-> Me? I don't really care if which cars of certain countries I would want. All I care is to see all the cars that could fit my dream of 10,000 cars in GT5. I don't really care if those are 60% JDM cars, as long there are more cars the better. (:

Many of us stated that it's better to have any cars from anywhere. I guess my question for discussion is, why do many of us play the nationality card when it comes to cars in GT games?

because we're more familiar with cars that are around us. so if you know a car's great. or you concider a certain car as important that maybe the mainstream automotive fans in another country wouldnt consider important.

Somebody please let me know, where in the hell did hp and slow/fast car talk come from? John, what are you talking about? this is about where you think they could add the most cars from, not about which country is your favorite, and CERTAINLY not about wanting fast or slow cars......??? Dude, unclench, sit down, breath, relax...... not everybody's trying to destroy what you love.... whoooo....saaaaaa.....whooooo.....saaaaaaaaaaa

Simple, when you go outside the cars you see are native to your environment. What would be more interesting that play a game where you can hop in an everyday car that you see parked in your neighborhood. If PD did continental surveys they would get a better idea of what cars from what areas to include, now if they did it that way, we'd have more domestic cars from our respective regions in the game, that way eliminating the disenchantment for regions having almost non existant representation.

PD has to get on the ball and have teams in major regions, viewing, and keeping car information as accurate as possible, then pool the info in on central place to be sorted and added, some cars will make it and others won't, but they need to figure out something. I don't want to see cars I know having the wrong specs, and things installed on them that you know you can't install in real life, get some dedicated cars nuts from various regions.

^^^ I think that's exactly what it comes down to, people like being able to drive everyday cars too. not just the elite, along with everyday Japanese cars, because, hell, we don't even get probly 50-60% of the Japanese cars in GT4 in America.

I wouldnt expect a German guy to get excited over the SunfireGXP concept, just as he shouldnt expect the Japanese guy to be excited over a VW Lupo, and the Japanese guy for me, with a 82HP Demio, and on, and on, and on.

Right now, it's HIS boring everyday cars, and not mine, and not the Australian's, and not the European's, that why you'll see so many bring nationality cards out, and why people say, "I want cars from my homeland!"
They arent cars everybody will love, likely, many won't even know what they are, fine, include them, but include my boring cars to, so I get my slow-paced fun to.

This is the way I see things... everyone is going to have a favorite car. I was the one talking about how much of an impact it is for daily drivers to have their personal vehicles in the game. Regardless of what it is, sure. A front-wheel drive 4-speed auto isn't going to be favored by sports car types. Now, a rear-wheel drive 5-speed manual/standard is likely better favored.

LeadSlead, I applaud you for noting "...boring cars too, so I get my slow-paced fun too." The italicized stuff were spelling errors I corrected for you. Anyhow, I'm the one who talks so much about myself being a "citizen of the world" with automobiles. Fact is, if people like automobiles, people will love to see their autos in a game like GT. Fact is, everyone has a voice as to what cars people would want to see in GT games. Whether it's a Texas Dodge Viper club, or a Pontiac Aztek club in Hell, Michigan (yes, there is a such city as Hell, MI), people will want to see their autos in GT. This would even include automakers in China trying to break into the automobile market and perhaps the world market. Possibilities are endless because people love cars. As long as people love cars and love their virtual racing, the demand for certain cars is going to be considerably high. For Polyphony Digital, I believe they want to put in as many cars as possible. They will want to entice as many GT fans as possible, myself included. Did I think PD do their end of the deal when it comes to cars from my native America? Many will cry no. I do think American cars can sound better in GT games, but we still get some rides that are sweeter than candy (assuming you like eating sweets).

GT4 did pretty well touching as many different nationalities as possible. Whereas GT4 only debutted Belgium and Australia, GT4 included [South] Korea, the Netherlands, Spain, and Sweden as far as nationalities go. If I forgot any, please let me know. The concept of many cars from many nationalities was covered better and offered nice depth and variety in GT4, and it can only get better with GT5. We may see a few more nationalities and many more cars. I don't see 1,000+ as realistic, but they can get awfully close. Not to start a debate of any kind, but I think this was sort of better diversity than GT4's rival, Forza. In fact, how would you compare and contrast GT4 and Forza in terms of diversity of nationalities and cars available? To prove your point, here are two links:

I for one would like to see a more balanced mix of cars from different nationalities, available both in new & used lots.

I've got absolutely nothing against Japanese cars, but come on, do need 10 years of Corollas & 10 years of Truenos in there? Thats basically 20 of the EXACT same car (havent looked to see exactly ho many of each are in game, but it's too many whatever it is) Then I go over Chevy lot & find... camaros & vettes. What about the Monte Carlo? thats been a stock car circuit favourite for years! Ford... Ka? wth? who drives those? lets see some Bonnevilles! Grand AMs! Firebirds! Skylarks! Impalas! Lincolns! Novas! heck as long as they're loading the game full of garbage used cars that nobody ever drives, why not toss in some fiestas, chevettes, gremlins... you name it, I dont care, just balance the field a bit.

^^^ many people feel this way, unfortuantly, they seem to get drowned out by people saying, "you have to love every car, otherwise you don't love cars!", Instead of realizing we're not complaining about these cars being included, and simply saying we want ours in too.

I say, don't take anything away. Just keep adding.

Even though there are an overabundance of Japanese cars in GT, Japan is still a major driving force in sports car production. As stated before in the thread, there are still a number of Japanese cars left out, and cars from previous versions of GT which would be good to include again.

But let's not neglect the American, European and Australian contributions to automotive history. Let's have a boatload of them too.

I dont think its a bad thing to have more japanese cars, or any amount of cars from any particular place in the world - there are a few cars i would love to see in GT and there all in my Sig!

The top three is a must have though!

Ford Sierra Cosworth
Ford Escort Cosworth
Nissan Pulsar GTI-R
Peugeot 205 GTi
Renault Clio Williams
Honda Accord Type-R

Few more off hand:

Fiesta MK2 & 3 XR2's, MK3 RSTurbo, MK5 Zetec-S, MK6 ST!
Ford Ecort RS2000 - & RSTurbo
Fiat Uno Turbo

Usually, you'll see me type something about loving cars and then respecting them. Here's the difference. LOVING cars mean that you praise a car and love it like it was your own child or family. RESPECTING cars mean that you have favorites and dislikes, but you like the car for what it is. I normally say that I love and respect cars. To me, loving and respecting cars was something I had to learn to do on my own. Normally, I wouldn't say that I'd prefer a (just picking any car) Daihatsu Copen over a Ferrari F50. I'm not like many people. I have my favorites, but I'm not about picking the most exquisite, most exclusive, and/or most powerful automobile known to man. I like being different and being happy with something less powerful and more common than always loving sports cars. I like sports cars and exotics, but I've also grown to love more sport compacts, mini cars, a number of trucks, vans, just about anything. I loved cars and wanted to extend my knowledge and experience of them. I pushed myself to respecting such automobiles. I wouldn't get a lot of popularity of loving a weak car over something more powerful and much better, but do I care about being popular? Usually, no.

The same goes for nationality of cars. The common thing I've heard in America is likely "it's made in America, so you know it's made right. And it lasts longer." I'd say "what difference does it make?" It only means that a car is made in my home country, so off the bat, I'm supposed to believe it's better than anything else in the world. So if this logic were true, Ford would design something to challenge the Honda Fit in class, and I'm supposed to believe that because it's American-made, it's better than say, something in the same class made in Great Britain, Germany, Australia, or a little place known as... Japan. That's why I state "anything! Gimmie more!" Apparentely, not many of us in America knew about a Subaru Impreza (an exciting one, anyways) or a Mitsubishi Lancer. Now look at the two cars here. We got Japan's finest rally-bred imports. The import and tuner types would love to have a Skyline in their garages or in their virtual GT garages. Now look... we're getting a REAL Skyline in about a few years. That's one thing some people fail to realize about GT games- the hook for the series has been a virtual tour of the world, whether with cars, tracks, Photo Mode locales, or whatever. I find a balance better, though maybe 15 to 20 percent more autos from each covered region would be a plus for GT5. I don't care if Russian, Indian, and Chinese autos are in the game because I've cared more about driving and owning more autos from around the world. I don't want the fastest machine on the planet... I just want to see the world with the steering wheel in one hand, and the shifter in my other. That's more important to me than caring about seeing more of a certain region, or an overemphasis at least.

I'd like to see more cars from North America...Europe too...not necessarily everyday cars buuut

Chrysler Voyager
Lotus 340R
Shelby 1964 Daytona Cobra Coupe
Porsche (or RUF) Carrera GT1...(i think, McLaren SLR's rival)
Hummer and the H2
Chevy Manta Ray and Mako...

...just to name a few, maybe ditch a few of the older cars that really had bugger all use apart from the odd Manufacturer event.

Oh and even though it's japanese (so it should be there) the Mitsu Evo IX

Well if you want balance nameing 15 different AMERICAN cars to put in it, well IMO but that's not very balanced.

<_Spike_>
Hummer and the H2
Uh huh....... WTF! O.o
gynormous SUV's don't belo9ng in a race simulator, they belong at war and being blown up. Besides it would get stuck at some points of the coarse, but seriously, anyone who thinks it should be in the game is an idiot, if you want one of these in a game, go play a crappy raceing game like MC3 or UG2 if it's ugly pointless beast that go 85mph with 4 mpg.

P.S sorry for the double post :yuck:

some japanese models deserve to get weeded out

we dont need this many modern Lancers & modern Skylines - we could lose a third of each & we still would have plenty

there are so many classic cars missing

well, as I live in Ohio, these are the cars I see on the road everyday. I'm really not very familiar with European cars to list a bunch that are missing (or any other non US-Japanese models) So forgive me if my posted selection seemed one sided, as that wasn't really my intention. All I'm saying is mix it up more. If you live in the UK, shout out some Euro cars you'd like to see, regardless of whether or not they are actually track worthy.

And maybe, just maybe PD will find it in their hearts to finally give the rest of the world what they want. I'm rather curious to know just how much of a percentage of their game sales are from non-Asian countries? I'm sure it has to be big enough to qualify as a voice worth listening to.

So they have 3 types of AE86 in the game, but no coupe versions. All Hatches. I mean, I myself own a hatch, I like them more than the coupe, but I still love the coupe too. Pulsar GTi-R would be nice too. But yea, more old school Corollas and Truenos.

Well i live in California, and i see BMW's, Mercedes, Jaguars, Audi, VW some real estate companys have Bentlys, um.... i see a Lotus Elise a couple times a month, but still pretty rare, um.... Alfa Romeo i see those Ferrari some times, rarly Lamborghini and Aston Martin, but there are still dealers around here of hose, and i see plently ofEuropean cars here. But Japanese car are every were, cause they produce so much more and have so many more companys, of coarse theres gonna be a **** laod of them in the game just like in real life, hence the name The REAL Driving Simulator. In fact American cars are so like not eing baught these days, cause Japan, and Germany are just kinda taking over.
