Ok. I've just made myself an Avatar but I've read that you need at least 200 posts. Does that mean that all the work I did is useless? Please help.

P.S It'll probably take me forever to get 200 posts

No, you can use your avatar when you get 200 posts, and I bet you'll get there sooner than you think (some of our members post that much in a day! ). If you ever need any more information on avatars, just click on any avatar you see to get all the information about them.

I was lucky when that rule was introduced I was already using a custom avatar......so I didn't have to wait..but the bad thing was I could change it!
