Mustang's GSX-R 750 thread!

Adjustable pegs...? I didn't know such a monster existed

And I'm with ya about it being fine, just things I think about. And that's how I justify a custom street fighter to myself... say its to keep off the miles and has more use than just a toy! GS is a good platform in my eyes. Light, cheap to buy, cheaper to fix, parts everywhere (as in '89-'09 most cases), awesome mpg, and even more important than that practical crap, is I'm not afraid to chop one up and weld on a whole new, steep raked tail and make a seat.to go with it :)

Couldn't do that with the gix, with the 2 small dents pulled, a couple scratches fixed and new paint on the wheels, she would be 95% show quality.

OK I'm getting off topic. Foot pegs! I only know what looks cool, but what works best?

Take a look at those Vortex rearsets that I posted, very adjustable.

And you also know where my vote lies for peg grip. :P

Nope, no idea. You might have to say it again, cause I'm about 2000% sure you haven't expressed your gripping opinions :P

Does vortex sell just the pegs? I'm not looking for new rear sets, too much money!

Umm, I don't really know if they sell the pegs separate.
I couldn't find any vortex rearsets for your yearmodel bike though.

Look around a bit, you want something that is going be able to dig into your boot hard.

120 mile round trip?
I do that in the afternoon.
For a ride out.
Then I re-fill the tank, and come home.
A Gixxer will do 1500 miles and not give you an issue.
As long as you lube the chain, check the tyre pressures and keep your eye on the temps while in standing traffic etc.....

:irked:👍

That's good to know! I just didn't want to be too far from home on a bike I hadn't tested out on a longer trip. I've got the confidence to go across the state now on it

Nothing new to update on the bike really. Doesn't like to fire right away after sitting for a week (shocking). College started back up so no mods will be happening for a little.

Currently just need new pegs, a back tire, and my seats recovered

So I'll just add some pictures

My '94 and my buddies '91. Or what's left of it lol

I love how in your face yet still classy the paint scheme is :)

My buddies still give me crap about it though, because apparently I can't buy a motorcycle that doesn't have purple on it, or one with a dent free tank

Copy paste from gixxer forum on front brake interestingness. Opinions welcome!

I may have found my issue! Or this is normal and I never knew about it because I've never gotten up close with my brake rotors. Anyways, I was messing around today while moving the bike, and noticed it making some noise when I applied front brake. So I started searching around, knocking on things, etc, and found something "interesting" with my right brake rotor. The rotor part seems loose to me, it has some play in it, a little wiggle room where the actual braking surface and the part of the rotor where the bolts go through to the wheel.

Is that normal? Because I feel like my rotors shouldn't feel like they're going to separate

I liked the tinyness, made it really flick able!

Andddd.... yeah you stick with that plastic "cage"

Got to ride a '98 Triumph Daytona 955i the other day! Holy engine character, batman. I love that triple :) But the thing handles like a boat IMO, went to start a lean, and it fights you and tries to go straight upright. Maybe I should have rode it differently, whatever. Hopefully I'll get another go on it soon!

Really makes me see how flickable my gixxer is for such a large bike

Update on the jig - I turned 21 so now it has a plate that doesn't have "under 21" written on it! How did it repay me? By damn near leaving me stranded because the stupid fuel petcock seized up and WILL NOT switch to reserve or prime. It is stuck on "ON"

Damnit.
