@RuddRacer did you see my updated time for grand valley east? Here is my lap times for the Audi.

Sorry @SilverSE102 I missed it. I may not have gotten any notification of activity since your time was an edit. I will update it now.

I like this car. :mischievous: I was able to push it very hard at the Nurburgring,
I knew that the 4200R was a little on the slippery side so I wanted to offer something this week that you could drive hard and work on your racing lines rather than how to keep the car on the track.

No problem, and thanks for picking a car that I can actually keep on the track rather than the walls and grass or backwards. At Laguna Seca I might be able to knock another second off, I am having some issues with some of the corners. I am thinking of changing the brake balance to a lower number to see if that helps, it feels like I am either braking to late or to early. Nice lap times, 👍 it seems i am not to far behind at Laguna Seca.

Thanks, but you are right on my heels :scared:, not a huge surprise since you beat me at GVE last week. Should be another close contest between us this week.

In the corners take full advantage that only 2 tires are needed to be in contact with the track/rumble strips at any time. I lowered my rear brake bias for better stability under braking (can look it up when I'm on if you want). IMO its usually better to break early so you enter the corner properly and that will allow you to get on the gas earlier.

At GVE I have experience with that track so it was a little easier for me, I'm going to try to get one more round in tonight before time is up for this combo. I haven't messed with the brake bias yet, I'll try it to see if it helps.

There is still a few hours remaining if you want to submit a time for any of the week 4 (Audi R8) events.
It's getting a bit late in my area and I'll be off to bed soon. Sorry.

Managed to complete both tracks, had to have tc set at 2 for this one. Still working on my throttle control.

Nurburgring

Apricot Hill

Edit: I was able to improve both of my times a little bit, I turned tc off so only thing on was abs and driving line.

Edit #2: @RuddRacer i have new times for both tracks, I think I am at my limit now.

@SilverSE102 very nice improvement at Nurburgring in particular! 👍 (should give your confidence a boost going faster while not using TC). Did you ever find out if there are any zip utility's for your phone? I think you would find it helpful if you could download my replay on your system to watch and or use the data logger to compare with your lap.

So I don't miss your updates go ahead and make a new post when you have new times to submit. Apparently tagging does not work when its done via an edit, I just happened to see your update when I came to update my times.

To maintain variety I'm planning on using a little faster car next week, but nothing too crazy that will fly off the track. (I prefer to keep the lap times below 8 min) Don't worry I will equip it with the proper tires so its not like driving on ice, but a little throttle control will be required. Just don't forget to increase you braking distances to account for the higher speeds.

OP leaderboard updated with your times and my new times (below)

Thanks, :D:tup: Nice times. While I was at the 8:31 time, I tried to do something different. I threw caution out and tried to just go for it, I was a little on the edge of my seat. I tried what you were saying about the 2 wheel rule, I think I can knock another second or two due to I lost some time on the final uphill before the finish (almost lost it). :scared:

I have an iPhone 5, I looked in the App Store and I did find a few zip utilities. The current problem I have is I can't get anything from the App Store, I can't access my account on my phone because I had to put my security questions in and forgot what they were. So I reset the questions but they went to my old email which I can't access anymore, I have to contact Apple so they can fix it and have it sent to my correct email. Problem 2 I might have is transferring them from my phone to my old computer, it may not allow me to pull anything off of my phone so I can transfer it to a usb stick.

Great Job. 👍
I bet if you "straddle" all the apex's and drive as you normally do you could shave 15 seconds off. There is a video posed by RS__96__oO on rosckoloves thread of the winning GTO lap that you could watch to make sure you are using the proper racing line. Nailing the apex usually leaves you in better position to accelerate early which will get you to the next corner faster. Most often if you try to get a quicker time by going faster and being more aggressive you brake too late and start missing the apex. I struggle with it every day.

I was thinking you could connect the phone to the PS3 and it would see it as an external memory device. Probably less chance that would work on an apple phone. I wonder if I could attach the replay file to mail message and send it directly to your PS3 from mine.

I just looked at my replay, I don't think I can get much faster than 8:22 being a perfect lap. I was hitting most of the apex's, but I found something bad though. :(:irked::banghead: Where I said I almost lost it. I managed to get 3 wheels in the grass, I didn't notice it until I watched the replay. So that lap time is invalid now, :banghead: that first lap time in the picture I posted is valid.

I tried to connect my iPhone to the PS3, it only will charge the iPhone it does not recognize it as a storage device. I just checked to see if I could send you a replay file and it won't allow me to send it.

Sorry about your lap....if going off did not give you an advantage then there is no reason you can't get that time again with a clean lap.

I'm at least 10 - 12 seconds slower than top aliens at the Nurburgring and I'm currently at 8:15.xxx. I suspect you still could gain some time by improving your racing line, take a look at this lap I have from one of the 'ring gods in a NSX.

It was worth a try. Don't forget to use youtube to check for replays of fast laps at different tracks for guidance, its the next best thing.

I've updated the OP. Hang in there, improvement comes slowly and in small amounts at a time.

Just managed to get my best lap, it was close. :scared: 2 tires in the grass and the other 2 on the rumble strip, if that is considered dirty let me know and I'll try again. Improved to a 8:25.697 on the first lap and then I went out for one last go and managed a time similar to the one that was a DQ. Thanks for the encouragement. :D:tup:

I think I know what I need to do, it's a matter of getting the car where I want it on the track. I watched that bmw video, I am hitting some of the apex's like that but not all the time. The biggest problem is I am not using the entire track around the bends.

Red and white rumble strips are considered track! If I recall all tarmac and concrete at the Nurburgring are legal so as long as you don't touch anything with your car and two tire are always touching the track (or above it if airborne) your good.

Great job, 👍 do you realize you have improved your time more than 10 seconds in just a couple of days????

Thanks, :D I made sure I watched the replay to make sure it was clean. This week I was able to put a lot more time in due to being on vacation from work, when I work I am lucky if I get 2-3 days at 1-2 hours of seat time a week.

Week 6 Event Now Available

Car: 2012 Lexus LFA (Nurburgring Package) / 554pp, 590bhp, 1480kg (w/ oil change) on SS tires
Event 1 - Nurburgring Nordschliefe
Event 2 - Red Bull Ring

Reminder: Its the last day to submit a time for the week 5 events.

OP Updated.

Nice car, it may take me a while to post a time for the Nurburgring, I am having trouble keeping it on the track. I am doing pretty good keeping it from going sideways but I am not used to going that fast without the AS around this track. The key for me is not to shift below 2nd, by doing this I haven't gotten it sideways yet but if I do go into 1st I'm doing donuts. Same goes for the Red bull ring, but I did manage a clean lap there.

The key for me is not to shift below 2nd,

I'm pretty sure I don't ever use 1st gear at the 'ring with the LFA. I think there will be more problems related braking instead of acceleration with the LFA.

Here is my initial times. (did them last night but did not have time to post before quitting)

Nurburgring
7'00.696

Red Bull Ring
1'34.863

There is a lot of improvement to be made a both tracks, it takes some time to take full advantage of the grip of the SS tires when so many of the past events have been on CS or SH tires.
