Okay, so I bought the GT2 game of a buddy of mine and play it on my PS2. I sit down to play it this weekend and play my way through about 10% of the game:P I figure out that saving the game chould be a wise decision after awile.

Alas, that is not what the game wants me to do.

The game cannot find any memorycard in any of the slots. "Most peticular.." i mumble to myself. I sit and try for awile before I get a tingling feeling saying that my memcard has fallen into the claws of satan himself:(
So i reboot the PS2 and checks my card in the browser. Works fine
Boot up GT3... Works fine.
Boot up FFX... Works fine.
Try to save GT2 again after yet a reboot (just in case:P) and it still will not save my game...:(

What can i do?? :scared:

You need a PSX (=Playstation 1) Memcard for that. PS2 Memcards are not compatible with PSX games.

I don't think so! I'd check eBay, you can get heaps of them there for like no money. I'm not sure if those work in a PS2 through. If you want to make sure, I'd recommend to get a whole PSX at eBay, or get a Gran Turismo for the PS2, like GT3, GTC or GT4 Prologue.

Thanks. i'll scout the net for some cheap psx and place a bid :)
It would have been great to have an entire collection of the Gran Turismo series. Hope to reach my goal soon :dopey:

In the meantime, back to GT3 👍
I've reached 75,5% and still heck of a long way to go before GT4 hit the shelves

Try your game store. They'll probably have used PSX cards. Don't bother with a PS1, that's just silly. Still...........why on earth are you playing GT2 on a PS2?
 ;)

Dude, that's ridiculous, you don't have to get an entire system off of eBay! I personally bought my first copy of GT2 on eBay! and it turned out the guy sold me a version 1.0, full of glitches & game bugs.

Just go to your local gaming boutique or CD shop (assuming there's one near you). These places buy & sell used games, DVDs, and memory cards. You can get used Playstation 1 memory cards for like $3.00 nowadays. I've bought at least a couple fistfulls of cards by now. Sometimes, you'll get a dud, so get at least 3 cards at a time just to make sure at least one or 2 of them work..it's a hell of a lot cheaper than bidding for a PS1 online....

Make sure you're buying a Sony Playstation card, though. I recently found out that Nyko & Intec brand cards will not work on a PS2 system, and so to be safe make sure your game is saved on a Sony card.

I wasn't sure if those cards will work in a PS2. If they do, the original ones at least, I do agree with you. 👍

Why not? I'm up to 40% in GT2 on my PS2. Istarted playing it again. :D

I have 2 non Sony PSX cards and they both work fine on the PS2. Occasionally 1 card isn't seen by the PS2 but as it lights up and flashes when you turn the PS2 on you can easily check before loading and getting into a game and so you can re-start. It is usually then picked up.
