Getting ready to spend too much money on some wheels/tires and need an opinion on color options. My car is a 2009 VW GTi and is black in color. (more like a really dark metallic gray in sunlight) So just imagine the cars in the photos below are black. :P (And the Jetta isn't a Jetta )

They also have them in Red, but I don't feel like being flashy at the moment...

I'll be going with Neuspeed RSe05's (17x8 +45mm)

Black would be cheap looking, silver is a tad generic and white would only really suit a nice bright colour.

Gunmetal gets my vote.

Black would blend in with the car's paint a bit too much
White gives too much contrast
Silver would be good but it looks generic

Gunmetal would be your best bet.

Like everyone else, out of those four options I'd go with the Gunmetal.

Whichever you go for; there's always Plasti Dip.

Black, or gun-metal. I love black wheels but gun-metal is close enough. Depends on the colour of your car, gun-metal will look better on a black car but any other colour I would go with black.

Gunmetal is my vote but I'd still recommend a tune before dropping cash on wheels. The Hufs will get you by in the meantime. :D

Car is nearing 70k miles, what was left of the suspension life when I bought it at 47k miles has quickly disappeared with the country roads around here. So I'm putting some Mk6 driver gear springs with Mk6 Bilstein sport shocks and want to do wheels/tires at the same time. The Nitto's currently on the car have some life left but they are old and cracking from drying out. I don't trust them on the highway. The Hufs are curbed like crazy and to be honest I'm not a fan of the 18's.

Thanks guys for the suggestions on the wheel color. I think I have decided to try and find a cheaper wheel, but I will try to keep it Gunmetal in color. 👍

Edit: Plus the car isn't running right still. Just spent $500 to have the dealership replace the water pump and thermostat and I still have a misfire. Going to replace the plugs on Saturday.

A niche cheaper wheel while still being nice quality is VMR. 👍
Well the Neuspeeds are $270/ea, looking to cut that down to around $200. Everything in that price range I have found so far is not that great. I can get Enkei RPF1's in 17x7.5 for $220/ea, but that's not the fitment I would prefer.

I vote silver. Gunmetal looks amazing but I don't think it'll look very good on a black car because they'll just blend into the background. The silver looks nearly factory and as such looks quite expensive, and would contrast really nicely with the black paintwork.

I'm really not digging those rims :embarrassed: I'm guessing you are going to the track with it?
For $270 each they are pricey for me, and even though I can afford it right now I've decided to wait.

You're a rebel like me, do what others don't do. :P

Get them in whatever color, refinish in bronze/dark bronze.
I partially agree with you but maybe with a different wheel. These ones are already quite expensive for me and refinishing would just add to that.

I agree with Cano, With a bronze finish it'll look nice,

With a black car I think gunmetal or bronze is the way to go. Good luck with the puchase, be sure to update us.
