ok so after talking to some friends about building a PC i finally decided to try it but i've heard the hardest part is getting all the right parts so thats why i need help. if i tell you what i got lined up already could you give me a rough idea to wheather i'm heading in the right direction or not. i also plan to try and by as much as i can off Ebuyer if possible

Pentium 4 2.667GHz Skt478 - FSB533 512kb Cache: £133.44
IBM / Hitachi 180GXP 120Gb 7200rpm ATA100 2mb Cache Hard Drive - OEM: £59.34
ICI 6310 Nokia Style Silver ATX Case with 300w PSU: £14.49
Crucial PC2700 512mb DDR 184pin DIMM: £54.99

these are all the parts i got lined up at the moment, do they sound right and do you think they will be compatible with each other? also does anyone have any suggestions on what motherboard and graphics card i should use?
thanks for your time

The most important parts I would imagine would be if the processor chip hooks up to the motherboard properly and to get the right type of memory. Other than that, just about all the rest of the parts are pretty much universal, aren't they? But I would recommend a higher power source unit, as well as getting an additional fan or two. Also, try to get a Pentium with Hyperthreading, it'll speed things up dramatically.

BMW POWER, you need to choose your processor/motherboard combo first, as this really defines the system.
