It would help if you point him (and everybody else along with it) in the right direction a bit. ;)

I cant help with the snapshots being captured through a capture card. They will never have quality as decent as you can get from CFW screenshots.

The tool I use will pause the game and take a snapshot of the frozen image & saves it to my memorystick. All I do is hit the note button at any point, it does the rest. Where as the method of a capture card takes a pic of the video in motion. Second the tool I use takes a direct screen image from the PSP, not a image of the PSP screen being displayed through the video out cable.

For screenshots CFW with a screenshot PRX or Running the game through IRShell and using its built in Screenshot tool (Thats what I use) gives the Best quality screenshots.

CFW is not illegal, and This plus many other advantages it gives, are the reason I run CFW...

I already thought you were doing something like that. No way you can get crisp shots like that from the analog output. ;) Can you capture replays using the same method?

BTW, this is what I can do from a capture card (after some Photoshop magic ;)):

Yes, but not video to the PSP, its processor is not fast enough for that. However I use the usb cable to transfer the video to the PC screen in its own window, then a screen capture app to record the video.

My new PC (Arriving at the end of this week, or beginning of next) is a Dual core P4 3+ghz with 4 gb of ram, and a 1gb grafix card. With that My videos should be Crisp and clear. :)

However until I get it I'm running on a Dual Core Celleron 3+ghz with 1.2gb Ram, & a 256mb Grafix card :grumpy: This is not good enough to take good videos.

here is a sample...

Ohh yeah, I also don't have any 2.0 usb ports until I get my new PC, this is really causing issues with relaying the video through the usb cable for video recording (Fine for playing games).

This also allows me to play GT PSP with a DS3 controller displayed in full screen on my PC :sly:

Surprisgly enough as it may be, I don't play like that often, I enjoy my PSP on the go more then at home.

BTW You do a great Job on your Photo, and That should be a minimum before posting. Your using a Video out, and your photo is quite nice.... Perhaps you should give him a little advice for taking the best shot through a video out, and PS Magic ;) ...

I think Stew2000's screen are fine for the "legit" method he uses but nothing can touch frame buffer images. Sony can add this so easy. Bounty Hounds has in game screen capture.

Here's what I do:

1. Don't take a screenshot off a moving video/replay. Pause it, then take the screenshot. If you're taking screenshots from the PSP playing live, record it to your pc/notebook first, then take the shot from the paused video.
2. For capturing, use a component cable, if possible. It can output at higher resolutions than the composite or S-video cables.
3. In your photo enhancement software: increase brightness (10-20%) and contrast (10-20%), increase (lighten up) shadows (2-5%), increase saturation (20-30%), apply unsharp mask (around 25%). Actual numbers vary depending on the quality of the source image, but the numbers mentioned here are a good starting point.

Have fun!

Since the PSP uses XMB, I'm pretty surprised it's not in standard in there, like in the PS3.

Bought this game for my brother in law since I don't have a PSP and wanted to see how the game was. I am absolutely amazed at how they were able to get the game running 60fps and still have graphics that looks just as good if not better than GT4! Only thing I'm disappointed in is no modification option at all. All you can do is quick tune the car. It lacked a lot of features that made GT4 a good game but I am impressed with the physics, though. Better than GT4 and quite an achievement for a PSP game.

I seriously couldn't believe how beautiful the game looked while I was watching a replay of my horrible run in an R35 GTR on the Nurburgring. Ran a 10:37! The sound is also very impressive for a PSP game and I notice the tire sound isn't as annoying as it was in previous GT games. Hopefully this means the sounds will be even better in GT5! Here is hoping!

At a big cost to my pocket.

What capture software are you all using?
Nullsoft's doesn't have a pause feature (that I can see) since it was designed for streaming live feeds.

BTW the graphics in GT do suck anyway. they lowered the poly count and texture res for racing.

I'm using EyeTV on the Mac to record it. On Windows, Arcsoft has a nice multimedia studio that can do recording (as well as changing the image settings like brightness and contrast).

It's just not possible to improve my pics without ruining them.
Just doesn't help when PD reduced the quality for races.
I'd rather have good looking cars at 30fps then ugly ones at 60fps.

Amuse S2000 R1.
feel free to touch em up if you want. I like them as they are.

At 60fps the cars are beautiful during replay & during play, The details are stunning for a PSP game...

My screenshots are Direct buffer shots and unedited. This is exactly what the game looks like, looking at one of these pics on the PSP & its next to impossible to tell it from game (Paused gives it away)

I don't know. I think the graphics in this game is a pretty mixed bag. Sometimes the game looks stunning, while other times, I would notice somethings that look horrible. But as a whole, I think the game looks amazing.
