My wife and I went for our second scan on Friday and got the all clear that everything is ok with the baby so we can finally relax, so far we've been quite anxious even though it is our second but with a toddler to keep amused there's less time to worry. The baby is now 21 weeks and is due on 1st January but as our first was a caesarean this one will be too. We'll get a date for that in a couple of weeks but as it needs to be at least a week before the due date that would be on Christmas Day! We're assuming they will want us in and out before Christmas so I'm guessing it'll be around 21st December. It'll be slightly weird getting a date for the birth in advance but we won't be finding out the gender so that'll be a surprise.

EDIT: We've been booked in for Wednesday 29th December due to Christmas, the weekend and bank holidays. It's a bit close to the actual due date but she should still be home for New Years Eve.

My first lads birthday is the beginning of December so my future Christmases are going to be very expensive :ouch:

I'm trying to charge up my sleep batteries now before my wife decides I only need an inch of bed space and the new baby comes.

There aren't enough GTPkids :D Congrats!

You'll need to get Baby Crouch* a Playseat, a G27 and a 3DHD TV you know.

*like Kneel, only smaller

Thanks guys 👍

Famine - I thought you were suggesting my wife had been messing about with a lanky Tottenham striker but then I realised you were making fun of my name, unfortunately you're not the first :(

It's a long shot but I might be able to pass the playseat off as another baby receptacle :D

EDIT: the internet has just informed me the baby is now 27cm long crown to heel!

 I could remove the exclamation mark if you want ;) It seemed inappropriate to incorporate evil into an amusing title so I just thought I'd be descriptive.

I'm hoping my son/daughter (amend in 3 months) will forgive me for giving them such a pap time to have a birthday, does your lad hold it against you and more importantly does he still expect two lots of presents?

Thanks mate :)

Congrats Neal
Have fun trying to convince the female that you need to play GT5 after mini-you pops out... :D

 Congrats mate. That's awesome news. My daughter was born the the 21st of December last year so I'm starting to get the picture that I will never make it through Christmas without a lot of spending

Congrats Neal ;), so that's why you're not Evil anymore, your big light hearted daddy. :D

If I had to quantify it, I'd put him at about 70% of what I would consider the "normal" amount of presents for both Christmas and his birthday, were his birthday not in such close proximity, by proxy putting my other son at 70% at Christmas because they have to go lick for lick when opening destroying the packages.

This year he isn't getting jack 🤬 'cause we've already sunk $6000 into the Disneyworld trip (we leave on his birthday). :ill: Meh. You're only 5 (or 6 in the case of Thing 1) years old* once, right?

And if it means that much to you, you can keep the exclamation point. :P

*Physically, not mentally.

Congrats Neal... it seems everyone's sprouting about. I ought to stop getting girlfriends in their 40s and start aiming for younger women, maybe even *gasp* settle down.

Thanks everyone :D:tup:

It works on a token based system of dirty nappies changed and night time feeds for minutes of gameplay ;) There may be objections to shoving the baby out the way to make room for the wheel stand though!

Gonna make another Gruffalo room?
Congrats on you're second ;)👍

It’ll just be inheriting my first lads nursery for now but if we do anything like that in the future I’ll make sure the stickers are out of reach so they can’t all be peeled off like has happened with the Gruffalo ones :ouch:

That’s it mate  I’ve finally turned into a big softy.

So what you’re saying is it’s going to save me money twice, sweet :D I’ll just have be disciplined and save up throughout the year which may be a problem as I rack dis-a-prin.

Shouldn’t that be the plan all the time :sly:

It’s all good mate, kids go to bed early so you still get to watch movies in the evening :P

My wife and I have been to see the consultant today to discuss what we want to do about the birth, after a 5 day labour that ended in a cesarean section last time there was no way we would be opting for the natural route and had already decided we wanted an elective cesarean. They usually book you in for a week before the due date but as that would be Christmas day and there would be a risk of respiratory problems for the baby if it was delivered any earlier we are booked in for Tuesday 28th December.

It's kind of weird knowing when the baby will be born in advance although that is assuming it doesn't decide it's coming before the 28th! I'd hoped it would be before Christmas but aside for the health risks there would be a good chance my wife and the baby wouldn't get out of hospital until boxing day which wouldn't be fair on our son...besides who would cook me Christmas dinner  (if I don't post again you'll know my wife's read this and killed me!)

I think it's hit home today that I'm actually having another baby soon which is awesome and scary at the same time, I just hope this one sleeps as well as our first did...and doesn't mind the sound of me sawing away on the DFGT mixed with generic tyre squeal ;)

Apparently being driven around in a car was the only thing that would put me to sleep as a baby!

Awesome news, Neal. So I guess you'll be among the first to beat GT5, since you'll onoy be able to play until late December?

That explains a lot, it wasn't in the Cortina was it? presumably your Dad wasn't trying to set a fast one at the time ;)

Thanks Diego, with a pregnant wife to keep pacified I'll be lucky to have had enough wheel time to get my super licence by the due date...after that all bets are off so don't expect to see me online much for a while :P although I'm sure I'll find time to roam around here

Might well have been a Cortina but probably a MkIII - I'm not old enough for it to have been a Mk1 ;)

Congratulations to all parties involved! Good luck to your family.

I reckon it's quite economical to have a child near Christmas. Then when they get older and ask for presents on their birthday, say they just had Christmas - and that it'll be too expensive. And use the saved money for a nanny so you can play more GT5 :D
