This is the way I see things... everyone is going to have a favorite car. I was the one talking about how much of an impact it is for daily drivers to have their personal vehicles in the game. Regardless of what it is, sure. A front-wheel drive 4-speed auto isn't going to be favored by sports car types. Now, a rear-wheel drive 5-speed manual/standard is likely better favored.
LeadSlead, I applaud you for noting "...boring cars
too, so I get my slow-paced fun
too." The italicized stuff were spelling errors I corrected for you. Anyhow, I'm the one who talks so much about myself being a "citizen of the world" with automobiles. Fact is, if people like automobiles, people will love to see their autos in a game like GT. Fact is, everyone has a voice as to what cars people would want to see in GT games. Whether it's a Texas Dodge Viper club, or a Pontiac Aztek club in Hell, Michigan (yes, there is a such city as Hell, MI), people will want to see their autos in GT. This would even include automakers in China trying to break into the automobile market and perhaps the world market. Possibilities are endless because people love cars. As long as people love cars and love their virtual racing, the demand for certain cars is going to be considerably high. For Polyphony Digital, I believe they want to put in as many cars as possible. They will want to entice as many GT fans as possible, myself included. Did I think PD do their end of the deal when it comes to cars from my native America? Many will cry no. I do think American cars can sound better in GT games, but we still get some rides that are sweeter than candy (assuming you like eating sweets).
GT4 did pretty well touching as many different nationalities as possible. Whereas GT4 only debutted Belgium and Australia, GT4 included [South] Korea, the Netherlands, Spain, and Sweden as far as nationalities go. If I forgot any, please let me know. The concept of many cars from many nationalities was covered better and offered nice depth and variety in GT4, and it can only get better with GT5. We may see a few more nationalities and many more cars. I don't see 1,000+ as realistic, but they can get awfully close. Not to start a debate of any kind, but I think this was sort of better diversity than GT4's rival, Forza. In fact, how would you compare and contrast GT4 and Forza in terms of diversity of nationalities and cars available? To prove your point, here are two links:
