Must buy 20,000,000 dollar car to race in nostalgic 1979 professional race ?

With max power, lowest weight, RS tyres, race gearbox. I’ve won with the AMG at all rounds bar Sardegna. No other set-up changes. Sardegna is difficult to win in a stock P4 without a near perfect run. In the tuned AMG I’m always 5-6 seconds away.

Goodwood wins are dependent on the AI grid. Sometimes you can’t get near 1st. Brands is also tough but doable.

I AI are super quick at the 90 degree right-gander before the fast downhill esses and fast at "Church" corner. Getting a fast entry and exit are the key(for me). Just have to keep the car stable mid-corner.

I don't know about the other tracks but I did win at Spa with a souped up AMG. Though I mostly just ran it there for a photo op.

Hey @05XR8 finally won at Brands Hatch and the 330 P4 '67 started in 4th position, but on lap 4 I made one mistake and I went digging in the sand and I lost a lot off time, and I was going to give up and start again but I continued on and I still won .

And you win with the "red" pig. ;)
Yep, see I got 2 pigs and the other one is green like you suggested but had no luck with it, so I went back to the red one with success, and thanks again about the 330 P4 '67 position in the field .

The old merc is the cheapest and also probably the worst as its so heavy and not very quick, but you still can win with it.
I won the Brands Hatch race with it, but I had to push 100% like crazy to catch a very fast Ferrari upfront

Success with the Mercedes does seem very dependent on the other cars lining up in the race.
When I first tried Spa in the Mercedes I won quite easily 4 times on the trot; I began to get quite complacent about it. However, the next time one of the 330 P4s was so much quicker than me that I finished the race around 10 seconds behind the Ferrari. That brought me back to earth with a bump!
I've since had similar results at Brands Hatch and Monza...

If the 330 P4 starts 4th you have a better chance of winning the race, than if its starts 1th or 2nd on the grid.

Getting close to 15.000.000, I am thinking of Shelby Daytona. Probably it will have more chances to win, in comparison to the Red Elephant...:D

Hit 20 million on my alt account, where I'm doing an offline playthrough, without buying any cars. Once at the credit cap, I bought the 20 mill XJ13, so I could run these races.

Stock HP and weight, it has been no trouble to win the races so far, with just gearing changes.

Same here but not sure if I should just carry on grinding to 20mil and get the P4

If you have the patience, it will probably be worth it.

I love the P4 but personally I find the XJ13 a nicer drive.
I'm sure others will have different views as the 'best' car is something of a subjective matter.
P4? XJ13? Either way you'll be buying a winner! 👍

I prefer the XJ13 too, but the P4 is faster.

The P4 is faster but is has a handling problem now thanks to PD with there update last year, which made the handling strange, before the update last year the handling was very good and I love the car. Now the XJ13 is the car I use now because I have no issues with the car, even if its a bit slower than the P4.

I've found that I have an even better chance when it starts 10th!
I've actually found those situations to be the absolute worst case scenario. With the fast cars starting in the back and the snails in the front it gets unbearable really quickly with three or four mid-engined monsters bunched up behind a 2000GT or a DB3S, nobody being able to pass it, driving three wide, darting in every direction, doing perhaps 90 in places where 150 would be more like it, and still braking way too early when compared to the braking points when actually pushing hard. And then hitting full brakes at the corner exit because the car in front is approaching too quickly under acceleration. :ouch:

I’ve been able to win a handful of these events with the Shelby Cobra Coupe. Of course, you’ll need a setup that maxes out the power while dropping the weight to the bare minimum. Even so, you still have to work like hell to catch up. I feel that the 330 isn’t quite the same monster on Brands Hatch and Spa.

Goodwood is the only race that can be a challenge, with some insane magic rabbit powers. Using the XJ on my alt. account, a 330 started 4th, and I figured I could handle that. Got to 2nd by lap 4, and stayed there with a 5 second gap at the end. Reset the field, and had a XJ on pole, and no 330s in the top 8. Got to second quick, and noticed the gap to the leader was 21 seconds, by the end of the race, it was still 11 seconds, and his best lap was over a second faster than mine. Clean races, running low 1:10s. Reset the field again, and was leading by lap 4, with no contest the rest of the race.

When I ran that race on my main account, I used the Shelby, and won it the first try.

I did the first 3 or 4 with the Aston Martin tuned, after that I had to use the Corvette tuned so you definitely don't need the 20m cr cars for it.

Okay, if/when I buy the LHDLC, other than the 4 gift cars, I'll total 120mil Cr.

330 20mil
GT40 20mil
GTO 20mil
XJ13 20mil
D-Type 15mil
Daytona 15mil
250 Berlinetta 12.5mil
Alfa 10mil(I already own)
DB3S 10mil(I already own)

Total 142.5mil

At least, players that don't have any of these cars, get a head start. Just need to grind for the last 22.5mil. Looks more like I will buy the LHDLC. The Cr cap will help, if/when more high priced cars become available.

What's crazy, is how the 300SEL, for a minute sum, trumps all the cars above.

Just recently got out of a stream where I tried (and failed) to clear Nostalgic 1979 at Brands Hatch with the Ferrari high rollers. Apparently the AI still rubber-bands like crazy even when you're driving a 330 P4 with max power, max weight reduction and max downforce.

Don't know if I should keep using the P4 or if I should switch to the XJ13 or GT40 Mk4 instead in all honesty...

I am at 14.7000.000 Cr. with Hamilton Time Trial still waiting.
Time to start considering whether I get Shelby Cobra now or wait for 5.000.000 more, so I could get one of the Holy Trinity (P4 - XJ13 - Mark IV).

Don’t forget the ‘59 Corvette Stingray Racer which is also another 5 million. It’s pretty competitive as well!

Dident read the entire thread.

My main goal is to reach level 50 ( I am about 47,5 now )

I have another 20 million to burn now. Just not sure what to buy.

I already have the Jaguar XJ13, and the Cobra.

I think I am not wanting the P4 yet. as I think it may not be to my taste even its the fastest of them all.

I am kinda wanting the Ferrari 250 GTO just not sure if it can win the Nostalgic events for further grinding. I dont mind if its not the fastest. Just want to have something that is fun to drive.

Also thinking about the Lamborghini Miura. Just not sure if it actually has any use in any events that makes sense to grind. Again dont mind of its not that fastest, but should still give a decent amount of XP.

Or is there something else I should consider ?

So far I am grinding a mix of Blue mooon bay, Nostalgic 1979, All Japan, Group 1, and Mercedes AMG events in Profesional league. All these give at least some desent XP. Some more than others but still fun and worth the time IMO.

If you don’t want the P4 but still want to spend 20M, you can get the 250 GTO. It’s a beautiful car and it can win the Nostalgic ‘79 races. Of course there's also the Mark IV GT40 which is on the same level as the XJ13 and the 330 P4 in terms of performance. The Mark IV’s engine sounds really good in my opinion.

——-

If I were in your shoes however, I’d go the route and spend your 20M on the 1950’s sports racers currently in the game:

- Aston Martin DB3S CN.1 ‘53 (10,000,000cr.)

- Jaguar D-Type ‘54 (15,000,000cr.)

- Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Racer Concept ‘59 (5,000,000cr.)

I can say from personal experience that all three of these can easily win the Nostalgic ‘79 races when tuned. These cars’ handling characteristics are way more primitive but so much more entertaining and than the ‘60s GT racers in the game. And the best part about going this route is that you can purchase THREE competitive classics for the Nostalgic ‘79 for 30 million credits.
