congragulations on joining GTplanet, and may i be the first to welcome you. That's quite a nice car.

do it. Sell your family on ebay to get extra cash if you must, but your life is poorer without a ps2 and gt4/ gt3

Well here's my sudgestions....
Get some chassis stiffening modifications, because the Hatch version isn't as solid as the coupe......Next get a nice diff if you don't have one already....Then I sudgest goin for the 20V swap.....if you can't do that....a 3sGTE should do fine....

lol, come on now gotta have some thump, i got super lock lsd by os, hks air filter, trd header, custom 2.5inch exhaust, fart can tip which has come off, thats all you need man it actually drifts quite well. im thinkiong of selling it tho and getting an rx-7

o and last night somebody broke into it and stole my cd player but not my stereo but they cut up my seats wich really piss me off, but i just ordered a mint pair off of ebay =D

Trust me, K-mac the chassis stiffeners will prolong the life of your rear axle by a couple of years. I used to own a AE86 SR-5 with the 16V swap with 200,000 miles on the car, 90,000 miles on the rear axle....and my friends AE86 GTS axle died in 75,000 miles because of the lack of support.

Sr-5's are RWD guy..... and doesn't matter the brand...just get some reinforcment on the rear, even by just welding some rod iron bars to the frame under the carpet on the hatch.......and some upper and lower rear strut bars

yeah...Sr-5's the coupe....only prob with it was..it had the 4A engine.....SOHC carburated **** heap...Lol..and it knocked when I first got it sooo bad...it was almost a REQUIRMENT that I had to get a new engine.....

Listen to Drifster, he has knowledge of all things Automotive. I agree, you need to stiffen up the back, and the suspension is key on the 86 since in stock form it has a tendency to understear.;)

AE86 is just the chassis codes that are from....1986 to 1988 I think...i could be wrong..
But the Sr5 was a 1987 SR5 with AE86 engraved in the engine compartment and on the door insert.....so to the best of my knowledge it's an AE86

The GTS is also a AE86....just.,,.....better..

Back seats, tear 'em out.
Seat belt? tear 'em out
flooring? tear'em out
audio system? tear' it out

your 86 now is light, very light..

now,
A) get a new suspension
B) get a rollercage
C)Bucket Seats with 5 point harness
D) wheels.., lots of wheels
E) LSD.. I think 2 way would work fine..

that's it for now..
 good luck..

First off, welcome to GTP. Now, I would recommend suspension. I'm not sure what's good out there, but here I only go with TRD. You can take everything out of the car if you want that small performace gain, but my Trueno has full interior with radio (original I might add, just newer Toyota speakers) and I do fine. Everyone else basically said everything else.
