This is a repost of my first review of the stock Opel Corsa, so this is not the OPC review. I wanted to use my second post for something different so I had to replace it.

Seen a couple of these threads and it looked fun to do. So from now one I will start reviewing cars. I'll start with some cars I have real life experience with. I stole the 4-in-1 photo idea from C-ZETA, hope you don't mind.

Opel Corsa Comfort 1.4 '01

This car is the closest thing in the game to the first car I owned. I owned a '97 Corsa 1.4 Sport which had about the same specs. But mine weighed about 100 kg less if the specs I found on the internet are good. I remember it as a fun car to drive. It was easy in the corners, but it lacked speed. I owned it when I was 18 and only really drove in my own city so for that kind of driving it was ideal.

My time with this car came to an abrupt ending when I had to bring someone home after a night of rain and hail and I slided and crashed into a parked car at 30 km/h. Somehow the engine got damaged and it was total loss. So one thing I want to test in the game is how it drives in the rain.

SPECS

90 HP
998 kg
315 pp
Standard Tyres: Comfort Normal
12.037 km on the clock.

I chose not to do an oil change or engine restoration because the car I drove had a similar mileage and horsepower.

LOOKS

It doesn't look special. Just a normal hatchback. The stock wheels are aweful. They are the first thing I'm going to change if I drive it again. It doesn't look bad, but like I said: There's nothing special about it. I remember that my car looked pretty modern when comparing it to cars from the same year and class.

SOUND

It sounds nothing like the real car. I think the sound is a bit too loud for a slow car like this.

TESTS

Added Route X Speed Tests:

• Topspeed: 185,9
• 0-400m: 18,734
• 0-1000m: 33.941
• 0-100km/h: 12,583
• 0-200km/h: N/A
• Max g: 0.39

Test 1: Nurburgring Nordschleife Variable Weather/Time lap time

Time for it's first test. The Nurburgring. Being a small and affordable german car I expect this car gets driven a lot at the Ring in real life. I've heard from people who went there who got overtaken by a Corsa while they were driving a much faster car.

So I started the free run. It was around 5:30am and no rain or surface water. Ideal conditions to test the car. The car drives as simple in the game as the real one did. I had no problems with understeer and set a clean time in my first lap. Only time I went a little bit off track was in the corner which is called Eschbach I think but quickly went back on the track.

The car reached a top speed of 172 km/h on the straight. The fastest I've reached with my car was 185 km/h on a empty highway at 3 in the morning so that is something I would like to test again when the test track is released.

The final time on the Nurburgring Nordschleife was: 10:09,476. As you can see it's not a fast car, but it's easy and quite fun to drive. You can take a lot of corners with full throttle and most corners give no problems at all. I can recommend this car to people who like online Ring trackdays.

nordv.jpg

Test 2: Suzuka in full rain

Next up is the rain test. A slippery road meant the end of my car so let's see if I can control it in the game. The track to test this is Suzuka. With a lot of corners, 100% surface water, grip set to real and rain it should be the ultimate test.

The first thing I noticed was that it was a standard car, so it had no windscreen wipers. After crashing in the first corner because I couldn't see it I switched to the bumper cam and restarted. The rain proved to be no problem for the Corsa. The car handled very nicely and after 3 laps without going off track I decided to stop. It set a time of 3:14,102. So either my driving skills increased, slippery tracks are badly simulated or the road was icy the day I crashed.

suzukacircuits.jpg

Test 3: Top Gear Test Track Power Lap

Time for the final test, a lap with a standing start on the Top Gear Test Track. It's a bit like the reasonably priced cars so I expect it to do the lap in about 1:40-1:45.

Well, it did it in 1:45,938. Great lap apart from a strange line through Hammerhead because I braked too late. Bentley and Follow-through can be taken without letting go off the throttle. Had a finish like in the series :D

tgttp.jpg

FINAL VERDICT

This car will always be special to me. It was the first car I owned. It was my grandpa's car and I got it when he died. I'm suprised I didn't use it before but now I'm sure I will use it more often. The handling on this car is great. It's missing speed so I think I'll put some more power in it and change the ugly wheels and hope it doesn't lose it's handling. It's sound is strange for a car this slow and it doesn't look that good but still it's a great car to drive. Even the rain doesn't stop it from taking corners without a problem. It's exactly how I remembered it, apart from the rain. I'll give it a final score of:

13/20

Later I will review a tuned version. I think I will like it a lot more if it was a bit faster.

The following part was added later when I decided to rate the cars on three points: Looks, Handling and the Fun while driving this car.

Looks: 4/10
Handling: 8/10
Fun: 7/10
Total: 6.3/10

This is an excellent thread. I'm bookmarking it on my site, if you don't mind. :)

Thanks a lot. Just finished my Aventador review but I accidentally closed Chrome. Luckily I still have the first half from before I had a break. So the rest will be written from my memories. Possible it is not completely accurate anymore :(

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4

circuitdespafrancorchamz.jpg

I'll start with a warning. This is probably going to be a long read. I've been waiting for this car to be in GT5 ever since I saw the first pictures of this car so I will be taking my time testing it. This car is on the top of my list of dreamcars at the moment. I like Lamborghini's and when I saw this car I was stunned. If someone said I could pick any car I want and he'd give it to me I would choose this one.

The Murcielago SV is one of my favourite cars in GT5 at the moment. The new Aventador will have to be very good to take the throne. I'll set my focus on handling and fun because I can already tell you now this car will get 10/10 for looks from me. This will also be the first car I will test on the new Route X. But let's begin with the review.

SPECS

Max Power: 714 hp at 8500 rpm
Max Torque: 703 Nm at 5500 rpm
Weight: 1575 kg
Performance Points: 586
Sport Hard tyres

LOOKS

I should have called this the patience test because I need to drive it. But first let me take it to the photomode to take some pictures. This car looks amazing. The stock wheels that come with the car are great. Everthing about this car just shouts SPEED and POWER. The headlights look nice, the rear lights look great. The enormous exhaust built up out of 4 smaller ones is amazing. You can see the V12 engine through the glass. From the side you will see how low the car is and I think the vents behind the door look good aswell. As you probably noticed I love this cars looks so I will stop here and post the pictures to see for yourself. On to Route X!

rev6.jpg

SOUND

The car sounds a lot like the Murcielago SV. Which is a good thing. I love the sound of the car. Especially from inside. Too bad the wind noise takes over on the high speeds on Route X.

TESTS

Test 1: Route X Speed Tests

Finally, time to drive it. I'll start with the top speed test. This test is awesome. The track looks great. But I'm not reviewing that. The Aventador reached a top speed of 354.5 km/h. The acceleration on this thing is crazy. It just kept on going. The interior looks nice and when you look back using L1 you can see the engine and the glass covering it.

rev7.jpg

Time to test the crazy acceleration. After finding out that I forgot to turn traction control off I restarted. Did a couple of runs and I must say that I like to do this. Can't wait to test all sorts of cars on this track. The results for the Aventador's acceleration tests were:

 • 0-400m: 10,857 s.
 • 0-1000m: 19,375 s.
 • 0-100km/h: 3,234 s.
 • 0-200km/h: 9,170 s.
 • Max G-force: 1.13 g

Test 2: Nurburgring Variable Weather/Time lap time

As you can see from the pictures I'm driving a different Aventador this time. Why? Well because this is a game and I can buy expensive supercars any minute I want one :D The track is dry so it's time to see how this car feels in corners.

First thing I notice, understeer while braking. Well that sucks I guess. But I would soon find out that while there is understeer while breaking, it doesn't have to happen. The problems was that the last cars I've reviewed were, apart from the Aston, all low PP frontwheel driven cars. Now I've got a 700+ hp Lamborghini and my braking points are way off.

Well thanks to the little delay in release time I don't have a lot of time to drive it now so I will use this as a way to get to know the car in a lap filled with crashes testing my limits, exceeding them a bit too often. But hey, I'm excited. The level of grip on this car is very high. At first I thought about letting go off the gas when I felt like I was losing control, but then I found out that putting full throttle at such a moment would glue it to the track. I finish my recon lap in a big red 7:31,806. Time for a break because of other things to do and I will return later tonight to finish this review.

rev3y.jpg

Returned after driving in a Suzuki Swift. Now it's time to get back into the virtual Aventador and see what it's capable of. I wonder if people who drive an Aventador use this game to find out how slow cars like the Swift drive. Returned to a dry Nordschleife again and started a new lap.

It took me one lap to post a clean lap this time. The understeer I thought I felt in my first try was mainly because of bad braking points so I adjusted to it and the feeling changed completely. This car is a blast to drive, just as the Murcielago SV. The level of grip on this car is very high. Had a small mistake braking too late for Karussel which caused me to hit the guardrail. Lucky enough I slowed down a lot before so I didn't get a red time and continued on. The fast corner on the striaght was taken at over 315 km/h which got my heart going. The corners following were just as fun to take trying to control the car while braking a bit later than you actually would want to and finished the lap in: 7:24,005

rev4.jpg

Test 2: Supercar Test at Nurburgring GP/F

A couple of months ago I started a supercar test with ten cars. Afterwards that list increased and most supercars were covered. The idea of the test was to give every car 5 laps to set a good lap. All cars were tested with Sport Soft tyres and Automatic gears so I needed the Aventador to use this setting too in this test. Some cars got more than 5 but one car did not need more and reigned supreme on this test and that was the Murcielago SV with a time of 2:04,880. Time to see if the next Lambo can take over the throne.

After only two laps the Aventador, that feels like it's on racing tyres, did just that with a time of 2:04,427. After months the Murcielago SV was overtaken. In the laps after I got better splittimes up to a second faster but screwed up the chicane both times. On the Top Gear review Jeremy Clarkson said that this car misses the feeling it wants to kill you. A feeling that all other Lamborghini's do have. I felt like it wanted to kill me in the crash that followed after I tried to take Schumacher-S a bit too fast. This crash meant the end of the test.

rev2m.jpg

Test 3: A rainy day at Spa

DLC 1 and 3 meet in yet another different Aventador. I set the track conditions to 100% rain and 100% surface water and let the fun begin. First thing I notice is that the sight is pretty bad in the rain with this car. Coming up on Eau Rouge is pretty scary not seeing where you're going. Somehow I got through it. On the straight I found out that the car is unstable when braking in the rain. Hit the gravel two times but somehow managed not to get a red time and finished in 2:54.

The following laps I got more and more in control of the car decreasing my laptimes quickly. But because of screwing up the exit of Eau Rouge three times in a row and a bad braking point before the final chicane I couldn't get another clean lap in.

rev1.jpg

Test 4: Top Gear Test Track Power Lap

I had some more tests planned like a night lap at La Sarthe and some laps on Monaco but it's time to move on to the other 5 new cars. So I changed car one last time and loaded up TGTT. The real car did it in 1:16,5 so let's see how close I can get.

I had some problems getting a clean lap. Mostly because of the speed of this car and the small distances between corners on this track. I've got a huge amount of respect for The Stig for the way he can get all those supercars around this track and make it look easy. My clean lap was the 6th try.

It got off the line with a bit of rear wheelspin. I braked late into the first corner which caused a slide but got through the corners without problems. Had a nice braking point for Chicago and Hammerhead. This car is very good on the exits of these slow corners. It really plants itself on the track. Was cautious in Bentley and Follow-through after some problems there in the other laps and reached a topspeed of 224 km/h on the straight braking a bit too early. Accelerated through the finals corners and finished the lap in 1:16,219.

rev5.jpg

CONCLUSION

I had really high expectations of this car. And it delivered. The car looks and sounds great and PD really got the details right on this one. It took some getting used to a fast car but when I did it was an amazing drive. The grip and sheer speed of this car is unlike any of the other supercars in GT5.

One of my favourite moments with this car was the exit of Chicago. You need to turn right first and then left to get onto the straight. You feel the back sliding but never feel like you're losing control.

The Murcielago SV was on top of the boards but it's time to let his newest brother in the Lamborghini family shine. It only took 2 laps to do what other cars couldn't in months. I'll end this review by going back to my introduction. I said: ''If someone said I could pick any car I want and he'd give it to me I would choose this one.'' I've changed my mind. I'd choose a Bugatti Veyron SuperSport, sell it and buy a couple of Aventadors!

Looks: 10/10
Handling: 9/10
Fun: 9.5/10
Total: 9.5/10

Nice review, the Aventador sure is a weapon. I find it to be slower stock than the Enzo or Mac f1, but that's still ridiculous company to be in. Much more balanced to drive than the SV too

I use the Aventador for 4hr Nurb Endurance Race to break it in...equipped it with Sports Softs...it handles way better than Murcielago SV w/ the same tires

Volkswagen Beetle 1200 '66

ahrweilerstraat.jpg

This is the Volkswagen Beetle 1200 '66. A funny looking old and slow car. But we should be happy that Beetles excist. Porsches were based on the Beetle. You can expect that this car will take a long time to drive around the tests and I'm pretty sure it will handle easy because it won't go fast. So let's take it to Route X and see what it can do

SPECS

Max Power: 33 hp at 3500 rpm
Max Torque: 79 Nm at 2000 rpm
Weight: 1160 kg.
Performance Points: 216
Comfort Normal tyres

TESTS

Test 1: Route X Speed Tests

specialstageroutex1.jpg

I'll start with the top speed test. This car is slow. It's good if you don't wan't any speeding tickets because it won't go over the speed limit. After 4000 meters it hit 119.8 km/h and then I heard a little voice screaming in my head which sounded like Jeremy Clarkson: ''POWEERRR!'' and I knew what I had to do...

Volkswagen Beetle R

Tuned Volkswagen 1200 '66

azuraf.jpg

It was now obvious that I needed to put more than 6 times the horsepower in this car, more than 4 times the torque, put it on a diet, double it's performance points and to top it off put a spoiler on it as big as who knows what, lower it, put BBS rims on it and paint it in some strange colour. Meet the Beetle R.

With it's specs much higher than the original this car should be a lot more fun to drive. I've put Sport Hard tyres under it because as I've explained before I'm not good at tuning so I chose the easy way out this time. Time to get back to Route X.

SPECS

Max Power: 216 hp at 4400 rpm
Max Torque: 346 Nm at 4400 rpm
Weight: 982 kg.
Performance Points: 454
Sport Hard wheels

LOOKS

The way this car looks, well.... Idiotic. It looks wrong on so many levels which makes it somehow right if mathematics is correct. The huge spoiler sure makes a sort of an impression. The same with the poisonous light green matte colour. Still I wouldn't say it looks good. I would be ashamed if I had to pick up a date in car looking like this.

reb1c.jpg
TESTS

Test 1: Route X Speed Tests

Back on the track. The car has some serious problems pulling away so I will need to look at the gear rarios before doing the acceleration tests. The turbo picks up and it shoots away until it finally reaches 239,7 km/h, doubled the stock speed.

specialstageroutexq.jpg

The acceleration test wasn't good. I hope someone on this forum will post a good tune for this soon because I can't do it. Here are the results:

0-400m: 16,800 s.
0-1000m: 28,731 s.
0-100km/h: 9,202 s.
0-200km/h: 28,524 s.
Max G-force: 0,69 g

Test 2: Nurburgring Nordschleife Variable Weather/Time lap time

The conditions are 54% surface water and it's raining. It was a fun lap to drive. Finished a clean one right away. A little mistake at first which made me remember that not all small cars are FWD. This car with rain on the Nurburgring is fun. You can drift through corner after corner and still stay in control. The brakes are good. Only the acceleration is still bad. It really needs the turbo to kick in to get going. The sector after Karussel with all the corners is especially fun. Full speed over the straight and finished the lap with surface water now at 72% in 9:08,405.

reb3.jpg

Test 3: Is there understeer?

Back in Monaco to check if this mighty Beetle has understeer. After some laps I can say there hardly is any understeer. The thing I did find was that this car and track combination is great. I can recommend everyone to take you Beetle to Monaco. The handling of this car is suprisingly fun in the slow corners. Using your handbrake in the downhill hairpin works without crashing into something. After about 5 laps in the 2:00 range I decided to stop and move on to the next test.

reb2v.jpg

Test 4: Top Gear Test Track Power Lap

I've made my mind about how to rate this car so it's time to set a lap on the board. A standing start meant a slow start. Going in to the first corners the back slides away a bit but it's kept under control. Great line through Chicago and no problems in Hammerhead. Letting go off the throttle for a moment but no braking in Bentley. Full speed through Follow-through and a glorious drift through the last corner with a time of: 1:30,823.

reb4.jpg

CONCLUSION

This car has one purpose in this game and that is to make you smile. It's silly looks, it's handling and the way you can drift such a small car sure made me smile. The way to describe it's handling the best is that the front will go where you want it to, but the back has different plans sometimes. Most of the time you will be in full control of this car, making a difficult track like Monaco look like a daily drive. When you tune the car it's a great addition to the DLC. I do have a problem with the acceleration but I'm sure someone on this forum will post a great setup.

Looks: 5/10
Handling: 8/10
Fun: 9.5/10
Total: 7.5/10

Nice review, the Aventador sure is a weapon. I find it to be slower stock than the Enzo or Mac f1, but that's still ridiculous company to be in. Much more balanced to drive than the SV too

Yeah in my opinion the Enzo and Mclaren F1 are one step above normal supercars. Same with the Veyron. So I didn't run those cars on the supercar test.

I use the Aventador for 4hr Nurb Endurance Race to break it in...equipped it with Sports Softs...it handles way better than Murcielago SV w/ the same tires

Yeah the sport soft tyres feel like any other car with racing soft tyres. I'll need to try the car with Racing Soft tyres later.

Jaguar XJR-9 LM Race Car '88

redbullhangar7v.jpg

Next up is a Le Mans winning car. So I know it's going to be fast. I read the description and found out one of the drivers in the year it won was Dutch. It beat a complete field of turbocharged cars while the Jaguar didn't have a turbo. I hope I can handle this car because it has been a while since I've driven a LM Race Car in the game.

SPECS

Max Power: 954 hp at 7000 rpm
Max Torque: 979 Nm at 7000 rpm
Weight: 894 kg.
Performance Points: 712
Racing Hard tyres

LOOKS

It's the first standard to premium conversion and if you look at the comparison thread on this forum you can see the big differences. Also read in the description that it had a big advantage over the other cars in terms of aerodynamics. The most noticable of these aerodynamic features are ofcourse the covered rear wheels. I think the car looks good. I like the livery with the purple and yellow and the aerodynamic shape makes it look like a modern car. Not one that is 24 years old.

I liked taking a look at it in the photomode to see all the details. One I found fun was the button to, what I think it is, open the door. It says push below it. You would think that the people who work in the pitcrew know what the button is for without having to describe the function of it on the car.

rev1na.jpg

TESTS

Test 1: Route X Speed Tests

Doing drag tests in a classic LM racer. You just got to love GT5. Time to see how far the almost 950 hp will take it. The Jaguar reached a top speed of 366,8 km/h. It will easily reach over 400 km/h if you set the gears up for it because it reached the topspeed in no time.

Next up are the acceleration tests. It had a fair share of wheelspin taking off in the top speed test so that will probably influence the car's drag times.

0-400m: 10,005 s.
0-1000m: 16,999 s.
0-100 km/h: 3,419 s
0-200 km/h: 6,739 s
Max g-force: 1.03

This car is fast. I think the g-force reading was screwed up because of the wheelspin. They were still spinning at 100 km/h. The car reached 340 km/h at the 1000m mark.

specialstageroutex.jpg

Test 2: Nurburgring Variable Weather/Time lap time

This is going to be hard. I just know it. Taking it around the 'Ring clean will probably take a few laps but I think I'll enjoy it. I'm lucky with the conditions because there is no rain or water on the track.

It wasn't as hard as I thought. And I got the car to thank for that. It is a joy to drive. No understeer. You will need to check your throttle like any other LM car though. Just be easy on it and you'll fly through the track without any problems. The first lap was good but it was not clean. No strange crashes or anything. Just one time the car steered so good which I didn't expect and it made me cut a corner by accident. Finished the lap in 6:25,444.

The second lap was even better. This car feels at it's best at very high speeds. Like the bit after the first splittime. Even better at the fast section before Karussel where you can take it through the corners at full speed at over 320 km/h and no slowing down because of the uphill track there in this car. It is hardest to control in the section following Karussel with some slower corners. But I got a clean lap and finished in 6:17,669, giving it the top spot on my Nurburgring leaderboard in-game.

rev3a.jpg

Test 3: Back to the 24h of Le Mans

After 24 years this car returns to the 24 Hours race of Le Mans. I'll do one stint in the A-spec race(one of the three races in the game I haven't finished yet) in the car and see how it fares against a field of Group C and modern LMP1 cars. I should warn that my style of driving usually burns tyres faster than other people so you shouldn't use my stint as a reference if you are planning to use it in a race.

I start the race and immediately fly past the Courage C60 and the Oreca Viper in front of me. At the beginning of the straight I only have the Bentley that started in second in front of me. Couldn't get in his draft. On the end of the second straight I catch it a bit and reached 372 km/h. Got close to him at Mulsanne and now I am in his draft reaching 376 km/h

rev4.jpg

I pass him in the next corner but then crash in Arnage, one of my least favourite corners in the game. I didn't fall too far behind and got close to him again after start/finish because of the AI being so bad in the final chicanes. I pass him in the first corner again. After a bad entry onto the straight the Bentley catches my draft and gets very close. I manage to keep him off and get away from him.

rev5.jpg

A bad braking point at Mulsanne and he's in my draft again. I get through Arnage fine this time but he's still on my tail. I pull away from him after the final chicanes again and the Bentley is not in my draft on the straights. Went too fast on the throttle at Mulsanne and the Bentley is back right behind me. A slight bump in the back from him but I keep it on the road. I keep him behind me and enter lap four in first place. I then make a mistake in the first corners and need to get to speed again causing wheelspin wearing my tyres down even more.

rev6o.jpg

Go onto the straight with the Bentley in my draft and the C60 hybrid that started in last place in his draft. The Bentley gets overtaken on the second straight and now the C60 is coming for me. They are still behind me at Mulsanne but very close now.

rev7x.jpg

I keep them behind me and then Arnage strikes again. The C60 passes me but the Bentley stays behind. I know I have to pit in this lap after wearing my tyres with wheelspin at Arnage again and I would really like to pit in at 1st place. I brake late into the Porsche curves, accelerate quick with worn tyres, but this brilliant car hold and I regain 1st place!

rev8.jpg

I pit in, the beaten C60 follows and the Bentley goes on and takes the lead. The pitcrew magically replaces my tyres through the covers and I retire.

circuitdelasarthe200912.jpg

Test 4: Top Gear Test Track Power Lap

It's almost time to say good bye to this car but first it needs to get a lap done on the TGTT. With almost only slow corners and a circuit length shorter than the straights on La Sarthe this is no place for a LM Race car. But it is possible in GT5 so let's test it.

Somehow got a clean lap in the first try which shows that this car handles fine. It is probably not a real fast lap for this car because I was very cautious in the corner exits but I'm glad it made it through. The 24 year old did it in: 1:07.056

rev2p.jpg

CONCLUSION

When I started I was a bit scared thinking I wouldn't be able to get some clean laps in this car. But I can tell you this car is nothing to be scared of when you take care of your throttle. Its handling is very good and its fast as hell. Most care should be taken at slow corners but in fast corners it's like you're driving the less powerful brother of the X2011.

The car showed it still is competitive in the 24h race and even with worn tyres it can overtake faster cars because of the enormous downforce on this car. Its easier and more fun to drive than the 787B but that car still has the superior sound. Next time I will use this car I am taking it to La Sarthe at night. After 24 years the Jaguar is still is a great looking car and is an example of how racecars should drive.

Looks: 8/10
Handling: 9/10
Fun: 9/10
Total: 8.7/10

Nice review.

They write "door open" because it makes the safety marshalls's job much easier in case of a horrific accident like mcnish's

WELL DONE!

I too that they had gotten it right. This one was one of the last to run on the old no chicane circuit. Some of the greatest battles took place with Porsche as the XJR-9 LM still hold the second largest number of kms in a 24 hrs period 5350 about. I have been lucky enough to see feel and touch this historic motorcar at Coventry in my capacity with the leaping cat. I still have my Silk Cut Team wear. Some of its' drivers were the Andrettis, Danny Sullivan, Price Cobb, Jan Lammers, Andy Wallace and Eddie Cheever. One small omission is a Tony Southgate detail, the snorkels that rose from the body work that cooled the rear brakes and moved up and down with suspension. Elegant and functional, can't ask for more!

9/10 Overall for the JAGUAR that made us smile and show our bow fingers!!!!

Thanks for the info. Love to learn all those details about the cars. Didn't know it ran on the no chicane circuit. Probably needs some tuning on the gears on that track because it will reach top speed way before the end of the straight.

Nissan Leaf G

kyotogion2uo.jpg

Time to review the only electric car in the DLC. And all I am thinking is: Please don’t be like the Prius. I never heard of this car before the DLC was announced so I read the description and found out some fun things the Leaf can do. You can remotely control it and you can start the airconditioning from your phone before you enter the car. None of this is relevant in GT5 though so it’s time to test it and let’s hope it doesn’t ruin the good scores the DLC cars had so far.

SPECS

Max Power: 109 hp at 3300 rpm
Max Torque: 280 Nm at 1000 rpm
Weight: 1520
Performance Points: 333
Comfort Normal tyres

LOOKS

My first impression is that it doesn’t have strange bodywork that shows it’s an electric car. They need a lot of batteries and that mostly shows somewhere on the car. The description says the batteries are placed beneath the drivers seat so that explains that. It does have a babyface front like the Prius, but the car doesn’t look that bad from the back and side in my opinion. I think a more aggressive color in stead of baby blue and new rims would do wonders.

rev2.jpg

SOUND

I think it’s strange to drive an electric car. You don’t hear any sound apart from a high frequency tone. I noticed when driving other electric cars in the game my ears would start to hurt from this tone after a while so I will be listening to music while testing it.

TESTS

Test 1: Route X Speed Tests

First let’s find out how fast this car can go. It’s an electric car so it has all the torque available from the start. You notice this because it just accelerates to top speed evenly and stops. It reached 148,7 km/h after about 2500 meters and I didn’t think it would go faster so I stopped.

The car doesn’t accelerate quick. Just evenly because of the electric engine. It reached it’s top speed at the 1000 m mark in the acceleration tests. Here are the results:

0-400m: 18,774 s.
0-1000m: 34,226 s.
0-100 km/h: 12,574 s.
0-200 km/h: N/A
Max g-force: 0.39 g

Test 2: Nurburgring Variable Weather/Time lap time

Dry conditions again. The car starts and I test it’s limits in the first section. It’s slow so most corners aren’t hard to take but the handling on this car is pretty good. Accelerating out of the slow corners can be done without understeer and I broke the topspeed by going 156 km/h on the downhill section before the second split.

On the straights it’s boring because of the slow top speed so I could check out the interior a bit. The cockpit looks quite cool and fututistic and the detail when you look back is good too. You can see the seatbelts but they don’t move while cornering.

As you would expect from a 333pp car I got around the ‘Ring without problems. But the Prius proved this isn’t always true so good job to the leaf. It isn’t the right track for the Leaf though. The track is too big and the speed of the car feels not fast enough. Throwing it in the downhill corners too fast may cause the outer wheels to slide. But I think that only happened twice. Blasted over the straight with speeds of 148 km/h and the Leaf crossed the finish where it just started raining after: 10:13,205.

rev3.jpg

Test 3: Turning heads in Monaco?

Probably not the best place in the world for a small affordable electric car to be. But maybe it can help with the air pollution in between all of the Ferrari’s. It looked like a good track for this car because it lacks real straights and has a lot of slow corners so time to test it here.

Did a couple of laps and it was more fun to drive on this track, but it still felt a bit boring. It is fun in slower corners though because they match the speed of the car. The last section of this track is a good one for the Leaf. I think the main problem of the cars handling is the understeer at corner entries. Adjust your braking points to it and accelerate quick and the corners should be easy to take. The car did laps of around 2:16.

rev1k.jpg

Test 4: Top Gear Test Track Power Lap

Took it to the TGTT for it’s last test and this is another track the car is good for. Some understeering problems in the first corner. Stayed on the inside line of Chicago without problems. This is where the cars handling is at it’s best. It just follows the lines you want. Hammerhead was the same and no braking in Bentley or Followthrough needed. Reached it’s topspeed on the straight right when you need to brake and two good final corners to finish in: 1:44,064. A bit faster than the Corsa which has at least 30 km/h more topspeed.

rev4a.jpg

CONCLUSION
The handling of the car is very good. It just misses real speed sensation which, without gears to play with your revs, makes it a bit boring to drive. Don’t take it to big tracks but stick to smaller, low speed tracks and it feels better. In real world it is probably a practical car if you only need it to drive in a city and it has some fun features, but we can’t use those in the game. I’m glad I can say that this car is not as terrible as the Prius to drive so I gave it the following scores

Looks: 6/10
Handling: 7.5/10
Fun: 4/10
Total: 5.8/10

MINI COOPER S Countryman

poortvanahrweiler.jpg

This is a Mini that is perhaps a bit too big to be called mini. There is also an AWD version of this car and I would have liked that more than the FF version. A modified Countryman is Mini’s new weapon of choice in the WRC but I didn’t follow the WRC for a while so I don’t know how it’s doing or if it even raced already. A quick look in the tuning options shows me that I do have the option to put dirt tyres on the car. So the Mini will get the premier in my reviews doing a rally track test.

SPECS

Max Power: 186 hp at 5500 rpm
Max Torque: 244 Nm at 1500 rpm
Weight: 1310 kg.
Performance Points: 392
Comfort Soft tyres

LOOKS

As I said the Mini is too big to be called mini, but it is nevertheless a good looking car. It comes in white and I like the color very much on this car. The stock rims with the white stripe at the edge are very nice. The upper part of the grill reminds me of one of a muscle car. A detail I like very much is the black stripe in front on the door with the direction indicator light and a little S on it.

rev5mn.jpg

SOUND

The car makes a good sound. When you switch to the chase cam you can hear a nice low growl coming out of the two exhausts.

TESTS

Test 1: Route X Speed Tests

The car reached a top speed of 210,9 km/h. The 4th and 5th gear are very long. When taking off in the acceleration tests there was some wheelspin. I shifted a bit too early just before the 400m mark so that time could be faster. It doesn’t accelerate as fast as I thought it would. It reached 181 km/h at the 1000m mark.

0-400m: 15,984 s.
0-1000m: 28,955 s.
0-100 km/h: 8,120 s.
0-200 km/h: N/A
Max g-force: 0.49 g

rev4l.jpg

Test 2: Nurburgring Variable Weather/Time lap time

Loaded up the Nordschleife and it’s raining with 95% surface water. Still had the chase cam on from testing the sound on Route X and you can see the enormous speedometer lighting up through the rear window.

Got through the first sector without real troubles. Had a couple of bad corners because of the wet track but overall the car felt stable in the rain. The next fast sector was great. You can take Schwedenkreuz without braking at over 200 km/h in the rain. Don’t forget to brake for the corner afterwards though. Sector 3 was a bit hard. It was raining at very bad and I couldn’t see the corners coming up so I was a bit more cautious. Got through it though and saw that the surface water was now at 100%.

rev2z.jpg

The next couple of kilometers were only hard because of the bad sight and the bad braking points caused by that. Still on a clean lap and now at the fast section before Karussel. At high speeds the line of sight gets even less but after a year of GT5 all the ‘Rings corners are stored in my head. Karussel was easy to take and heading to the section filled with corners which I find the hardest on this track.

I get through the section just fine and I must say that the handling of this car in the rain is superb. Sometimes it feels like it’s the 4WD version. The only understeer I’ve encountered so far was in slow corner exits with full throttle. Onto the straight and no braking until at the last moment. A bit of understeer in the final corner but I finish the lap in: 9:26,789.

rev3.jpg

Test 3: Front wheel driving in the WRC

I shall start by saying that I suck at driving on rally tracks. So there will probably be a lot of crashes no matter how good the car is and I’m not going to try to get a clean lap. After some thinking I decided to go with the Eiger K-trail as track.

For a moment I thought I was going to get a clean lap but when the fast downhill section came I knew it was over. The car itself feels very easy to drive on the dirt. But it is FWD so you can’t really throw it around the corners and drift as with most normal 4WD rally cars. It struggled a bit on the steep hill that Fiat 500’s can’t climb, but the other hills were no problem. The way it drives on the piece of normal road with the dirt tyres is very strange. Still was fun to do and it was a while since I rallied. The lap was done in 4:40,100

rev1r.jpg

Test 4: Top Gear Test Track Power Lap

Got a clean lap on the second try. Braked too late for the first corner and understeered off the track in the first try. The clean lap starts with a good first corner. Accelerate with full throttle out of Chicago causing the right front tyre to smoke but the car keeps following the line I wanted it too. Braked a bit too early for Hammerhead. I go off the throttle for a moment before Bentley, but I think it can be taken at full speed because I had a lot of room left. Full speed past the tyres and two wheels in the grass inbetween the final two corners but I’m not slowing down causing me to understeer to the outside in the final corner ending the lap in: 1:33,788

rev6b.jpg

CONCLUSION

The Mini is another good addition to the DLC. The lap on Nurburgring reminded me again why I love GT5. I don’t think I will ever enjoy another racing game where you can’t drive the ‘Ring in the rain. It had no problems with handling in the rain. The only thing was the bad sight but you can’t blame a car for the rain. It’s also a good car if you're, like me, not that good at rallying because it’s easier to drive than most rally cars. It only isn’t as fast as those cars. The times show that the car is not really fast but somehow it does feel like it’s going fast and that’s all I need from a car.

Looks: 7/10
Handling: 8.5/10
Fun: 8/10

Aston Martin V12 Vantage

ahrweilerstadsplein3.jpg

I had to control myself to keep me from using this car sooner. When the DLC was announced I was very excited about this car being included. Another V12 car, the 4th I will be reviewing. I really like Aston Martins. They may not be the fastest of the supercars but they have class and style. The Vanquish was great to drive and I’m hoping this will be too

SPECS

Max Power: 526 hp at 6500 rpm
Max Torque: 580 Nm at 5500 rpm
Weight: 1680 kg.
Performance Points: 524
Sport Hard tyres

LOOKS

I said in the Vanquish review that I liked every Aston Martin’s looks. Someone reminded me in a comment about the Cygnet, a Toyota iQ with an Aston Martin badge on it. So I won’t say that again. But that aside. This one looks great, even better than the Vanquish. The massive vents on the hood show that this car has power. Every line on this car is fluent. No strange thick black lines around the headlights on this one and the taillights are very special. They blend in with the white color of the car, in the photomode they shine like they’re diamonds in them. An elegant spoiler and great rims. Enjoy the pictures, it’s time to drive it.

rev1b.jpg

SOUND

I love the sound of this car. The revving while waiting for the start sounds good and then it takes off and you can hear the V12 engine at work. Just switch to chase cam for a moment and enjoy.

TESTS

Test 1: Route X Speed Tests

The car tops out way before the end at 304,4 km/h. On the accelerationtests the car starts with wheelspin. It reaches 200 km/h a second after the 400 m mark. I love the sound. It also has that counter clockwise rev meter like the DB9.

0-400m: 12,706 s.
0-1000m: 22,361 s.
0-100 km/h: 4,790 s.
0-200 km/h: 13,759
Max g-force: 0.72 g

rev3c.jpg

Test 2: Nurburgring Variable Weather/Time lap time

Dry condition and no water on the track. The first sector went fine. Didn’t encounter any understeer yet but you feel the oversteer when you put the throttle on too fast.

Normally I pause the game a couple of times to write a couple of things about how the car is driving. But I didn’t want to stop driving it. This car handles like no other FR Supercar on the Nordschleife. It will go where you want it to, how you want it to. Do you want a controlled nice line through the corner? Well just drive how you should. Do you want some more fun and do a controlled drift? Let go off the throttle for a moment and put it back on full force. From what I’ve felt on this lap this car is as close to a perfect handling rating as it can get. It did the lap in 7:44,897. Let’s see if it can maintain it’s perfect status in the next tests.

rev2u.jpg

Test 3: Suzuka Variable Weather

When asked what the most tactical track is, a lot of F1 drivers will answer Suzuka. If this car is as good as I think it is right now it should have no problems. But if it does have some faults this track will show them. I will write some stuff while driving this time. The track is dry and I take off.

It doesn’t take long before the brutal S-turns take away the Aston’s perfect handling rating. The corners follow fast after eachother and the Aston understeers while turning into the next corner. The car redeems itself by making quick work out of the rest of the corners. Only make one mistake braking too late for the final chicane. Lap 1 ends in: 2:25,101 and it’s time to head to the S-turns again.

The corner where I understeered last lap went fine this time, but was followed by an oversteer in the next corner. Perhaps a bit too fast on the throttle. But it causes no problems and I continue uphill. Again no problems later in the lap and finish lap 2 about 4 seconds faster.

In lap 3 I get the S-turns right. The trick is to take real car of your throttle, making sure you get the entry for the next corner right. The other corner where you might get troubles is the high speed corner before Spoon. If you take it at full speed you will go to the inside screwing up your entry for Spoon. So watch out for that. I do 3 more laps getting to know the car more and more and end with a best lap of 2:20,164. This test showed me that the handling of the car is not perfect. Or it showed that I’m just not that good of a driver. I mean if F1 drivers say it is the hardest track. Well one more test to find out.

rev4.jpg

Test 4: Top Gear Test Track Power Lap

The Aston is back in the UK. The real car did it in: 1:26,8. Here's a YouTube video as it wasn't shown on TV. Click here for the link to the video. I checked the video first and first thing I noticed is that the sound in car seems very well done by PD. Judging from the video I can expect a lot of oversteer in the exit of Hammerhead.

First try ends after breaking too late in the first corner. The second as well. I hope one day I will finally get it in my head that the first corner of this track is not an easy one.

Third time’s a charm. I get the first corner right and move on. Chicago goes by without troubles and for realism sake I just put on full throttle in the exit of Hammerhead to get that magical drift going. Braked for Bentley, maybe take it a little bit too fast because there’s a tiny slide. Let go off the throttle for a moment in follow-through but I think it wasn’t necessary. Perfect braking point for the second to last corner and a sloppy Gambon to finish the lap in: 1:20,637.

rev5.jpg

CONCLUSION

After driving the Vanquish I really looked forward to driving this one. In my opinion it beats the Vanquish in looks and I would later find out that it beats it in all the other aspects aswell. The lap on the Nordschleife was brilliant. It really was an amazing drive. I can see myself driving this a lot there. Suzuka showed some of it’s flaws but they are outnumbered by the fun this car delivers. It feels on the same level as the Aventador for me, only slower. I saved one of the best for last. If you love supercars that sound good, look good and drive good, you will definitely love this one.

Looks: 9.5/10
Handling: 9/10
Fun: 9.5/10
Total: 9.3/10

A quick summary to show if the DLC was worth the €5.99 from me. Combining all the scores would give the DLC the following rating:

Looks: 7.6
Handling: 8.5
Fun: 8.3
Overall: 8.1

So for me the DLC was definitely worth getting. My favourite car in the pack is the Aventador. But that’s something I knew far before I got the pack. It was followed close by the Aston which also is a great car to drive. I gave the Aventador, Beetle and the Aston a fun rating of 9.5. The fun rating is most important to me. A car can look great and handle good. But if it’s not fun to drive It will just sit in the garage. The Leaf didn’t have to be in the pack if I’m honest but because of it’s handling it still scored enough points to not ruin the average of the other cars. If you don’t have the DLC yet I can now recommend you to buy it.

I had enormous amounts of time the last couple of days because I spent most of my time in bed because of the flu. I will be taking requests now but don’t expect me to bring out 2 reviews a day anymore. Read the first post if you want to request a car please.

I found the V12 Vantage to be quite destructive on tires. RS tires were gone in 2 or 3 laps on Laguna Seca. RM Tires lasted only 2 laps more at most, and ran slower on average by about 1 or 2 seconds.

I found the V12 Vantage to be cumbersome. It was great to drive, but you can feel the weight of the car, which is deceiving because the car's size would have you believe it would weight less, but that V12 engine makes the weight skyrocket over the weight of what the V8 (the one we don't have) is.

I am using it in a 35 lap endurance race on Laguna Seca tonight anyways. I just love looking at it too much.

This is my personal opinion though.

Ok I don't know about Racing tyres. I would expect it to drive even better. Try it with the stock tyres on the Nurburgring. I could do anything I want and the car followed. That lap was one of my favourite drives yet. It looks great and you just got to love that sound :D

...I swear to god, I am going to make my Beetle exactly like that one. I'll even tune it and send you a link if you want ;)

Haha I thought it looked ridiculous :D Please send me if you got one. I'm more interested in a good tuning of the gears though. I love the way it drives now.

I already have 6 V12 Vantages (I love it), so I'll try it out soon.

I would rather the V8's sound over the V12's sound. In my opinion the V12 sounds a bit too whiny. I like the deep roar of the V8 more.
But, I do really like the sound.

That photo looks very good. If you like V8 engines you should check out the Audi R8 4.2 in chase cam. Have one tuned for online races and I think it's one of the best sounding cars in the game. Don't really know what exact mods I have put on it though. I suck at driving in chase cam but that car's sound just forces me to use it :D Don't put a turbo on it. The wistle will ruin it.

Edit: Thanks for the videos. Didn't notice them at first. The V8 does sound better :)

Alfa Romeo GT 3.2 V6 24V ‘04

specialstageroutex1.jpg

There were no requests yet so I decided to take a look in the garage and find a car I did not drive yet. This Alfa caught my eyes. I brought it back to its new state in GT auto. It has a 3.2l V6 engine but it is FWD so I expect some troubles with the handling. The description says the sound is a joy to listen to and I hope it is.

Some searching on the internet revealed that the main idea of this car is comfort. But I will be testing how it is to drive on the track. It carries the name Gran Turismo and now it’s time to find out how it drives in the game that carries the same name.

SPECS

Max Power: 241 hp at 6200 rpm
Max Torque: 308 Nm at 5000 rpm
Weight: 1347 kg
Performance Points: 429
Comfort Soft tyres

LOOKS

It’s a standard so no taking it to photomode with this one. Most Alfa’s have a nice style and this is one of them. The hood with the two lines ending in the Alfa grill are nice and give it another look than most other brands. It has two exhausts on one side. I think it would have looked better with one on each side. The license plate is always an annoying sight on cars with a nose like this.

SOUND

The sound of the Alfa is good. But I like it a lot more in the chase cam where it sounds lower than from inside the car.

TESTS

Test 1: Route X Speed Tests

I unleash the 241 hp of this car and take off. The FWD causes wheelspin but the car seems to accelerate real fast until it reaches the top speed of: 255,5 km/h. Pretty fast for a FF car. Time to see if it really accelerates as fast as I think in the acceleration tests. It does. The wheelspin at the start makes it hard to find a good shifting point to second gear. But after a couple of tries I get it right and the car makes it to over 200 km/h before the 1000m mark.

 • Top Speed: 255,5 km/h
 • 0-400m: 15,030 s.
 • 0-1000m: 26,657 s.
 • 0-100km/h: 7,107 s.
 • 0-200km/h: 24,513 s.
 • Max G-force: 0,50 g

rev1v.jpg

Test 2: Nurburgring Variable Weather/Time lap time

Oke, it has a good topspeed and it accelerates fast. But how does it corner with that FWD? I take it to the Nordschleife to find out. The track is dry and it’s not raining. In the s-turns in the first sector it shows understeer while changing direction. The wheelspin while accelerating in slow corners also cost exit speed.

I brake early for Schwedenkreuz which could have been done a lot faster but. I brake hard for the next corner but they don’t seem to work as well as I hoped because I end up in the gravel. It handles good in the next fast corners but there is understeer while exiting slower corners (<100 km/h) with full throttle. Another problem with the braking at the hairpin after the downhill section gives me a red laptime.

rev2zu.jpg

The brakes do work fine in what I think is one of the hardest braking points on this track, Bergwerk. I get the rpm as high up as I can in the fast section before Karussel but it won’t accelerate past 194 km/h on the uphill part. The corner before Karussel was filled with wheelspin and understeer but Karussel itself went fine.

The next section filled with corners was actually a joy to drive without real problems. The corner before the straight with the gravel next to it was a bit scary when I felt understeer coming up but a little less throttle and more brakes made sure I didn’t go in the dirt again. The car steers onto the straight real good. The corner after the split on the straight can be taken at full speed and the hard braking for the final corners went real good which made me think that I screwed up in the first lap. The laps ends in 8:39,671.

The same trouble with understeer happens in the s-turns in the second lap so when you drive this car be a bit careful with quick direction changes. Maybe a bit too confident I try to take the fast corner after the first split a bit too fast and end up with 3 wheels on the grass. But the confidence works in Schwedenkreuz which I take with almost 200 km/h and brake in time for the next corner this time.

I’m realizing this is beginning to be a long read for one test so I will end it. The rest of the lap went almost the same as the previous but now braking in time for the hairpin. For a FF car this car likes cornering with its greatest strength being the corner that brings you on the straight which can be taken at full speed without understeering off the track unlike most high powered FF cars I’ve driven there. The clean lap had a time of: 8:32,106.

rev3z.jpg

Test 3: Alfa ROMEo

I now take it to Rome which has some difficult corners and places where you need to brake hard. Powerful FF cars struggle on this track most of the time. The corners here are also less banked than on the Nurburgring so it should give a better view on the problems in the handling.

The long corner in the beginning has some understeer so you need to play a bit with your throttle. It exits fine though and the following corner is no problem with full speed. The corner at the end of the straight goes fine but I try to take the fast corner following that at full speeds which sends me in to the wall. The last slow corners show no sign of understeer. Lap 1: 1:27,473.

The second time I take the first corner is the same. Let go of your throttle, steer in and put it back on full just before the middle of the corner. The slow corner before the straight I also one where you need look out how much power you use. The fast corner I ran into the wall last lap needs no braking but just letting go off the throttle and steer to the inside of the track. Again no problems going on the start/finish straight and end lap 2 in 1:26,730.

In lap 3 I search for its limits braking later but the car holds vey good and I end lap 3 in: 1:26,077. I know enough to have a good idea how to rate the handling so time for the final test.

Test 4: Top Gear Test Track Power Lap

Clean lap in the first try. Wheelspinning off the line. I’m really trying to test the limits of the FF nature in this lap knowing how well it did in Rome. Quick on the throttle in the first corner and it works. Braking late into Chicago and again full throttle . The wheel want to spin but the Alfa keeps it inside the cones with ease. In Hammerhead I put full power back on right away and now you can see the understeer. Two wheels on the grass but at least I didn’t lose speed. Playing with the throttle but no braking in Bentley and it stays on the middle of the track. A little misshift just before Gambon but it flies through ending the lap in: 1:29,632.

CONCLUSION

Being a high powered FF car I expected a lot of understeer. But the car doesn’t have that much. High speed corners are easy with this car but when taking a slower corner and while braking you will need to watch your throttle. The lap on TGTT was on of the best so far in terms of fun. You can take it to its limits and still keep it on track.

The sound from inside the car gets a bit annoying after a while but for people who drive with the chase cam it will sound very good. The wheelspin in slow corners happens mostly because of cold tyres because on the second lap on the Nordschleife I didn’t really notice it. Together with some good stylish Alfa looks this car deserves a good rating.

Looks: 8/10
Handling: 7.5/10
Fun: 8/10
Total: 7.8/10

I'll try it. Good idea too. I've only driven the RM'd Tuscan.

1:44 for the Nissan Leaf? That's as quick as the Suzuki Liana Reasonably Price Car!

Great work! :)

Yeah the TGTT is probably the most suitable track for the Leaf. Talking about TGTT times. The Alfa did a real good job. It beat the Beetle by more than a second while it has 25pp less and is on Comfort Softs while the Beetle had Sport Hard tyres.

I enjoy the sound of the classic muscle cars more. I have a Challenger R/T that outcornered a R34 GTR on Eiger, so I can use them well.
I found the problem with my V12 Vantage. I messed with the suspension too much and ruined it. I used another V12 Vantage for the race and it was amazing. It was such a smooth driving car, and so easy on driving, I would definetly run a 2 or more hour race with it over almost any other car.
RM on the front and RS on the back made tire wear fairly even all round.
