My b-spec driver is getting worse

I have to admit, I'm terrible at the 'ring, so I'm driving the majority of the 24hr enduro in b-spec mode. I'm using my fastest car, the Escudo. Yea, yea, it's a dirt car, but it's faster around the 'ring than my heavily modded M5 (both were tested in b-spec mode prior to starting the race).

The first 20 laps or so I was putting a beating on everyone, I was +4 laps on the 5th and 6th place cars. I'm now on lap 63, and the second place person has closed the gap by 4 minutes, he seems to be slowly reeling me in. I have no idea how, my car definitely is a gas gussler and goes through tires like mad, but I was 5 minutes ahead of him after the first 20 laps, and now I'm only a minute ahead.

My car is also going off track a lot more, and probably spinning out/needing to reverse once every 1-2 laps. I realize that my car is way too much power for the track, but that still doesn't explain why the first 20 laps were great, and now they're garbage. The lap times seem to be up by an average of 20-30 seconds.

I haven't messed with the speed settings too much, I tried slowing it down to 2 or 1, but neither of those settings takes advantage of the top-end on that long straight before the finish line (going 214mph is a bit better than putting safely along at 145).

Anyway, when I get up in the morning I hope it'll be well on my way to having an F1 car, I just thought it was weird that my driver seems to get worse with time. I'd almost be better off driving the whole thing myself, and I am TERRIBLE on this track :(

My suggestion to anyone reading this thread, don't use a crazily over-powered car, it's not efficient in the least bit, especially if your b-spec driver is as retarded as mine. For the record my b-spec was around 4100 before I started the race.

Other suggestions are welcome! :)

probably cuz the escudo sux. I havent touched it yet in GT4 but in gt3 it handled like it was driving on 10speed tires. That may be why your bspec keeps takin it in the grass.

Well, I plan to do all my races in the game on my own.

But best of luck to you.
I don't know why he's getting worse.

Maybe some more info?
Such as
Every which # of laps he pits?
How fast is he taking the corners?

etc.

you should have gone with the M5. the Escudo is notorious for handling like a funny car, and anything from BMW is a corner eating beast. and with that much time (24 hrs.), even if the M5 wasn't as insanely overpowered and as fast on the straight as the Escudo, any tiny lead would have become huge in no time.

If your car handles like crap in a-spec, don't expect anything different in b-spec. My driver lost a bunch of time as well in one of the la sarthe enduros. I don't know if he ran out of gas or he spun out insanely bad, but I looked away for 1 stint and he went from being 45 seconds up to being down by 30+ seconds.

Also, the best way to get better at the ring is to do the endurance race by yourself. nothing like 100+ laps to get you familiar with the track.

what are you running your AI at?

if hes going off the track, set him at #1 Slow Down

and then he shouldnt go off the track nearly as much

Your chassis probably needs a refreshing. It can't handle the forces of the Ring. A BMW, on the other hand, is built for the ring, and it most likely handles better after the chassis becomes stressed than a stressed Escudo chassis would. German engineering. 👍

EDITED. :grumpy:

"...it most likely handles better after the chassis becomes stressed." Boy now THAT isn't a bit of wishful thinking is it? :) German engineering is good, but metal is metal. You twist it and honk on it long enough and it's going to get fatigued, no matter if it's from Korea, Germany, or Brazil.

I concur,

Don't bring the beast. You need a car that is capable of handling the "ring" corners, straights etc. You also need to consider tires et.al. Like Minnesota said
if it handles like crap A-Spec don't expect anything diff for your B-Spec driver...

Can I get a wOOt!

Those Escudo is not very good on handle, and yeah it's SUCKS! can lose control a lot tho, why not you get MINOLITA TOYOTA.. because this car is so fast and handle so well THAN Escudo.. and yeah trush me, because i got 37 over lap 2nd place just set it (3) with overtake on.. that's all you need,

By the way, if you don't have Minota toyota yet, just go El Caption (200 miles) and you will get that sweet car!! :) don't worry it's only 66 lap and all other AI is just normal type car, you can A-spec it and beat it no problem

I honestly don't understand why they put the escudo in, it would make sense if Pikes Peak was back but it isn't. That thing was built for Pikes Peak thus why it appeared in GT2.

So yeah get a better overall car, if you find it impossible to drive then your B-Spec driver will find it hard too.

im actually b-specing it right now. im using my R92CP at 1140hp. it threw me up against some pansy JGTC cars. with about 2 and a half hours left, im 30 LAPS ahead of the 2nd place car. i have super hards on front and back; he pitted every 5 laps on average. red tires and an empty gas tank seemed to coinside each time.

Should have gone with the Toyota 88CV. That car owned the competition by about 28 laps when my b-spec guy ran it.

My B-Spec Driver is half way through 12hrs to go. That guy can drive his a$$ off.

The first time I b-spec'd it I won a white/blue PD Formula. 👍 Then I b-spec'd it again just to get a different color. My b-spec driver spun out the F1 car several times on his way to a 37 lap lead.

Got the orange one the second time. The orange one is cool, but I still like the white/blue one a little better.

i sincerely hope i get a cool color. either black, red, or orange. i dont wanna have to do it again if i get a color i dont like... :indiff:

I used a Jaguar XJ220 Race Car with 943bhp. I done most of it in B-spec and at the end of the race I lapped 2nd place 6 times. 2nd place was one fast Elise race car I think. :)

I had the driver on setting 4. On 5 the driver skids onto the grass a few times.
One or twice the car wouldn't pit when it had red tyres (annoying) so I had to turn it down to 2. Might this be the problem?

Those are the exact colors I was hoping for. I've seen the black one and I have the orange one, but I don't remember seeing a red one. I'd be interested to know if they are on some kind of cycle, I may do it again just to see what I get.

......im prolly gonna do it again.... not a big fan of the color i got:
Well it's better than my one. My one is mostly green and a bit of black and white.

Just for testing when I just bought the game I did a race in arcade with the Dodge Ram versus all those slow Fiat 500's etc and I was first before the first corner. Then I did the same race on B-spec and put it on level 3 and he finished 5th!!! I can't understand

Still better than whoever got the lavendar one... ;)

Heeey, I got the lavendar one and I like it. I ran it again in hopes to get the red one to see why one of my friends went apey over it. But I ended up getting the green, red and white one.
Lavendar rules. :sly:

Yes, lesson learned. The escudo is fun for running the 400m but that's about it. Luckily, my driver did a lot better overnight in 1x mode, he's at least a lap ahead of everyone so when I get home from work I'll have a shiny new F1 car waiting for me. WEEEEEEEEEE :)
