Tbh switching from Xbox I’ve been unimpressed by the build quality of the ds4. Mine has creaked, squeaked and some buttons have never felt right from day 1. I must’ve put over 5000 hours into the Xbox controller and never had a single issue, ever.

There is a trick whereby after you open your controller, you add 3-4 layers of electric tape to the underside of the plastic R2 trigger that touches the silicon contact pad.

If your software is so sensitive to / can be upset by normal manufacturing tolerances/variations between new controllers/controllers' revisions then this is still a bug. A good software will cater for this especially given the fact that PS4 has to be treated as a uniform platform.

I wasn’t contesting that it could potentially be software related for some. I was merely sharing how my own experience has more to do with physical wear of the R2 trigger, which sounds like something others are experiencing.

I'm using an old ds4 controller which came with my first PS4 I bought 6 years ago. It still works like a charm, although the R2 has less rebound than when it was new.
I have a PS4 Pro for almost 2 years now and haven't touched the controller that came with it yet, because the old one still performs good. I'm still hitting full throttle and the R2 trigger has seen much abuse in racing games and shooters. Thumb sticks are still perfectly fine as well.

I tried the tape method, but it falls off after a while. Super Glue Fix-All Adhesive works very well to fill the groves in the silicon button. Use a fine tip screwdriver to fill in the groves and wait 24hrs before reassembly. I've fixed 4 DS4's with it so far.
It's not the regular Super Glue type, it's rubbery after it cures.

Am I the only one here that uses the right stick for gas / brake?
I used to, back in the PS3 days, but now I find I can't be precise enough with the right stick. Easing onto the throttle is a bit more difficult, as is trail braking. Also makes it harder to use any of the X/Circle/Triangle/Square buttons.

i will have to try to teach my fingers how to drive this way...
Especially MR cars needs a little gas when ever you are crossing s curve and a little brake along with gas will stabilise the car, as clearly showing in the dipper on Mt Panorama

I found a solution, my R2 stick was tired and I couldn't go full throttle ingame, so you have to open your DualShock 4 and cut off that little part a tiny bit (this thing prevents the stick from going down further)

once I cut it off, the car's going full throttle 100% of the time
