My neighbor just got a 350Z!

Truthfully, I think it had both. I believe the original engine was the 2.8, but the one I bought was a few years newer and I believe was the post-Cressida 3.0.

And M5, you're wrong. That Civic was fun to drive because it was extremely light - almost as light a s a CRX - unlike later Civics after the moved upscale a little. It was rev happy and liked to be tossed around. The Neon would have eaten it alive but that is hardly surprising with 10 years of development between the two cars.

I mean the current Civic. Crap, that is boring as hell. The styling is boring, the interior is boring, and maintenance is effortless/boring. The whole car.

RSX = fat chick with a pretty face.

And yes, the new Civic is dull to drive. Hence my preference for my snappy li'l Neon.

My Parents have always owned japanise cars. The first car i remember was our Maxima. It lasted us 5 years without a problem except for an oil leak which happened cause the mechanic messed was high when he changed our oil (didn't go back to him!). The car had 25 miles when we bought it, and when we traded it in it had 300,000 miles. I know that sounds like a lot but it isn't when you drive about 100 miles every day. I actualled cryed when the dealer took the car. :(

After the maxima we bought our Camry ('97 i think) it had 15 miles on it when we bought it and we still have it today (with about 275,000 miles), but the life of the car is almost over. There is transmission fluid leaking out from it.

My sister bought a 99 Corolla and it hasen't had any problems at all.

Before we had the Maxima my parents had an Impala. They learned from that.

Now I'm not saying anything about american cars (because the impala was from the 80s) but don't diss japanise cars.

PS: I know that my opinion is biased. I just wanted to share some of my experiences. Why not just change the transmission? My parents don't know how to drive a manual and its not worth the cost of changing the transmission. :)

I've got a '67 Pontiac with 270,000 miles on it. It's been totalled and rebuilt twice. There have been body parts from 5 different cars on it at last count.

That Supra had 260,000 or so; same as the Civic hatch.

I'm not dissing Japanese cars. I'm just saying that contrary to the opinion of the mass herd of sheep that buy them, they are not the only vehicles worth owning on the face of the planet and there are in fact better bargains available in some cases. For instance here is how Alexy2k represents his automotive preferences:

*Exotic supercars no one can afford*
|
\/
*Hondas*
|
\/
*Other Japanese cars*
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
\/
*Everything else*

It's very tiresome to hear the same old conventional wisdom parroted time and again, especially without any thought or attempt to give actual proof to it. Which leads me to the kind of extreme position I had to take in this thread. I note that Alexy has not responded with any real reply to my request for "solid evidence" (his words).

I just don't want any beef with any one in these forums except for maybe a few people. So, no beef between us?

All of my friends have american cars and love them. I'm not to sure about what i'm gonna get when i can drive though...

No, no beef at all! Alexy and I have been poking each other about the Neon vs. Civic debate for a while now. He keeps claiming to have won, but so far he hasn't offered me any real proof other than polls and consumer magazines.

I'm interested in hard preformance and handling numbers, on a dollar-per-dollar basis. Those numbers are on my side... which is why he's hiding behind customer surveys.

No one can generically state "Japanese cars are better" or "American cars are better". For any given period of time, some particular company is going to have the edge, and some particular cars are going to be better.

Alexy just seems to blindly love anything Honda makes, and that's what I'm trying to prod him out of. Nothing wrong with Honda; they make nice cars. But don't listen to the popular hype - look at the numbers.

little tip for ANYBODY who drives an automatic.. spend the $50 or so to get a tranny cooler/install it. your fluid will love you for it, and you could lengthen the life dramatically :) (of course change fluid/filter, use good products etc)

People are already selling them on the internet (yes i'm slow :weird: )

I didn't feel like making a new thread for this so i'm just gonna post here. I just wanted to thank you guys for making these forums so informative. It actually gave me the highest grade on a test in biology and no homework for a week! The question was "If you were traveling 100km/h on a highway with a speedlimit of 65 miles per hour would you be speeding?" Thanks to reading through these forums i knew that 1mile=1.6kilometers. Thats how i figured out the answer. Now since i got the highest grade, i don't have homework for a week!! Thanks again :)

Neon: If you haven't already figured out what the car is here is a pic of the 350Z for reference...

Thanks. I had pretty much figured it out, but that's the one. It's even in that color.

I actually haven't seen any (pictures) that aren't in that colour - wonder if it's the only one...?

Dang, this is really ticking me off. I sit there and wait for it to say thank you for posting but it doesn't, so i click it again. What do i get, DOUBLE POSTS!! Anyways, sorry about that.

The concept had completely different head lights...
This is an earlier concept but the head lights remained the same through most of the concepts. About 6 months before you could pre order the car, they changed the headlights to what you saw in my earlier pictures. Gold is an available color, i just checked at Nissan's site.

P-O-R-S-C-H-E. Porsche. Pronounced 'Por-sha'. I guess nobody on GTP can spell this word because there are only RUFs in Gran Turismo...
Just poking at you, bigwhl. Nothing personal.
:Poke:

Does any one know if they kept the fake rivets on the new 350 Z? If you don't know what i'm talking about there on the Nissan Frontier (i think) pick up.

They're not apparent from the street, if they did. It seems to be all smooth.

LOL, so the "rivets" aren't real on the frontier? Having never looked at them up close, I took them to be true, bolt-on, fender flares. That's cheap!
