Nissan 350Z Roadster
Amazed at the work we saw on the Skyline Coupe, we convinced the team at N-Tune to fly us over their 350Z Spyder for some track testing. Our hopes were high, and they were nearly met. The rolling road gave us 358bhp and 451Nm of torque, just as were written on the piece of paper stuck under the wipers.
We headed to the test track, where we pulled the stopwatch out. 0-60 came in a surprisingly swift 4.7 seconds, a 1/4 miles in 13.1. The top speed on our 10km bowl was 185 mph.
The first thing everyone noticed though while we were doing these tests was the incredible noise that was coming from that racing exhaust. We were so pumped and could hardly wait to get back to the Twin Ring to throw it around some corners.
It certainly wasn't as lively as it sounded, we're sorry to say. It would certainly grip in well, but that was somewhat the problem. The car turned in that well, with minimal understeer that it almost became boring. The quick times lap after lap became almost dismal. Annoyingly, once you push it beyond the limit, it will not slide out, just meerly understeer into the gravel traps. That said, we were lapping in 1' 33.8 seconds, with the fastest lap being 1' 33.576. Fantastic times for a front engined car, for the price that it is.
On the negatives, however, if you're looking for a car to play ball with the smoke, I think you're better off looking at a different model.
The positives far outweigh the small drawbacks though. A brilliant car to drive fast, easily. A fantastic car to learn how to lap the more complex circuits in, and frankly a beautiful looking car. A great effort at a car that previously handled like a dog.

Thanks once again for another fantastic review. I never really meant for the car to get sideways, what I wanted was pinpoint handling and excellent engine response.

You now have 2 pending requests.

both of which you achieved, the pinpoint handling may be a bit sluggish, but I fear this may actually be due to the power steering in the car giving up when you throw it in
[side note]This means my batteries in my wireless controllers are dying[/side note]

The car, is of course, still in our possession, where over the next couple of days we will be pushing the car even further on more circuits. An update is on the cards.

It is a G35 Coupe but I found my model under Japan->Nissan.

It appears in full as a Nissan Skyline Coupe 350GT, the first after all the "real" Skylines.

Review: White Sky

Before I start with this review, I want to say there were two things missing on this car. Brakes and a controller, FC trans. I know you don't do the trans, but on straights I got ran down like I was standing still. The final drive would have been great on cornering. As I wouldn't have to downshifted in the next low gear. The brakes would have been good on stopping on those runs up to 150 or so mph.

on with the review. the car handled good for a budget skyline. I have a hard time upsetting this car and I tried to. I put 100 or so miles on the car on different trakes to see if it was up to the part. and it was. I have been using this car alittle more. It's a BMW killer too. The car just keeps pleasing me. I think the tune is great. First gear is a smoke show to. I just love driving this car. keep up the good work.

Pros: Didn't cost much to build, fast in the corners.

Cons: no brake controller, brakes, trans. that's all I can think about right now.

upside: all around car. Just drive it. 9/10

Thanks for the review Shoman, your comments have been well noted.

As you have reviewed a car you may ask for a request car to be built to your liking, if you don't need a car feel free to make a suggestion for what you want to see in the garage.

Well nothing right now man. I would love to see more 4000mm or less? I like them myself

Review of Daihatsu Copen ss

One the smaller tracks this thing is fun. CL trans was matched well. The car turned well. I wiped the field with it. It's just a fun car. 82 hp of corner burning car. Theres more to this car than it looks like. Good job on it.

Welcome to N-Tune Performance Vehicles, Second Stage. Let me clear up the Second Stage part a little bit. After producing 7 different vehicles we found ourselves right out of ideas, so we went away for awhile and we have decided to make a few changes for the better. We are now more committed then ever to bringing the public well thought out and generally better cars. We have even moved offices, We were set-up around the Suzuka West Circuit but now we are building a brand new office adjacent the Twin Ring Motegi East Circuit , expect all our new cars to be tuned on that circuit but not necessarily FOR that circuit. We aim to provide cars suitable for all tracks worldwide.

We also wanted to be more focused on certain types of cars but we still haven't worked that on out yet so feel free
to make any suggestions as to what you want to see.

Rules

  • We are an independent tuning company, run by one person. I would like to keep it that way.
  • No Race Cars.
  • No Prize/Concept Cars, This is so everyone can sample my cars. You can request prize cars for any of your reviews.

Guess What, If you review a car you can request for a car to be tuned to your liking, Don't like it? I'll try again to fix it. Still don't like it? I'll get someone else to do it!

Obviously the first thing we did when we moved offices was to move the cars over first, trying to learn the track. So here's the deal. Come down to the Twin Ring Short Circuit and test one of our favored cars around the track. Post a time, tell us what it is (we aren't going to ask for photo evidence) and we'll put it up on out leader board.

Remember watching your dog chase the cat across the backyard, or the kitchen. It may not have been your cat perhaps a stray or the next door neighbors. Well what you see here is the biggest, baddest, scariest cat you'll ever see. This cat may look like it running from the other cars, being in 1st but actually it's chasing down 6th place to overtake them. This cat is the meanest and it likes to shout about it. You'll also notice that this cat is called the XJ-ER, that stands for Enduro Racer, that's right this car was tuned on S1 Tyres, it was made for this kind of racing and the other cars better hide in fear.

If your the type of person who likes to finish races first time take a set of R1/R2 racing tyres.

Go for it bud, 👍 I'll put a few more car's up soon I hope as well as my own personal bests for those cars, will the humble GTP users be able to face the might of N-Tune built setups for CamryFan himself? Probably but it should be fun anywayz.

Well I don't have a way to put them up I broke the camera. But I would be a tester for you and all. As I'm working on a tune I will test your's out and all.

Hey Hey a second, this is a completely trustful area, you don't have to upload video or photo evidence, post a time and tell me what it is.

Interesting Jag, Camry. I did an XKR for the Laguna Seca endurance race a couple of years ago. I shall have to dig her out and see how they compare .

Another Jag ey, You'll see a review from me pretty soon to see how yours compares to mine.

I must have misread. White sky knocked down a 1'32.886 on the second lap. :) I will do more as I have the time:tup:

Sukerkin I will try out both of yours Jags. I also like what your doing Camry:tup:

I'll have to push a bit harder to get those lap times tumbling down me thinks.

Interesting Jag - When I've completed 25% of the game I'll put it in an endurance event, otherwise, it's to the ring with me

Hey, No problem. I got some other cars that I might get to work on soon, just finishing touches mostly. They're FF monsters and two of my fav's. Stay Tuned.

Any real 'Yota Fans (No, not rotor, Toy-oh-ta oh never mind) should know the Starlet GT, making use of a specially made, non shared 1E-FTE Turbo motor. What we have here is a very exclusive, very rare outside Japan, Toyota Yaris RS Turbo. Mostly likely created in vain of the old Starlet GT, the turbo sound tempting but the power was not up to scratch, Enter The N-Tune Performance- Yaris RS-Special Edition. Power took a spike via new brains and new turbo's up to 195BHP, city suspension was hacked out for sporty, stiffer suspension. This ain't no normal "Sporty" Suspension though, this stuff's so tight it will lap Twin Ring in low 1:39's and at 980Kg it ain't exactly a heavy weight, the Redline's at 6500, use all 7000RPM.

I tried out that 350Z of yours Camry, and had a lot of fun with it. It's very stable and has really easily controllable oversteer.

It certainly deserves a FC tranny, but I didn't have the time to set one up. Once I get a bit more time with it I'll do a proper review.

OMG OMG OMG, PF reviewed one of my cars and liked it.

There is a lot of buzz around my cars needing FC Transmissions. I might have to reverse my policy on using them them. Take your time with the review, I'm sure you have plenty of more important stuff do be doing. :sly:

We've jsut driven your Nissan, Camry, the second-last review before starting on TCv4.

My comments: As above, mostly good. Very stable but wuite responsive in many cases. However, I found myself driving this car like a fat Merc or Aston rather than a lightweight Japanese car (haven't checked the weight). It's all about controlled slides (not drifting) and early braking while hitting the right line. My driving partner (let's call him Mr Lawrence) is a bit of a newbie, but you should get a good eloquent opinon out of him

My biggest complaint is the poor response while braking from high speed due to restricted weight-shifting. The front seems rather stiff and tells me this is the issue, but I can't go back to test it with a softer front.

Mr Lawrence's comments: Acceleration during cornering can be quite risky. [He had to go when the rain started]. [On return he got it right after seeing one of my laps].

Wheelspin while cornering into corners or out of them, unless you're facing dead-straight.

Not only does it look snappy, but it is a great drive after you leave first.

Suggestions:
I'd like to see the full tranny. Much of my time was spent using the gears to induce or correct oversteer, so being able to precisely set the gears would be good.

We've got a really bad storm about to pass over, so I'll turn off and come back to edit this when there is less chance of being electrocuted.

Thanks for your review PF.

You brought up many strengths and weaknesses which I greatly appreciate. You even mentioned somethings which I weren't fully aware of so I will revist that tune, possibly over tomorrow or the weekend too re-evaluate the car and add a FC 'box too it as well.

And just so everyone know's, "N-Tune" is now a hobby and my main focus will be on the reviews.

Thanks for your review PF.

No wuckers Camry, your reviews of other tuners' cars are all the thanks I need.

Before the storm hit I was trying to figure out my probs with the car, and ti's still playing on my mind. Suspension seems too stiff, especially the front, but how would you change it without mking the tricky oversteer even more tricky?

Also, the 78/98 ride doesn't work on my game (I think?), had to go the higher setting. Can ypu check that setting please?

Is the car's stability due to the fact that it's stiff as ... you know? Hence the understeer noted by Mr Lawrence? I'm still going on the point that I found it travels like a fat Merc rather than a zippy Nissan.

Hey bruv, you gonna put up that RX-8? Have put a few laps on it recently and would like to take issue with some of Parnelli's comments.

First a question: would it not be better to, rather than stock LSD, have fully customised and increase decel value? This is an honest question, I can't tune those things for crap.

I agree re braking, though it was far less of a problem for me than for Parnelli.

While I encountered much of the understeer ty referred to, I was usually able to get a comfortable amount of oversteer in it, largely by dropping a gear early (or mid-corner) and sliding through the early part of the corner rather than late-braking. This may be the 'wrong' way to drive the car but just felt natural to me.

I did have problems with unexpected oversteer mid-late corner, sometimes on the throttle, other times less predictable. I would've thought a slightly stiffer rear stabs/springs could have helped but when I checked they seemed pretty stiff already.

Also, I must agree with Parnelli's comment about sluggishness. Some of the TCv4 cars virtually jumped out of their skin on corner exit but you really had to wrestle this to get even a mediocre speed.

Pls take this as constructive criticism; I actually really like this car, and when driving it yesterday thought 'why did we mark this so poorly?' The reason, of course, is that we were comparing it to 12 other tunes, some of which were truly sublime. I'm keen to see the updated version Camry, good luck with it. Though I must confess, you're better off taking in ty's and Parnelli's input than you are mine, thier reviews are brilliant.

EDIT: Just read ty's comments and agree almost entirely.

Ahh the RX-8. Never have I been so confused about which direction to go with the re tune of a car. I got some interesting results in terms with the scores so it seems that its suited to some other tracks or it was more or less generous judging. As you and Parnelli both have said the RX-8 isn't actually a bad car it was just out classed on the day.

In answer to your question I'd rather get some other tuners out to answer that question so you actually get the best advice but I'll take a stab at it. If I were to tune an LSD it would be for traction purposes. Since the RX-8 didn't have any traction issues due to a long legged gearbox the point of and LSD becomes null and void. Taking notes from Scaff's tuning guide my understanding is that an increase of decel value with customizable LSD would actually aid in reducing lift off oversteer caused by instability on corner exit.

Answering the main question, Yes I will release the RX-8 hopefully before weekends end (instead of by weeks end, see that) and yes it will be different but hopefully not to drastically different.

I'm playing with the gearbox at the moment, it's a lot shorter now so the car feels quicker.

Also any comments at all are welcome so thank you, your opinion are just as important as anyone else's.

Hopefully I was able to answer your questions.

Edit: The cars really odd, it's a bit of a dog. Buckets of corner entry understeer but then if you start getting creative it turns to oversteer.
