Did you mistake this for a NASCAR game? Were you under the impression that its fan base is really enthusiastic about ovals? GT is a global series, and the globe doesn't care much for ovals and doesn't care much for a niche motorsport.

"But it's the most popular in the world!" No, it's the most popular in the US. We are just one of more than 200 nations on Earth. "It is shown in over a hundred of them!" Yes, but having twenty viewers in Bullcrapistan is enough to count as it being watched there but not enough to matter.

"Why you gotta hate on NASCAR?" I'm not. I'm hating on fans making out like it's a bigger deal than it is. Liking it doesn't make it the best, the most popular, the most influential, most important, or most challenging, and doesn't make their drivers the best in the world. The fans always seem to think so, though. I remember, as an example, someone wanting motorsports in the Olympics, and explained their dream including various Cup drivers named as hypothetical winners, which is technically possible but improbable.

That was quite the rant when the guy asked for a couple more NASCAR ovals to be included in GT6 when the series already had/has the NASCAR license. Well done.

Sure, I think Martinsville could be an interesting course to master and would like Darlington or Dover. Don't really have much interest in Mile and a half or bigger tracks outside of Daytona and Indy. Simon was right it should go in an existing thread though.

I love this it looks like your arguing with yourself.

I tip my hat to you what a great way to show how the argument will end.

By making it go down that path is a great way to show how it will eventually go down that path?:scared: That's like a Yogiism.

I would love to have an oval short track.
I have a custom track called “4.3 Oval” made by *.

It is a .43 mile nearly perfect oval. I normally run it in my room when NASCAR runs the ½ mile tracks. The people in my room seem to enjoy it. Normally I do 3 lap races, but I usually do 12 laps here. The problem is, it is a little short and it is a kart track, so the starting grouping is very close.

Floor it – Brake, Floor it – Brake, repeat as necessary, it really is fun.

I’d love to have a good short track.

* AUP: "You will not post any person’s private information within the forum but your own."
I don’t think I can say who made the track.

I don't get how it can be fun to drive such a short course without every turns? Racing is only fun with lots of turns and different corners for me. maybe it's because i'm from europe :D

It is different, you take the inside, or the outside. It can sometimes take several laps of side by side racing to overtake someone or be beaten.

In the mean time the guy behind you is gaining.

Crazy fun. Continuous situational awareness is a must.

GT5 doesn't really need any more stock cars, but adding Charlotte, Bristol, and Pocono would be hella fun.

And definitely add the option to create ovals in the track "creator".

Would you deny that iRacing is a global series? Why then do they have so much NASCAR and oval content?

Maybe the more variety the better?

Maybe 3-4 ovals with roadcourses used by Formula 1, the ALMS, MotoGP and other top road racing series built on the inside isn't such a bad thing?

You know, why do I even bother watching motorsport outside of F1, considering how its the most popular, most influential, most important, most challenging, and has the best drivers in the world.

Oh wait, none of those things actually contribute to the quality of racing for the spectator in F1. But they do contribute to its appeal, at least for those who want to hang on the coattails of the sport to make themselves look better. Why be grouped with redneck fans in NASCAR when you can be seen cheering along side the wealthy, sophisticated celebrities of F1! Wait, what was that? Most of the world is made up of 2nd or 3rd world countries who are incapable of developing a top tier motorsport series so thats why the globe likes it so much? Wait, what? And dont forget the fact motorsport is usually only the preferred sport of less then 10% of any population, wait what? You mean this whole thing is fighting about table scraps? Yes.

Your crumb is bigger then mine. Enjoy.

As for short track oval racing, I wonder what the quality of it will be like when not using NASCAR. NASCAR built cars high in weight and high in power to make them race well on ovals. How well will a Ford GT race against a Ferrari F458 on lets say Bristol?

Personally I'd say give us one more 1.5 mile oval, Texas or Charlotte, both of which have infield road courses. Let us build short track ovals with an improved course editor.

NASCAR in GT5 was embarrassingly bad.

The fact that the player is crippled by driver aids which can't be turned off, while GT is trying to simulate a series that doesn't have any electronic driving aids whatsoever, is beyond infuriating.

I felt as if the sole purpose of its inclusion was for promotional trailers, and so PD could claim how diverse GT5 was. A bit like how Sony was boasting about how GT5 had 1000 cars - a hollow claim.

If it was implemented correctly with some additional tracks like Bristol and Watkins Glen and about 20 cars, I would be pleased. But if they can't - I hope PD gets rid of it.

Yeah just looking at the NASCAR Nurburgring Hot Laps its obvious how far off the physics are. Try to drive like that in a real stock car around that joint and you'd probably die.

Drafting needs to be fixed, too. It hurts the road racing but absolutely ruins the oval track racing. Oval racing is about small differences in driver talent or car setup making the difference. In real life the draft doesnt help nowhere as much as it does in GT5. In fact in real life turbulence from the car in front of you hurts the handling of your car in the turns more then it helps your top speed on most ovals.

I agree with more tracks, and I can live without cars. If I wanted to drive stock cars 200 MPH around an oval (with physics that doesn't make it so awkward compared to previous NASCAR games) I would pop in my copy of NASCAR The Game: Inside Line.

Now, I think tracks such as Pocono and Phoenix would be a great addition to the game. I think you could make different cars work at NASCAR tracks, especially on the longer ones like Pocono.

I agree that Pocono and Phoenix could be added to the game while enhancing the quality of racing overall, as the tracks are versatile. I think Bristol would be fun to have given that you're essentially racing in a bowl. Charlotte (or any of it's identical intermediate-sized cousins) should be added as the last of the ovals.

Of course, Watkins Glen and Sonoma would also be welcome additions (or re-addition in the case of Sonoma)

The NASCAR experience in general needs to get itself together for GT6.
Nearly all NASCAR drivers, more year versions and rosters, more paint schemes, not having to pay for every single car (just a base model of a particular year and then buy paint schemes or drivetrains, engines, etc. from certain teams), an entire championship, and pretty much all tracks.
Of course, they (Polyphony Digital) most likely won't.
:irked:

When GT announced licenses for NASCAR & WRC, I saw those promo videos and thought we would get all current cars(2009/2010). Then surprise, later we got the 2011 NASCAR update. Same would have been good for Super GT300 as well.

Here is what I'm going to say about NASCAR in GT5 and more of what I want in GT6.

When I (and a lot of other people) heard NASCAR would be implemented in GT5, I basically felt like going to PD's offices and giving each one a thank you. We (NASCAR fans) had been without a new game since 2008, and we never had a decent game at all for the PS360 at all, and knowing the Gran Turismo series, I thought it would be amazing. As a lot of people had said, I was disappointed.

Now, that was before I learned of NASCAR the Game: 2011 (possibly the worst racing game of all time).

Anyways, here is what I want.

I want more drivers. I'm not asking for a full 43 car field, but I'm sick of seeing multiple drivers with the same car.

I want better physics

I want to see more tracks (see earlier post)

I want to be able to qualify (and this goes for all other series as well)

That's all I can think of right now. Point is, PD can make NASCAR a good part of the game if some of the above stuff is put in.

Thank you. You're a sensible NASCAR & Gran Turismo fan like me.
PD needs to put their head out of their 🤬 or it will be handed to them.

I personally would like to see NASCAR excluded from gt6. It's boring and the cars are ugly.

Typical narrow-minded response.

Take me for example. I personally don't like F1. I think it's boring and the cars are a bit too easy to handle for my taste. You don't have to manhandle them like you do a NASCAR car (GT5's NASCAR physics are terribly inaccurate). However, I more than welcome F1 into Gran Turismo. Why? Variety. The more the better. Even if I don't care much for F1, it is nice to hop in them every once in awhile to mix things up a bit.

I'll go out on a limp here and say that races like the 24 hours of Le Mans is way more challenging that F1. Then again, I hate Formula One. :)

Yes, Sonoma needs to come back. And Watkins Glen would be an excellent addition.

Keep NASCAR out of this please. If you wanna drive in circles in a car that looks like a billboard buy a NASCRAP game and enjoy driving in circles for hours at a time

First off, if you're not gonna post anything useful, it's better to not post at all.

Secondly, if you don't like NASCAR, why'd you even post here? Posting negative things like that will only get people to flame you and cause anger.

Thirdly, you seem to have quite a closed mind if you're judging a sport just because they race on oval circuits. If it's that stupid and easy, then how come more people don't do it? Because there's tons of money to be made in the sport, Jimmy made about $15,000,000 one year I believe.

OT: Id like short tracks, but I believe that they need to better implement NASCAR with what they have now before they put more NASCAR tracks in the game. Otherwise they're just useless.

Its a bit different

Motorsport drivers/riders in the Top 100 paid athletes of 2012.

#19 32.0 million Fernando Alonso (F1)

#20 30.0 million Valentino Rossi (motoGP)

#21 30.0 million Michael Schumacher (F1)

#23 28.5 million Dale Earnhardt Jr (NASCAR)

#28 28.0 million Lewis Hamiltion (F1)

#42 23.6 million Jeff Gordon (NASCAR)

#47 22.3 million Tony Stewart (NASCAR)

#53 21.5 million Jimmie Johnson (NASCAR)

thats all in the top 100

Its funny how the shape of ovals is bashed all the time, but thats exactly the thing that makes the racing unique and exciting
