After owning the T300RS GT for 6 months, I finally decided to solve the overheating / noisy fan issue and also do the ball bearing mod that I've been hearing about for some time.

Looking at the Noctua "solution" I was not impressed by it, firstly because the hot air still stays inside the casing, the fan is quieter than original but the CFM is not dramatically different, and some people report that they still have the FFB loss issue even after replacing the stock fan with the Noctua one.

So I came up with my own solution :D

1. Installed a 8-way fan controller / splitter (no need for 8 of course, but that's what I had) and connected it to stock fan output:

2. Removed the stock fan completely and installed 2x120mm Arctic P12 fans, they spin at around 1000rpm and they are completely silent, not a single sound or vibration comes from them. I made a custom aluminium L profile rack, mounted it to my sim rig directly and mounted the fans on the rack:

3. Since this is not pretty of course, and the air flow is going everywhere, I made a simple cardboard cover for the whole wheelbase along with fans, now the airflow is focused only where it needs to be. It makes so much flow in fact that sometimes my eyes dry out a bit :D And it makes my hands nice and cool, no more palm sweating :D I'm not even going to talk about how efficient it is in cooling the wheelbase, the heatsink it mildly warm-ish at best, even at max FFB and long session.

Regarding ball bearing mods, I changed all of them (top and bottom) alongside the pulley:

As for the bearings, I ordered everything from Aliexpress:
Pulley, 5mm for 10mm belt: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/400...der_detail.order_detail_item.3.3acaf19c4abiyZ
Bottom bearings, 696ZZ 6x15x5: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/400...der_detail.order_detail_item.3.4dcef19ct1H2oE
Top bearings, MR93ZZ 3x9x4m: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/328...der_detail.order_detail_item.3.397af19cQWnGAA

Feeling of the wheel has definitely changed, it's lighter and smoother, FFB is more detailed somehow, it feels more realistic for sure. It's not night and day difference, it won't feel like you switched to DD, but it's better.

And some strong magnets for magnetic shifter mod, removed the inner springs of course:

All of that, alongside the T-LCM pedals, I feel I have a really nice setup now, before going into the world of direct drive, which will come some day for sure :)

Pretty cool system you have built there, I also have the T300rs GT. But the lower bearings 969ZZ seem too big as far as 5mm thickness, 15mm outside diameter, and 6mm inside bore diameter. I could off set a new hole in the bracket to fix the clearance and add a new axel but to stack 3 of these would make me also cut the sides to make room. My bearing adjusters are 13mm in width. How did you achieve this on your build?

Any info would be helpful,
Thank you

Hmm.. I didn't have to cut anything, just swap the stock ones, add two thin washers on each side just to make them spin better and not touch the plastic housing.

Well I found the issue and then looking back I appear to have typed the bearing size down wrong on the first message I ordered the 696ZZ. The 696zz is 6mm I.D. 15mm O.D. 5mm thick/depth. I measured everything and ordered the lower bearings (695zz 5x13x4mm) and Pinion gear (3M-16T-11W 5mm Bore 3mm Pitch Timing Belt Pulley Synchronous Wheel for 10mm Width Belt (bore: 5mm)) and new 5mm rods for the lower bearing shafts since mine appear to taper down in the center found everything on Amazon.

My t300rs is fairly new. It has PS5/PC mode button. I ordered the 696ZZ lower bearings, now I'm not sure if I need the 695ZZ instead. 😱

Quick question, the lower bearings that you've used are 696ZZ 6x15x5mm? If the OD is bigger than the original rollers, will that increase tension and cause ffb issues?

I'm thinking about doing this, i noticed you went for "3x9x4m" on the top bearings. Any particular reason? as i've seen some other guides mention 3x8x4. Just want to make sure I order the correct parts. Also, I appreciate the links and specific dimensions you have provided.

This was the guide that I followed, so I ordered the exact same parts :) And it worked perfectly :)

I sold it in the meantime and went for full Fanatec equipment, but the T300 is still going strong in its new home :)

Sorry, while I still have you - Do I go for the one in the video, or the one you listed (6x15x5)

My T300rs is the newer one, I believe same as you (if that even matters)

edit: I probably should have read the comments before asking that, I think I have my question answered and know why you selected that size.

(For anyone looking at this in the future - Yes, newer model (PS5) apparently requires larger bottom bearings as OP listed)

The 9mm OD is the same as the standard rollers

It does matter, I have the PS5 version. The upper roller's axles tampers towards the end. I had trouble stacking 3 bearings. I used so sand paper to make them fit 😂. The lower bearings shaft has a smaller diameter in the middle, I used some electrical tape close the gap so the 695ZZ fits tight.

From the top YT comment, it sounds like the end of the shaft (bottom rollers) is just a tiny bit larger than 5mm, is that true? Sounds like it fit for you with the 5mm ID bearings? I actually ordered the 6mm thinking that OP has the new PS5 version and had adjusted according to the top comment. I'm even more confused - might hold of on doing this until my warranty is expired lol

Yes the shaft on the upper rollers taper at the end but I forced the MR93ZZ, just use some sandpaper. For the bottom rollers, I purchased both 695ZZ and 696ZZ but I ended up using 3 695ZZ bearings on both sides. The height of the standard rollers are 13mm, 3x 695ZZ adds to 12mm so I added a 1mm washer.

After you install the bearings and roller you have to reajust the tension, only then do you fix it in place.
