Mouse Problems

So last week, my mouse started to act weirdly. It would stop working for about 2 - 5 seconds every 30 - 60 seconds. The mouse on screen doesn't respond, the buttons and scroll wheel do not respond either. Although the light on the bottom stays on. I tried reconnecting the USB and that doesn't work. I thought maybe the mouse was broken, so I connected a different one and it still has the same problem. I tried using a different USB port but it still persists. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Where will I be able to find the drivers?

If you're using Windows 8, open the search menu, search for "Device Manager" and when opened there should be a section called 'Mice and other pointing devices', open this little menu, right click on the device and click properties, go to the driver tab. First off I'd try and update the driver there which there should be a button for.

If you're using a different OS let me know and I'll get back to you.

Whenever I do that, it says its up to date. I'm using a cheap Dell mouse so I doubt there'll ever be too many updates.

Wired USB. As I said, I tried a different mouse and it has the same problem. I've tried a different USB port and it still is acting weird.

If you can, go to start > type in services.msc > click on services > find Human Interface Device Access. Make sure it is enabled/started.

I just got this error and my mouse completely disconnected, even the light on the bottom turned off. After reconnecting to USB, it's working again. Hopefully it'll stop acting weird.

This has become completely unbearable now. Before it'll just stop working for 2 seconds every minute or so, but now it completely disconnects or stops responding for a whole minute. So I finally took some time to do some actual research on this problem. Its an old Dell MS111 mouse and the specific drivers for it are not compatible with Windows 8. I'm guessing it is the drivers fault, but what confuses me is why was it able to work for the past half a year and now it suddenly decides to not want to cooperate.

Maybe the hardware just happened to start going bad on you? Or recent updates didn't mix well with the old drivers?

Your computer has a virus or worm or something. :(

You did proper testing to isolate the issue, you are now looking at an OS issue or a worst case scenario of hardware failing because of a Malware.

Go to restores or rewrites, the OS is (without being able to curse) "buggerred."

Download Malwarebytes free and do a scan to see if you do have any virus. It could also be that the USB board / controller chip is failing inside your machine. The same happened to the HDMI port on my laptop and now it's just doesn't work despite the rest of the laptop working fine.

Okay, I downloaded Malwarebytes and tested it and got nothing. So does this mean my motherboard could have a problem? I realized I have a DS3 connected into the other USB 2.0 port and that hasn't have any problem. Do you think if I get a newer mouse with its drivers own drivers would eliminate this problem?
