Moving mud flaps in Gran Turismo 5

The mud flaps on rally cars don't move as they should and as they were moving in Gran Turismo 4. For example examine how the mud flaps (black square behind rear wheels) behaves correctly in GT4 and how it looks fake in GT5:

Lancia Delta S4: Gran Turismo 4

Lancia Delta S4: Gran Turismo 5

The same happens in other rally cars like Lancia Stratos. I hope someone could forward this issue to Polyphony or to a bug list for GT5.

Some of you may say that I am nitpicking but since the mud flap animation was done for GT4 it's baffling how it's not in GT5 for cars that were ported from GT4. That (along with other things) in my opinion shows how quickly and without care standard cars were ported. Oh and by the way cars like the Delta S4 and the Stratos should have been premium and not standard!!

I would like something like this to, but as most rally cars are taken from GT4, then they are not going to take them all and model mud flaps.

Delta S4 is ported from GT4. And it had the mud flap animation in GT4. They could have ported the animation but apparently they didn't care... 👎

Do you know if any premium rally car in GT5 has animated mud flaps? Could you post a video please?

Who cares about mud flaps?
There was barely any movement in GT4 anyway. I would understand if they were actually blowing drastically but there just jittering about.
People these days lol.

While it's true that it's not a game-destroying feature it's a nice little touch that makes the game look better. Like the movable aero parts in some cars like the Enzo, the Veyron etc. Likewise who cares about moving aero parts but i am glad they are in!

Mud flaps? What we talkin bout man? We in here talkin bout mud flaps. I mean listen, we talkin bout mud flaps. Not a game..not a game....we talkin bout mud flaps. Not the game that I go out there and race every race like it's my last...not the game....we talkin bout mud flaps man. I mean how silly is that when we talkin bout mud flaps.

No offense but if THIS is even close to the top of their list of things to fix,a lot of people will be very angry lol

Forget the mud flaps listen to that glorious wind noise at high speed in GT4! Bring that back PD!!! :ouch:

Ahem.. but back to the point, I'm almost positive I was racing a rally car (think it was a standard) that had moving mud flaps.. hmmm.. I'm gonna double check on that.

It blows my mind when games take backwards steps like this. Reminds me of GTA IV where you can't hook up a trailer or fly a plane... Or COD nailing the multiplayer for MW2 then arsing it up for Black Op's. It's just poor.

Remember this is mudflaps, emphasis on mudflaps.
Not multiplayer, not vehicles but mudflaps.
Understood?

The general consensus is that Black Ops is a lot better than MW2.

Anyway, they built the GT5 engine supposedly from scratch, so it probably wasn't as simple as just importing the animation from the cars. Maybe in GT6 all these problems will be fixed.

Yeah you are right... I forgot GT5 is pure racing game and the developers haven't spent any time on useless features like custom horns, commanding the AI how to race, gift cards with info on cars, modeling engine break in or modeling detailed landscapes where you would not drive but just take photos of your virtual cars you have bough with your virtual money while leaving many historic and significant tracks out of the game!!

GT5 is a great game, the handling of the cars is realistic and satisfying and I am having great fun especially with seasonal events and time trials on Nurbugring. Lack of moving mud flaps doesn't make the game unplayable or less fun. But since they were in GT4 and it's a very simple animation (5 keyframes max) it would be nice to have in GT5. I understand though they will probably never reintroduce them.

We talkin bout practice?

Do you mean that you didn't find it fun that you could fly a plane in GTA? Remember games are made to have fun and sometimes silly fun is nice!:)

PD didn't care about a lot of things for this game. They figured that they made enough money from GT5: P to cover for the actual GT5 that it didn't matter if they screwed this game up.

Thats the impression I'm seriously just getting playing this game right now.

ITS MUDFLAPS, FRICKEN MUDFLAPS!
lol you guys are hilarious.

I don't know whether it's just the video quality but the S4 looks better in GT4 than GT5.
It's odd that certain little things on the cars from GT4 were left out, Mud Flaps, flashing lights on the pace car etc, but the Blitz Dunlop Drift car 04 has Neon?

Dont let the video quality fall ya. Also the GT4 video was actually live playing while GT5 was just a replay with different views of the car. Can't compare if there not in the same view.

No, that was my point, I think you mis-read my post. GTA San Andreas allowed these things then later versions of the game had regressed.

Unless you want everyone to just say "Yes" or "No" there isn't much further that you can take the mud-flap issue. I was making the wider point in relation to the OP's post that it's annoying when games lose features in sequels. This is something I don't remember GT games doing before. Understood?

Black Op's may well be better than MW2 but the online stability is a step backwards without a doubt.

Whether they modelled the cars from scratch or not I wouldn't have expected them to consider having mud-flaps and antenna that move in the wind to be important in one game and then not important in the next, especially when you consider the insane detail on the Premium's. Also bear in mind they went to the trouble of having the trackside environment affected by the cars passing by so there was obviously some intent on improving detail which makes this an even stranger ommission.

I am sorry, I thought you were being sarcastic like the guy who said he would throw GT5 in the trash! :)

Oh and technically the first plane you could fly in GTA was the dodo in GTA3. Good Times!!

No that hardcore simulation but silly fun!!! :)

This is like being told my best friend is a paedophile. Like I should've noticed before, should've seen the signs but now it's all so clear.

This is soul-destroying.
