most realistic settings

I was wondering what the settings should be if you want it to be as realistic as possible. I set the physics to PRO and turn off traction control. What is the active steering? Do cars like the Honda Type R or Mazda RX-7 have that? There's another setting but I forgot it's name do you guys turn it off or on?

I've also read people talking about ABS, but I don't see any settings for that unless it's called something else?

Go to pro, turn everything off. And ABS at 1.

Then off of that, it's all practice.

Yep, turn the Active Steering off. Also the ASM -Active Stability Management.
ABS is in the Quick Tune menu and the Live menu (can't remember the correct term) whist driving you can change some settings.

Not sure if any cars actually have an active steering function.
This is a help, for the less experienced drivers, I believe.

Good luck and have fun 👍

I turn everything off (except traction control on the more powerful RWD cars I sometimes leave at 1) and use simulation/pro steering. FFB I have at 8.

I'm not sure if you have to beat the game to unlock this ABS settings, but I can't seem to find this ABS in the game anywhere. All I have is this:

Active steering: OFF
Driving Physic: Professional
Active Stability Management (ASM): OFF
Traction Control: 0

Is that a realistic settings for the RX-7, Honda Type R, and the Lancer EVO '05?

ABS is in the "Quick Tune" menu. Should be right before the Steering Angle.

Quick Tune is not available until you reach S class in the tests... Well that was in SPEC I

I don't know if I'm blind but I don't even have a Quick Tune menu.

In Driving Options I got:
Active steering: OFF
Driving Physic: Professional
Active Stability Management (ASM): OFF
Traction Control: 0

In the main menu options I got
Steering Type: Simulation
Power-assisted steering: OFF
Force Feedback: 10

Do you have to beat the whole to unlock the Quick Tune menu?

Edit: I just saw you're post zed300 while I was typing this. Thanks. I was getting pretty frustrated that I couldn't find that settings now I know why

Thanks guy I was just checking. I just want to make the driving experience as realistic as possible. I just didn't know if the cars have ASM or power-assisted steering.

Many cars in the real life have all ON...
without Driving aids we would have an accident every 1 mile (or km) ..

so I use the car as in the REAL life ...

In real life, some of these cars don't have active stability management or EPS. Most of the front drivers don't even have traction control.

Most have ABS... so feel free to leave it on.

Don't bother with ABS, on Pro physics with all assist off the game has supernatural ABS, which far more advanced than any real life ABS systems.

Yesterday I run BMW M3 and was braking to the ground inside every turn (pro physics, no assists), you can't do this with real car, even if it has ABS. Half of braking like this will catapult the car out of the track.

Also car steers pretty well with wheels completely being locked.

Nope... that's what ABS actually does... it allows you to brake later and steer while braking. Without the wheels locking up, you still have a modicum of steering control under ABS. On track days, ABS prevents many of the newer cars from swapping ends under braking in areas where the older cars just let go.

If you enter a corner too hot, you will still understeer off the track in GT5P, ABS or not... but with ABS, you understeer less.

Exactly! But every braking eats your grip, something which a lot of people completely unaware of. Around an year ago I was seating in some Infinity and girl was driving, she lost the tail on very wide curve pushing the brakes half way. It was a car with ABS, didn't help.

And when the car steers with completely locked wheels with ABS off (you can see it on replay) - I have a feeling that something is really wrong here

I always race with all aids off (except ABS at 1), and something that has me curious for a while is what about cars that rely on electronic aids such as GTR, Evo etc?

I wonder if it would it be more realistic to have them on, but I'm not sure what level the aids should be at...

Don't forget that for example AMG has only automatic transmissions, and in every game you can choose manual

Depends on how much grip you have and how much lateral g's you're piling into the tires. It's perfectly possible to understeer off a corner or oversteer under braking in GT5, even with ABS on.

The question, really, is how different it is from real life, and not knowing the grip levels being modelled in GT5P (since they changed them from Spec II to Spec III, so nobody now knows what tires are truly "stock" ), you can't make definitive judgements about it.

*shrugs*, it's not as bad as Shift... where I can make the turn easier than in GT5P... even with ABS completely off. With ABS off in GT5P, cars are nearly undriveable without cadence braking. In Shift, all you need is to take your "foot" off for a millisecond and it's back under control.

could it be because GT5P is a DEMO just like the one in your 360 that you've praised a lot despite all the flaws and bugs it has?

I always set ABS to 0 but you will also have to set the Brake Bias when you do this.
I usually go 7 front 4 back which feels about right on just about any car.
With ABS off, you will find that left foot braking to gain grip in a corner does not work as well as when ABS is set to 1 but, it also feels more realistic. 👍

since I don't have access to these settings yet. Can you guys tell me if I have any kind of ABS on since I haven't unlocked the S class?

BTW. Any chance to change tires in events? Looks like this option is not active in quick tune menu.

So far I only could do it in arcade mode.

I think most (if not all) events restrict the tyres. Try racing online, you can set the cars up however you want, as long as you abide by the PP limits.

I can go to arcade. I like to put the "realistics" tyres from manual and lapping

In events looks like there is always higher grip tyres than manual list.

active steering has to be off and all the settings to simulation. also if you have a steering wheel like driving force gt you have to go to the options menu controllers and put it to simulation

Just wondering, as I can't play until after 6pm, if you turn off all driving aids but play in standard physics online, is it close to pro at all in the way the car handles? The reason I ask is that I recently switched to pro and then they took Susuka 800PP off pro and stuck me with 750PP intermediate just as I was starting to find my rythem.
