More PC problems

I really need to look into my PC though its so slow and its not right at all

Whenever Im online if I minimise gtplanet and go to look in my control panel or my documents I get the error message saying iexplorer.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows
blah blah

and it really annoys me !

anyone have this happen, or know how I can fix it ??

well I can't access technet currently, but with internet explorer casuing errors, it might be more serious then normal errors. . . you might be looking at doing more then normal means of fixing the issue. . . What version of IE is it and have you u[dated it? what service pack are yoiu running? when did this start to happen or when did you first notice it?

erm would 5.5 make sense for explorer ?

it started hapenning just other day - I havent really changed much with the PC at all

I ordered a new disc for AOL to upgrade to ver 8 but the message still appears even with the new AOL on there.

3 Aol is like a pool of problems waiting to happen. . . Are you using dial up or broadband? and AOL probably has taken over your IE in which these problems probably have started from.

Im on dial-up

So AOL takes over ! Soon my PC will be shaped like the AOL letters

Which other ISP do anyone else use ? Are they reliable, slow etc ..

Get Ad-Aware from www.lavasoftusa.com.. Best place to start to fix errors that just starts occuring out of nowhere....

I went onto downloads.com and had a look there. I think the problem might be connected to my modem ?? Stuff is so slow to d/l - eg a 3 minute track might take 15-20 mins or so ?

How can I check what "K" my modem is ? and whats the usual modem that people use ?

I get 318kbps - Im using works pc though at the moment so its recorded that pc's speed hasnt it ?

And the area code is only 3 digits long ? does it mean telephone code or postcode ? It doesnt say ?

Have no idead - Punched in DK for Denmark.. Seems to wrrk anyway

Yup - You can only test your speed at the location you're physically at....

OK so my connection speed is an impressive 32kpbs !! or so it tells me there. So Im guessing thats 👎 - Is the only way of improving that buying a better modem?​

Ive been thinking of that for a while now. Is it easy enough to install myself ? Should I stay away from AOL !​

run away from AOL run far away! also considering that you pay for the SOL connection on top of the money you pay for your broadband connection, when you simply just run the broadband connection alone. . .

ah well I suppose the end of this thread is that my dial up is well slow and Ive probably got a virus connected to windows. I guess I'll have to take my PC to a shop and get it looked at
