Hey emad, how will I know if it's a Sonata II?

And yeah, the CPU is a Venice. Aside from cranking up the FSB speeds, what can I do with this chip? Is overclocking the core greatly involved? If I can bump up the CPU, it might last longer than a year.

From the picture, I'm 90% sure it's one of the Sonata cases. The difference between the I and II is the cooling duct for the CPU. The 1 won't cool the cpu *quite* as well, but it's still one of the quietest cases on the market.

As for the overclock, if your ram can take it, all you have to do is drop your CPU multiplier and crank the FSB as high as you can. Then overvolt the CPU for that added kick. There's not much detail on his mobo settings, but you can see Mo's results with the chip here http://www.bytesector.com/data/bs-article.asp?ID=529

edit: ok, so it's not a Sonata but SPCR gave it a good review anyways. Antec's cases are still well made, properly cooled, and their PSU's are damn reliable 👍

Thanks for the link, man :) 👍

EDIT: Holy c$%p. 40% overclock on a A64 3000+? That's nuts. I wished he had posted his clock multiplier, FSB and voltage settings. I'd really like to reproduces THOSE results....

Check the CPU-Z screenshot

Multiplier 9x
