Hello,

I would like to show you all my Wartburg 353 model project. Its my first real attempt to completely recreate a car in 3D. I'm not really sure how much time I have put into this thing already, but it must be a couple of month in working hours. It is still far from being finished, but as I will not be able to work on it for quite some time, I decided to show you some work in progress pictures of it.

I know, its not really Gran Turismo quality but I have still much to learn about materials, lighting and rendering settings.

It looks good to me too, keep it up. Side note: never heard of this Wartburg before, time to go look it up I guess.
Edit: Oh, it's the Knight, I knew it had another name that was a number, but couldn't recall it.

Looks great to me. I thought the first picture was a real car the first time I looked.
The car is looking nice. Also its seats and designing is good.

Thanks for the feedback.

Yes the car was known as the Knight in the US, but I don't know if the car was well recived there.

Impressive work, keep up updated! What software are you using, and are you disassembling the physical car in order to do this?

The software I use is 3DS Max 10. As reference, I used a blueprint/schematic of the car and over a thousand photos.
The car was build in revers order starting with the bodywork, ending with the frame and suspension. Whats left to be done is basically suspension and some interior work (pedals, rear seat belts). The last part I worked on was the muffler/exhaust system.

Here are the frame and some of the suspension parts. Note: those are very early WIPs.
