Wrong, they run hotter than the AMD Dual Core cpu's. Proven fact done by a site (don't remember off the top of my head which one, but there was a comparison) The Intel Conroe is going to be the first cpu by Intel that runs uber cool all the time (One guy from the Phillipines overclocked his to 5.25GHz so far and runs a little hotter over 50C) And I'm going to over clock mine to 3.0GHz at first and trying to aim at 4.0GHz in the future when I have more money to get a new cpu in case.

Meh, I don't care about fast hdd's really... As long as the OS and programs run on the main one and the data hdd is fine, I'm okay.

The faster HDD you get, the faster boot up times, and programs and games will run faster. SATA is the way to go..........then maybe get a 10,000rpm hardrive.

Not only is SATA faster, but it offers better flexibility. Motherboards now support both SATA and IDE (ATA/PATA/Ultra ATA/whatever) harddrives. But the support for IDE is gradually decreasing. For example, I've seen some new motherboards where it only supports one IDE channel. So that means you can only use one ribbon cable. If you use a media drive that uses ribbon cables, that would take that channel. This would give you no place to put that hard drive in.

SATA can also set up RAID while IDE can't. Oh what else, some SATA drives support Network Command Queuing (NCQ). NCQ takes the list of commands given to it, and then orders it so that the head has to read the least amount of disc to get the info. Plus, the smaller cables will give your computer better airflow.

Manufacturers are starting to "phase out" IDE becuase it's old technology while SATA's the new. IDE isn't really being developed any further while SATA is continually being developed with new features. Going to SATA will give you also more options down the road than IDE will.

You sure that's quite big enough?!

(You know what they say about people with big monitors...)
