You're correct, Driver Rating has a bigger influence over who you race against than Sportsmanship Rating - a lower DR ensures that you will be racing against drivers with a similar skill level. Hopefully if they are all S SR then you should have a cleaner race......
Actually SR is the biggest determining factor. I’m constantly in rooms Full of SR S but the DR ratings go from A to D.

I never see that, there's sometimes a variance of one rating, but never more than that - all of the rooms I was in tonight were SR S, and DR B or C.

Perhaps it's dependent on whether there are enough drivers with a DR close to yours to fill the room, and if not then you get a wider spread?

Exactly. Dr D's usually have to race against at least a couple DR A's, followed by some B's and C's. I have been in races with only 2 DR D's and the rest higher levels.

I have since started concentrating on racing well and less on avoiding every little contact. My DR is now going up and my SR is staying at S.

Can keep my SR at S without a problem, but my DR is up and down like a yoyo - B one day, C the next, and then back up to B......

Too many people worry about there ratings, and gaming the system to improve it. There are dirty drivers every level. As it has been pointed out if you are just driving around the back by yourself you never learn to actual race someone. I made it to SR A and that was the worst experiences I had online. Lasted 3 races before I thankfully fell back to B, where I still am, but my DR is going up and currently sitting at C. I am not trying to game the system, I race my race, improve my skills and let the rating system fall where it will. When I get to SR S I want it because I earned it, not because I was going for a Sunday drive.

Well, I started at the back for 4 races. Took 3 races to get to A. Ran 1 race in A and just like that... I was at S. Each race I started last and finished 10th or better. My Dr did go down a little, from almost an A to around 3/4 B.

Just updating here, been mostly happily racing in SR-A (and rising) - and to the best of my abilities! I'm still getting torpedoes here and there, but for the most part, ensuring I put in a competitive qualifying time lets me bypass most of the jerks. Still some at the mid-front, but much less so.

Have traded paint here and there otherwise when in the thick of it, but all attributable to hard racing on all our parts. Have had great battles with other cars, too (BB ring is a hard fought race, love it). Bloody exhilarating when it all clicks. See you on the track!
