Need help - grounding the rig/cockpit.

Hi everyone, I'm having an annoying issue with my GT3 RS and CSP, here's the problem:
I have a steel cockpit and every now and then my wheel and pedals disconnect for a few seconds, I've looked this up and found out that static electricity might be the problem. I've noticed that GT3's power supply plug doesn't have ground connector so it means I'll have to ground it myself.
The problem within a problem is that my room where my cockpit is situated is on 1st floor of my house so the question is - how to ground it?

Cheers.

Do you have any three prong plugs nearby? Is the house wiring properly grounded? If so you can just buy a plug at a home store and ground it through the outlet. Make sure your house wiring is grounded first. If not you will need to wire up a separate ground.

Problem still occurs.
My brand new GT3 RS/CSP disconnected tonight 4 times in a row in an online race.
Interesting thing is that all the times my wheel did that I was sweaty.

I'll have to buy a cable and ground it through the socket.

Man, I was having the exact same issue (you even posted in my thread). I think I solved it by simply removing the carpet underneath my aluminum cockpit. If you can't do it, grounding through the socket should do the trick. looking forward to seeing your follow-up. In case mine starts PMSing again I'll try it.

Btw, a good game to catch this is any Codemasters game. It pauses the game whenever the wheel disconnects. So to test I started a time trial event in F1 2011 with my dummy ps3 account (so my stats don't get messed up, i'm a bit paranoid) set my TV settings to PIP so I could watch TV in the meantime. Turns out it disconnects completely randomly, I didn't even need to be on the race seat. Within 5~10 mins it would disconnect and from then on completely random. Took carpet out and had 2 straight hours of sweaty hands gripped around the leather (insert "that's what she said!" here) without a single hiccup. I found this method quite good for troubleshooting and diagnosing.

Thanks for the tip mate.
I'd love to do that but my room's all wooden (floors, walls) and my carpet is permanent so I can't move it.
I'll ground it via the socket.

The problem is that GT3 RS's power supply doesn't have a ground wire so that's why it happens.

This happen 4 times in a row yesterday in the middle of an endurance race online. Was mad to say the least.

If you have a water pipe in the room such as for the heating system you can use that to ground.

Yeah, I do but the socket is closer.

Grounded the cockpit.
Bought a 2m cable and a plug from the store, cut the cable up, took 2 wires out and left only the ground wire in, connected the ground wire to the plug and the other end screwed into the cockpit. Plug in the socket, wire in the cockpit, shouldn't have anymore problems now.

Can you tell me how I do this please I’m having EMI on my motion rig. Can I take a normal UK plug remove the the two live and earth prongs and attach a wire to the ground prong and then connect to the rig will that work?

Hi there, did you get this sorted?
I’m having problems with my wheelbase disconnecting for a split second every few mins. I’m also running a motion rig.
