you need a max drive, or sharkport.

and a PAL ps2 and PAL gt4.

updated leaderboard.

looks like i need to have afew more runs im slipping down the order

I received my DFP yesterday. :)

Couldn't match my DS2 time on the first couple of attempts but managed a 7'26.

I know I can get a lot of time off that ... practice, practice, practice!! :)

BTW, very nice time holl01.

You guys doing this with the Regular M3 or the M3 GTR ??

^^ Would like to know too!...
As I'm assuming one can only use the M3 & NOT the M3-GTR or the M3-CSL (?) correct?

Also, for clarification, the lap is to be completed in GT mode right?
I only ask because of post #16 & #17...which referenced Arcade Mode, so this has confused me just a little bit! :-(

If the lap is to be completed in GT Mode, then can we max out the HP as far as we want or is there a limit?

However, if the lap is to completed in Arcade Mode, then I can see how everyone has a more even playing field as only so much HP (Horse Power) can be achieved.

Thanks for the clarification 👍

Post #1 has all the information you need for this:

Small_Fryz
Post your fastest clean lap times and T times as well if you can manage.

Arcade BMW M3, max power, min weight S3 tyres (sport soft).
all aids set to 0 (shouldnt need them at all)

OLR rules apply

No cheating
2 tyres on track/rumble strip/cement at all time
No hybrids or Max codes etc
No wallbanging / wall riding
Also post your controller type

In Arcade mode select BMW M3 + S3 Tyres and decrease the weight of the car and increase the power. Oh and turn off the traction control systems.

Then go for a long drive on the Nürburgring.

if you think i should make it clearer in the first post, just say what you think i should add.

Thanks racybacy 👍

Got my DFP today so tonight i will see what i can do :)

If anyone is still trying to beat my time of 7'11.xxx, I tried it again a few times and now my best is 7'10.623, so thats the target everyone.

Ok, gave this a go with the DFP. It takes a bit of getting used to but the wheel is faster than the DS2 (for me anyway - obviously not for holl01!).

I have been getting under 7'20.xxx but with a few tail slides on the grass. :guilty: What do you expect with 406bhp going to the rear wheels? :)

Sector times:

T1: 0'45.463
T2: 1'20.482
T3: 1'49.477
T4: 2'42.133
T5: 3'22.346
T6: 3'50.835
T7: 4'42.615
T8: 5'27.286
T9: 5'49.678
T10: 6'32.832
T11: 6'56.507

LAP TIME: 7'20.497

Will keep you all updated when I improve again! :D

yes DFP is faster if you can keep it togther, ive been practising and its not long until i will break the 7:20 mark.

Leaderboard updated

Anyone know of a fast Nurburgring NTSC-NA replay I can get my hands on to get some tips?

I'm at 7'28.403  (with a slight barrier touch exiting a turn so don't add it to the leaderboard SF :ouch: ).

I can see a 7'25, but any more than that and I'm lost as to where you guys find all this time at. Is there a short cut I don't know about? :P

No shortcut that I know of either! :)

My best advice is getting the correct lines. To get these you need to be going relatively slow in to some corners which goes against every instinct you have. Make sure you have a good exit speed on bends preceding long strights/wide open throttle sections as this gives you a lot of time too:

You can make up time at Bergwerk Bend (brake late and don't cut in too early - it's deceptively long and gets tighter) and then blast up to the curve at the end of the Kesselchen striaght. You can carry a lot of time through here if you have the nerves to keep the foot down.

The last right-hand curve before the long Döttinger Höhe is a beast but it's really tricky because of the adverse camber. Just make sure you get a good exit speed and you should be hitting 180 mph :scared: before you brake for the Tiergarten passage - this bit is really scary!

However, Pflanzgarten is causing me major braking (you are trying to slow down while the car is in the air - be sure to take the crest straight) and understeer problems. From then on the course is very technical and you can make a lot ot time here. It takes guts to keep the foot down.

I know the track pretty well now but there's still loads of places where I could have braked later, taken more speed through etc. That's what's so magnificent about this track: No drive is the same. It's a constant learning curve.

Good luck tuff because the Nürburgring Nordschleife is going to take over your life!

Makes sense (slow in, fast out) and I appreciate the advice. 👍

I think it already took over my life! :dopey:
I keep seeing a spot race that sounds interesting, but then I'll see one that has Nurburgring in the Title and I always click on it first.

Most fun on it so far is the Streamliner with S1's and no TCS/ASM over at GTTimes. Not many times submitted, but a fun drive for sure! 👍

The secret, as RacyBacy mentioned, is maintaining momentum throughout the course, which translates to breaking early, and accelerating through the corners to maximise exit speed into the long straights.

Hitting the apexes/rumble strip and even putting two wheels on the grass is also a good tactic, cos it means your using the whole road (and more), therefore you increase cornering speed.

Basically, to put a stunning lap together on any track, you have to work out the limits of what your car can do on each an every corner.

Hope my comments are of use, yours trully, Daniel.

Thanks a lot Daniel 👍,

gonna try with my DFP in the next few days see if i can get below 7:20.

BTW, how many laps have you run on the nürb?

Are you gonna join the WRS (See sig to join)?

Gave this another go and managed a 7'18.446. :)

IMO, to get a cleap lap under 7'20.xxx with this combo is pretty difficult so congratulations to anybody who can do it!

I hope (after lots of practice) that I can master the ring and match your time, holl01. 👍

Holl01 went off track once in his 7'11 lap. He hasn't posted the replay from the 7'10 yet.

Rudi Raser's 7'12 lap is OK. I've made a video of it, but can't get it to upload ATM.

Yeah i noticed that Hol01 7:12 was dirty, but pretty much as soon as i found out he posted his next one.

Daniel would you be kind enough to post your 7:10.xxx replay please?

Leaderboard updated with RacyBacy's time good stuff there mate 👍

Sorry bout that dirty lap, I had a feeling that I went off on that corner but I wasn't sure. Isn't it that if you have two wheels touching the concrete its alright? Here is the 7'10.692, done with ds2, manual. it looks clean to me. I could probably go a second faster i think

can we get a seperation of the PAL times and NTSC times? seems like there is some differences between the 2 versions.

And what difference would that be djmr2.

Before i do that i would like to see some proof.

ahh yes, well i can't give any "hard" evidence unless someone posts the source code for GT4... but it would be nice to know which versions people are running IF there is any difference. Noone can prove whether there is any difference or if there is not.

it would just be a "nice" thing to know.

well, ive been a part of OLR for a decent amount of time and ive never come across anything to suggest that a certain time is harder or easier on PAL than NTSC.

Ok, then if its possible can you guys post your versions as well than?

Thanks

Since the car is the same as the WRS qualifier I decided, based on Small_Fryz's invite, to run a few laps around my beloved Nordschleife. While I've driven this car quite a bit I've never driven it on the 'Ring, I always went for the CSL, nor have I ever "tuned" an arcade car prior to this (adjusting power/weight). Also I've been running a RGT and CTR around the 'Ring alot recently and this BMW is so much easier to handle than either of my faithful Rufs...especially with the sticky tires.

So after 3 laps;

7'18.863 / DFP / NTSC-J, Japanese

It's a clean lap, not tidy, but clean. I left alot of time out there which I will try to claw back after I am happy with my WRS time, still have some to gain on that too...

Oh...I have yet to see a major difference between the versions of GT4 (NTSC-J, PAL, NTSC)...well major differences in the cars that are in all versions (like this one). The one thing I have noticed is that the game version that show power in HP (horsepower) are 1-2hp down after conversion than the game versions that show PS (like my NTSC-J version). Other than that I haven't seen any differences. Fast guys are fast guys regardless of the region of the game :)
