My grumble thread for FH4

- Why oh why did they not at least give us the option to play Ranked or Unranked Adventures as anything but Teams? And the removal of the voting system feels like an oversight as well, I still haven't managed to play a single Adventure that is lower than A Class.

- Freeroam Rush in road racing disciplines is a complete nuisance and it feels like they're trying to skew the whole experience towards AWDs again a la FM3

- It feels like there are fewer races in this game than there were in FH3

- Not being able to change cars within an event. Why am I not able to change cars within the restrictions of the event after loading into it?

"Loads of "normal" cars have been sacrificed for supercars, the models are there so can easily be added"

This is by far my biggest gripe. Lots of cars from FH3 have been ditched in favour of sports/super/hyper cars (boring...but kids like these cars so that probably explains it *sigh*)

Where's my Volvo Amazon, AMC 'The Machine' or 69' Falcon? 3 of favourite cars from FH3 :grumpy:

Plus, since its set in Britain they really have missed a trick with cars the could have added, normal everyday cars such as old BMC cars like the Austin Allegro, Marina, Maxi, Princess, A60, Rover SD1, P5, P6 etc.

Or old Fords like Mk3/4/5 Cortina, Mk1/2 Granada etc.

You know, fun cars that would be a laugh to tune up.

Come on who wouldn't want a big V8 powered Rover SD1 drift machine?[/

Would like to of seen a rover P6 or anal mg at
And why a caddy limo in the uk , surely that should of been a maybach

I believe you can change your car before starting the race for all race types other than Street Races? I've also noticed that some races will restrict you to a certain vehicle class, but I've always been able to change my car if I wanted to.

I mean as in after the race has loaded and you're at the menu where you can change difficulty settings, tune, and start/quit the race.

If you want to change cars at that point, say you've restarted the race a few times because you realize your current car sucks, you have to quit out of the race first. It's rather inconvenient.

-The AI rubber banding in the game has to be by far the worse and I only play on expert difficulty because of how bad it can get sometimes
-The AI in the titan race are completely broken for anything above highly average

I like most songs on FH3.

On FH4 I only count like literally 3 of them.
I actually like the soundtrack for fh4 a lot but just listen to one radio station (bass arena) so that really depends on taste. My favorite though is still fh1

I've not noticed any bad rubber banding, aside from that fact that you can never get TOO far ahead of the AI drivers - there seems to be a maximum distance you can get away from the pack, before the game speeds them up to compensate against falling back any further. However, it's a pretty big gap, so it has never bothered me, or really impacted my races.

I like songs on Pulse, Bass Area, and Hospital - I just wish there were more of them. I mostly compensate for it by cycling stations when I get tired of the songs on one.

I think it's less rubberbanding and more the AI just don't play by the same set of physics as the players if they get far enough away. It's very noticeable in cross country races where AI cars far off in the lead will phase through walls and trees while hovercrafting over the rough terrain.

Every time you start your game, go into the audio settings and turn Streamer Mode ON to stop all of the cut scene music except for the music that plays while your at a race start. For some reason this setting defaults to OFF every time you leave the game and you will need to turn it ON every time you play. Its an extra step but its the only way to stop all of the annoying music that plays.

While I'm loving the map, I do agree with others on the poor feeling progression. I Imagine it must be confusing for casuals hearing "some driver's will be going home after this round" "lest se if you can make it through this round" and those people being confused as there isn't anything telling them where they have to finish. Its like playing in free play in FM7 but with pointless sound bites between each race making it sound like some intense championship is going on. You just get too much too early and then when you want to start getting the more expensive stuff later in the game the money dries up.

With the campaign its like they've given too much freedom in an area where a little linearity and challenge, you know where you actually want it, yet the areas where you want unlimited freedom are really locked down, like rivals. The route creator will mean nothing to me if I can't hot lap some fun twisty long routes can be made. The lack of bucket list blue print is a shame too, I used to use it for photos so I could set the time and weather and for just cruising without AI, its not to much fun having great corners if when you get to them an AI is parked on the apex.

Some minor gripes - Don't care for the time not stopping in solo when in photomode and in pause, the really short night, combine both and unlike in previous Horizons where you got to see the full cycle, it just feels like I'm playing at a single time of day. Don't like the fact that there are "locked" locked cars that can only be gotten through wheel spins, I would love to have the Limo and FX4 but cant obtain them through playing them game, just through RNG. Clothes seem odd, there are a lot to choose but not much in the way of normal stuff, would it kill to add a few regular colours of jeans or plian t-shirts, rather than these level caps and car category t-shirts no one is going to wear.

Wheel spins have been disappointing, great if you're a shoe fetishist, not if you like money.

The biggest issue for me is the car list, there aren't many cars I dislike but it always seems my favourites get cut from Horizon, This games list just feels really small and there are a lot of very similar models (One:1, Agera, Agera RS, both caymans, both Avnetadors, both Beetle GRCs, 991 911 GT3s, both Grand Cherokees, EX-7s, I8s etc) and while I love having variants in Motorsport with its much bigger list (sadly the variants appear in horizon but get cut in motorsport), it just doesn't seem right to keep them while loosing some great unique cars to trim down for the smaller car list. I would love to be able to put the Opel GT, Honda S800, etc up against the British sports cars and in general it feels like a lot of the 70's/80's/90's cars got the chop.

This is exactly why I liked the fm4 car list because there were different versions of cars for example in the fm4 Porsche pack there was two caymans and two gt3's

When you enter Forzavista for a car you own, the camera is glued to the ground. This looks cool but makes it hard to check details of downloaded liveries (if you're buying a new car it works fine). If you get into the car and hop back out then the camera will be at standing height. This fix doesn't work if you can't trigger getting into the car, which is the case for some vehicles like the Willy's Jeep.

Next time try pressing down the left stick, should make it a bit easier :D

Preface: I don't own the game

Does anyone here that didn't like FH3 like FH4 more or considerably more? I ask because I got bored of FH3 pretty quickly, and actually preferred FH1 despite the vastly inferior graphics and smaller map. The first game just had more character. FH4 looks like an improvement, but it would be good to hear from people who also had issues with FH3. I see comments about frustration with the day/night cycle, and that worries me because it bothered me in FH3 that nights felt so short and there was no way to pick the time of day, other than blueprints...which are absent from FH4. I see comments, again, about a kind of empty-feeling world...but surely it must be better than the barren, bleak world of FH3, right? From the gameplay videos I've seen, the audio quality seems to be hit-and-miss at best, and probably a downgrade, to be charitable, from the previous games. What say you?

I would say, if you're that worried about spending $10 on a month of gamepass to try it out, then chances are it's not really your cup of tea.

It's more like FH2 than FH3, I never played FH1.

I only have a couple of grumbles. One, remove the $2000(and maybe even $5000) slot from the wheel spins. There’s way too many clothing items, Still I’d rather get a stupid hat, then $2000, that’s just a punch to the nuts there.

I also would like an option to mute Laracer. If I were married to Laracer, and I had to listen to her talk day after day after day after day...one day I would just get up, walk into the garage and blow my brains out. Sorry if that’s a bit harsh. But that’s how I feel about it.

For the moment there is currently one thing I dislike about this game & that is online. In Forza Horizon 3 I would have no problem with seeing other players & online we would drive together since it was more socially engaging since there was a player list top right of the screen & players would look out for one another to drive with.

This game currently when I try & find someone to drive with they just go their own way & not even stop to see with driving with me.

Another thing that annoys me is unless a Forzathon LIVE is on once that is over a big chunk of those players you did the challenges with dissapear not to be seen despite being on the same server with them & less than a quarter of a fraction of players remain & to me makes me feel very isolated where as in Horizon 3 all players were all together, none hidden.

I feel the same with quite a few of the voice over choices this time in FH4 (dodgy accents) but that is a bit harsh

These are the cast and funny enough they didn't look anything like I had imagined them! :boggled:

Huh, the Pulse DJ also voices Shani in the Witcher 3.

Still find it weird that they don't cast actual radio people to play the DJs. I suppose Chris Goss and London Elektricity kinda fit that bill (since they host the Hospital Podcast too), but the rest of them are just actors pretending to be radio DJs.

Licencing and money for a top Radio DJ (or contracts already in place on previous FH DJ's to carry on) may have came in to it.

Thanks! New grumble though, why didn't they add this to the list of actions "key" at the bottom of the screen? I never would have thought to press that (clearly, lol).

I have to imagine some of that is due to many people still completing events.

I'm still pretty much constantly doing something, I'll join random races or whatever, but random time is still very limited.

I'm so busy working through seasonals/races/stories and collecting/modding cars that it seems the hourly Forzathon comes up every time I turn around. There isn't much time for anything else just yet.

- FH4 has blueprints.
- "Bleak" world of FH3...? Sun-drenched Aussie coastline, deserts and jungles with saturated colours is bleak? The map isn't filled with civilians, but you'll see them around towns and at the festival, as well as sheep and other animals in the fields and forests.
- Audio quality is as good as it's always been, meaning there's some cars with incorrect sounds - some are better, some are worse.

The problem is that she's an actor playing a badly written caricature of a Youtuber. She has none of the passion or relatability that a normal streamer would have. She has none of the quirkiness or semi-amateur presentation that makes streamers so interesting. They'd have done better getting any of the number of competent and passionate racing streamers to write and voice it.

I really love the idea, particularly the references to other games, but the presentation of it was mildly atrocious in my opinion. The cliched stunt driver stuff somehow managed to be less goppingly awful.

Are we really sure that Laracer isn't the product of input from Forza streamers?
