Perhaps.

Still, I can't understand racing in which causing accidents is not only acceptable, but expected.

Again, I don't watch Nascar but isn't that what it's all about? Big wrecks, lots of speed and testosterone?

No, its about speed and skill, like any other Motorsport. The reason they are always spinning or crashing is because the have no aids. They have 850HP cars with RWD and race close together. If one car gets to close to another one car will take the air off the back of the other one and cause it to spin. If you want to see NASCAR at its best watch a Talladega, Daytona, or Bristol race. Oh and NASCAR'S saying is, Rubbin's Racin', so there :D. They are going to hit eachother and thats what makes it NASCAR, the cars can take the hits and keep going. Its fun to see cars with donuts on the side and all scraped up and still going.

And why is everybody comparing NASCAR to F1? They are nothing alike, its like comparing Soccer to Basketball. Give it up. The goal is to race cars and come in first, F1's style is to not hit eachother and basically follow the leader, NASCAR's style is beating and banging all the way to the end.

Probably the best explanation of Nascar I've ever read 👍

I can absolutely appreciate the cars not having assists and being a handful.

Still because the cars can be so brutally abused, I'd wager many drivers sacrifice a clean and fair race for the sake of position.

I believe that it is hard to drive Nascar. You have to make the turns juuusst right, especially in an oval. Close racing is also hard, but you have that everywhere. In F1 there's not as much close racing, but it's entirely different sport. To me, F1 is more exciting because I grew up with it. Plus, there's more variety in tracks, the corners are different. Every corner is different and a new challenge. Ofcourse the tires deplete every corner a bit and you have less fuel so you have to adjust a bit, but that's everywhere also. In Nascar it's the same challenge over and over again on an oval. It's boring in that way. Just to see the cars doing the same corner over and over just doesn't cut it for me. And F1 cars themselves are more exciting. More power, more aerodynamics, advanced technology. I choose F1 above all kinds of motorsport, not only Nascar.

PS. But what is this thread doing in the GT5 forum??

PS. But what is this thread doing in the GT5 forum??

Because it started out beign about how NASCAR isn't as easy as it looks and whether that difficulty could be achieved in GT5.

It just went downhill from there.

Well i guess i started something here with this thread. I didn't mean to start a heated argument i only meant to prove my point. I love racing the F1 in GT5P and i think they are probably the most technically advanced cars on the planet. So i have nothing against them. I'm just saying that NASCAR cars are hard to drive like many people disbelieve. Overall i'm very exited for GT5 and i'm very exited to see people's reactions when they hop in to a stock car for the first time in the game. It will all be interesting and most importantly fun to see.
