Forgive me for not having any knowledge of sports, but what exactly is "flopping"?

Faking an injury or overblowing contact so that it looks more violent to draw a penalty.

It's getting really bad in hockey too, I'd like to see more leagues cracking down on it. It's sometimes dubious but it's often a lot more clear nowadays with full HD video from 1000 angles at every game.

Ohhhh. Fake injuries are so hilarious and pathetic.

What good would it do, they won't stop diving if they are just going to get fined for it.

They should give players an official warning when it's a clear dive and if they do it again start giving them a ban every time. Maybe even deduct teams points if more than one player from the same team ends up banned too.

Just insta-red card them whenever they dive. Harshness is sometimes the best answer.

You don't want to do that, too many will end up off because the refs got it wrong. Diving shouldn't be handled by the refs but by a panel after the match.

Well duh, of course we check the incident with a video replay before handing penalties. :sly:

The above message was thoroughly meant to mock Mr Blatter.

Forget fines. I'd like to see five points docked for every flop on court, in addition to free throw points that are thus invalidated.

Who cares about a few thousand dollars in fines when you've got a multi-million dollar salary and an NBA championship?

Monetary fines alone are bunk. You've got to hit players where it hurts. Take away their "W's" and flopping will end in short order.
