I kinda liked Rivals.
+ Ferrari is back. No matter how much I dislike the company I still like (some) of their cars.
+ Open world. It's nice just to kick back and cruise around.
+ Customisation (
alright, "Personalisation") is back.
- Always online. No real pause button. Sure you can opt to play offline only, but that sort of kills the fun of it. And when you do play online, the game goes into an awful slow-down for whatever reason (not sure what this is like on current-gen consoles).
- Customisation is too restrictive at the moment. It's nice being able to decorate your car with new paints, vinyls and stripes (I love my
prototype-liveried C-X75), but where are the bodykits, wheels and other visual modifications that people are crying for? At least give us two or three personal kits per car like The Run.
- Sarge obviously isn't being allowed to make another Burnout by EA probably so he's taken the only logical route and hijacked NFS.
- It's buggy as hell.
- The car list feels too small, and when you've unlocked the fastest cars the ones before them become useless. There are no races which restrict you to using them.
- The map is a decent size, but it is too restrictive. So what if I want to go climb a mountain or drive into the sea? Why can't I do that?
- The maximum amount of players per game is far too low to fill up the map. I still don't understand this. If games like Forza and Gran Turismo can cope with full lobbies of 16 cars that are far more detailed than NFS's will ever be, then why can't NFS?
In a word; disappointing.
