if you are getting tired of cars that have massive horspower (600 above)want to try something new in GT2, i got an idea, you should try it :)

first, max out all of the following cars (get the best parts, including Racing Modification, except for LSD do not buy LSD) here are their corresponding hp when maxed out

Aston Martin DB7 Coupe - 531hp
BMW 323Ci - 423hp
Toyota Chaser Tourer V - 450 hp
Chevrolet Corvette Stingray '82 - 391hp
Nissan 240SX Fastback Type X - 371hp
Alfa Romeo 156 V6 24V - 351hp
Mitsubishi Eclipse - 400hp
Honda S2000 - 364hp
Dodge Concept Car - 353hp
Toyota Supra SZ-R - 387hp
Audi TT 1.8 Quattro - 397hp
Nissan 240SX K's - 397hp
Subaru SVX S4 - 384hp

now you may think that the DB7 has a major advantage in power (yes it does) but it also has a major disadvantage in weight (3339 lbs, and that includes Racing Mod:) )

just try it, race with your friends, for fun :)

So i'm not the only person who likes the 300bhp-500bhp class!

I use the TT for alot of races, boy, that thing is fast as lightning!

Also have a race modded Del Sol (not the LM!, the 1.6VTTi or so), 200hp, almost 1000kg, seems nothing spectacular, but that thing corners like hell. Unbelievably fast in corners, lacks power on the straights through.

Here's an idea: give us some tracks and have us post times...that way we can see who's the best out of everybody here.

I wish i could play, but unfortunately i don't have the game nor a PSX to play the game (and now i don't even have a tv to play my ps2 with :( ) but can i give some suggestion as well.Maybe you could add the Mitsubishi FTO and the Mitsubishi Mirage Asti as well. Those cars have great handling and power. The S2000 was a good car to drive (but the S2000 GT1 smokes it like 🤬 ) and maybe even the Lotus Elise would be a good line up as well....

No you're not the only one. By now you should know I'm all about underpowered or poor-handling cars in place of cheat-machines. When I was doing GT2, I never even drove any of the GT1s or Excuseo...even tho you can enter them in any race.

Anyways, I applaud you for starting this thread =drifting24/7=, I totally get where you're coming from. 👍

ok, you ask for it :)

i chose the following tracks because they are great for this class:

Seattle Short Course
Rome Circuit
Clubman Stage Route 5
Grindelwald
Deep Forest Raceway
Autumn Ring

got it?? hope ur happy now, haha :)

It's been a while since I try my "all max" setting :).

240SX K Aero, tuned to 398hp (max is 439hp), no LSD. 1:20.100 at Rome Circuit.

i am way-over-to-the-top impressed!! never in my 5-year experience of GT2 have i done a 1:20.100 on Rome Circuit in a Silvia S14. the best time i could set was about 1:22.5 or something, and to think that you even posted a snapshot, im speechless :)

try the other courses, hehe :)

Using a 240SX K's, tuned to 394 hp (max for this car), I ran a 1:19.733 at Rome Circuit. When I manage to borrow a camera, I'll post a screenshot.

Thank you, that time still can be improved :embarrassed:.

There are two kind of fast driver, one with driving skill and one with tuning skill. I am the later one, I use tuning to make my laptime fast. And my time usually 2 seconds slower than one that can do both. So I think 1:18.xxx is possible with 240SX K.

Good time 👍.

Good time 👍.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. That lap was the only one in the 1:19 range, and I made a lot of laps.

I am more of a driving skill person...I use one general setup that uses the stock settings for the most part. I just mess with the auto setup for the gears, and maybe the downforce. But still, your time was impressive.

Right tuning can reduce lap time by more than two seconds :).

Can you try this setting and see if this can improve your time?

Nissan 240SX K '95, with all race upgrade except LSD, plus TCSC
Tire: Supersoft both

Ok, I'll try that. Here's my setup for this (I didn't use TCSC);

Suspension
Spring rate: 20.0/20.0
Ride height: 85/85
Damper bound: 7/7
Damper rebound: 7/7

I'll try yours and see what I can get, though.

EDIT: Best lap was a 1:19.595, but the car was VERY tight. Mine is a loose setup-change the aerodynamics as you see fit.

Yes, I only change stabilizer from my base setting. If I want better control I reduce spring rate which reduce straight acceleration and grip when cornering.

Well, like I said, I'm more of a driver than a tuner. And speaking of driving, how 'bout another challenge? Your car, my track?

Hmmm....sim tires...never thought of that. OK, track is Grand Valley Speedway, time to beat is 2:08.834.

This car is really hard to drive using simulation tires :ouch:. My best was 2:09. It keep to go straight after braking no matter what I do, but will turn right away if I press the throttle. So for me it's best to brake very early and go through the rest of the corner by accelerating. After learning to drive with throttle tapping this is my result:
451hp Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 V6, simulation tire, 2:06.064

That's one heck of a time. 👍 I really screwed with the settings and used the handbrake to help me....

I try to use handbrake too (with drift setting too), but I feel that my corner speed is a lot slower. I feel the front tire have less grip when the rear tire sliding, so I decide to use grip driving.

I messed with the settings to make the rear end as loose as possible and braked REAL early for the two hairpins...used the foot/hand brakes together to help get the car rotated in most of the other corners. And I STILL came up short. I have to admit, you're good with sim tires.

By the way, what lap did you set that time on? I noticed you cut that off in the screenshot.

i got to say i am impressed, but enough with the S14 Silvia, time to change cars and tracks (excuse me if i am a bit bossy, i own this thread :) )

here is something to challenge all of you. but first, you need someone to compete to..,

choose a "partner" from any member in this site, race against each other with the following conditions:

Alfa Romeo 156 V6 24V vs Nissan 240SX Fastback Type X
-Grindelwald

Aston Martin DB7 Coupe vs Toyota Chaser Tourer V
-Special Stage Route 5

Audi TT 1.8 Quattro vs BMW 323Ci
-Seattle Short Course

Mitsubishi Eclipse vs Subaru SVX S4
-Grand Valley East Section

Lap 2, but it is a restart after many - many failed lap (I try to hide the bad laptime of the first lap ). My car handling is close to understeer than oversteer. This make it hard to go fast at the long tunnel, 85mph max. But it help reduce acceleration waiting time after going out of corner.

I try not to drift the car even when braking aggresively on corner. I will tap acceleration button immediately after braking even if I don't need to accelerate, just to regain control. If I don't do this the car will refuse to turn even after few seconds.

If I have wheel maybe this car is a good car to learn left foot braking :).

Isn't it a bit too hard to the one driving Alfa Romeo 156? since the car I just describe above for it's very very bad braking understeer, to the point it wont turn at all for a couple of seconds, is Alfa 156 using simulation tire.

I have the hp and weight for the car:
Alfa Romeo 156 V6 24V, 463hp 2484lb
Nissan 240SX Fastback Type X, 371hp 2398lb
Aston Martin DB7 Coupe, 531hp 3339lb
Toyota Chaser Tourer V, 450hp 2766lb
Audi TT 1.8 Quattro, 397hp 2625lb
BMW 323Ci, 442hp 2720lb
Mitsubishi Eclipse, 400hp 2502lb
Subaru SVX S4, 383hp 2993lb

Yes, the sim tires make it very hard to drive(well, they should). But go back to your normal settings and throw a set of normal tires at it. I tried just for the heck of it at Grand Valley and picked up 20 seconds on my lap times-it's so much easier to drive.

Anyway, how about you and me, =drifting24/7=, at Seattle? I'll be the James Bond look-alike in the Beemer.

Ok, I'll use TT. Can we use simulation tire again? Even if it's harder to drive and slower, I like it because it make GT2 handling not so different from GT4 handling :).

I've only played GT4 once (I don't even have a PS2), but I guess so. Times to be reported later.

OK, here we go: 428 hp(I think, don't remember at the moment) BMW 323ci on sim tires @ Seattle Short: 1:07.768@131.58 mph. Just for the heck of it, I ran a few laps on super softs after I set the time. Time on S.S. tires: 0:55.468@136.28 mph.

By the way, sucahyo, what part of the world are you from? Because it's usually later in the day here when you're on.
