I used to be safety car, but then I took an Arrows to the door.

Superb. Even if the Sauber actually did the crashing. Here's your real deal.

I used to be on course for a race win, but then I took an Arrows to the rear. (Dodgy!)

In before an incredibly awful and tasteless Dave Luckett pun.

And awful video.

Some videos about John Watson led me to this crash of his at Monza in 1981. The benefits of carbon fibre really showing here. But the point of the video is how.. lacklustre the safety was for the marshalls on the track. Drivers simply storming past.

I'm surprised that they didn't receive a wake up call after the death of Pryce and Van Vuuren.

That one is horrifying. It's only in hindsight that we can look back and go, "Wow, look how unsafe it was!", but back then... it really was a different age.

It was horrifying. Van Vuuren couldn't see Pryce as he was right behind Stuck. It was a freak accident, but I'm surprised that it wasn't the wake up call that it should have been.

But you look at Italy 2000 and Australia 2001. You can't be certain.

Hell, even accidents like Kelvin Burt's at Thruxton or Kieth Odor's at Donington could have been horrendous for the marshalls.

New vid. Formula 1.. English commentary.. mid 1980s.. not Walker and Hunt?

Say hello to Jardine and Moss.

No double posting so here's a new video. Keep watching Alonso. He's such a trollface. Hell, even Kimi laughs!

Theres another McNish one that is pretty unbelievable but a spectator died in it so I shall not post it. Search McNish F3000.

tribolik
The last video led me to this one :lol::lol::lol::lol:

 aparently one of the guys was lagging

What I don't get is how the safety guy didn't see that coming! I saw that one coming from the second he stood straight up in a waiting manner!!

Wow, those announcers should like they're commentating on a game of golf.

And in tribolik's video...why was he out of the race? It didn't look like he hit the wall THAT hard and he's not in an Indy car. It's like he screwed up and got so frustrated that he Rage Quit the race...without actually being damaged out. What an idiot.

Yeah, they are pretty laid back before the crash. It goes something like this.

"And now Montoya needs to overtake Fisichella and Verstappen..."

*Laps Fisichella*

"He's through. Fisichella is usually one of the drivers who is fair..."

*Verstappen goes Tuero on Montoya's Williams*

"No! That's it! Montoya is out! He tries to keep the car running but he is out!"

"What was Verstappen doing?"

I don't like German commentary. Much prefer listening to it in English.

Jacques Villeneuve showing Eau Rouge what he's made of

This took balls of steel. Makes up for 1998 and 1999.

oops...

I was on the receiving end of that last year and my car had just been painted when the push truck guy had the brilliant idea of pushing a legend up a hill so the bumper was lower than the push plate and he pushed the body. Then halfway up the bank he stopped, the car rolled forward and I hit the brake lightly so it wouldn't crunch the body any more, so he ends up ramming me up the hill. Then once I was over the hill, this guy gets in front and puts a rope on his hitch and hands the other end to me and says "Hold this." I told him to hook it to the front bumper and he did but then he drove off with out me!........... I eventually got a tow

*Asking myself why there isnt that weather at every single race*

Because it's bloody dangerous?

I like wet weather races and think that the red flag is often brought out too soon but in that particular video the cars can't even keep in a straight line without dangerously sliding off the course. They weren't even trying to go fast and still crashed into each other at Fosters corner.

Seismica:

(I'm saying that drivers will try to drive to the conditions, but will always try to push further. Inevitably this will lead to collisions. In the safety conscious world of F1 this means the race is stopped or the safety car is out to prevent any accidents.

I'd like to say I agree with you, but the very nature of F1 drivers means they will all try to push the limit. They can't be trusted when not behind the safety car to drive safely as they are all fighting for immediate track position, not trying to conserve the car like in Le Mans. It's a bit of a difficult topic, but I think perhaps you're right in that they do go a little bit far sometimes, like keeping the safety car out for 5+ laps and having a rolling start is not something that should exist in F1.)

Like they do in the dry. You want them to have safety car in the dry?

This from the weekend. I happened to see it live on TV. That would be worse than hitting a wall at that speed.
What disturbs me is how long it was before any marshals/medical people responded. It was a full 2min between the caution being thrown and anyone going near the car. Then they didnt bother sweeping any of the grass off the track...

^holy moly! I wasnt expecting that to happen. One of the more odd crashes I've ever seen.

*Asking myself why there isnt that weather at every single race*

It wasn't the weather that caused that accident(s) - it was a combination of slick tyres and a flash-rain shower.
Basically the race started in sunny, dry conditions but by the time they got around half the track, it had started chucking it down so hard and so quickly that as you see in the video, all the cars began aqua-planing.

There is nothing anyone could have done, race control couldn't react quickly enough and the drivers themselves are quite simply passengers when the car aquaplanes....even more so with slick tyres on!
I'm also not sure its a question of drivers simply not slowing down or being careful enough - we are talking about racing here! The whole point of racing is to push to the limits of grip and go as fast as possible. Of course drivers should slow down if they don't think its safe - but how slow is safe? Its very difficult to judge not to mention its easy to aqua-plane even at slow speeds!

I find it awesome that the same car was in two videos in a row from two races in a row.

When McNish and AJ were hitting each other I remember yelling "He's not a Ferrari McNish, calm down!"

Gordon Shedden, at Snetterton last year, about to be shown the black and orange flag - which means your car has a dangerous mechanical problem and you must pit this lap - finds a quicker way of removing a flapping piece of bodywork:
