Just incase you havent checked out my profile I am an official USA HOCKEY ref for ice hockey and all I can say is the liner is very important. I know your making this for players but i used to ply too and I had a regular hard foam padded helmet and i hated it.Then when I started reffing I got a new helmet with such nice lining I love to wear it. Lineing or pading inside the helmet is very important in my opinion.

Hmm... interesting High, I'd like to hear more on why you like the lining? Being a hockey player my self I've recently got into ice but I used to play roller all the time. Is the lining for comfort or to keep warm on ice? Would a liner work for roller? I was thinking from my experience ventilation is important and a liner would defeat that purpose, especially in roller?

Thanks.

Here's one suggestion, how about doing what ski and tactical goggles are doing and implementing a small fan or two into the design. Not only would it increase comfort, but it would drastically reduce fogging.

I really like the center design you did. However, it doesn't really protect the lower face. How about adding some mesh below it, but, rather than the usual cage, make it finer mesh, maybe 1/4 inch?

Thanks Takumi Fujiwara, I'm currently trying to make a computer model of my current design. Just in case you didn't read my previous posts I have posted it below. I'm still figuring out what to do for the neck area protection because there are issues including ventilation, mobility of the neck, and mosture. At the same time I would like to protect the neck in some way as you pointed out. Thanks for the info.

I'm not sure what the form of the vents will be but yes I'm taking ventilation into consideration especially in the areas of having a shield or mask. Comfort like in the bottom drawing is being focused on right now. I'm having to contend with protection versus what makes a hockey helmet look like a hockey helmet. The biggest observation of this is how much of the helmet covers the head. Most of the helmet is above the bottom of the ear. The shape is another observation.

Got a quick question for you all... Is having the helmet secured better and more comfortable more important than if the helmet flexes? Thanks

Here is one early computer model of mostly form... I have to figure out all the rest of the stuff still.

I thinks its a little flashy in its design....I will take a picture of my helmet to show you how mine is lined as soon as i get home from school...

I like the one in your avatar, but I just keep thinking, what would happen if you got some ice sprayed up on the goggle portion? Would the goggles really be all that necessary, because the mist would block vision.

Thanks toyo, I'm really on the fence my self about a shield it has some major issues but I really feel some protection is better than none at all, if any of you saw the ysermen (sp?) injury you'd understand.

Well, it getting down to the last few details for my design. Thank you all for your help throughout my project, I thought using this site was a new and interesting way to help in the development of my product. Again thanks.

Are you going to put a face mask on it? or are you planning on making an accessories page with different masks, and chin straps etc,??

I still have to add the stuff you mentioned although I'm not sure about the cage part. What do you think of the form and look of the helmet?

That looks really cool!

Were you planning on putting a chin-strap on it? Because with the sides being so low, so to speak, I don't see those working very well.

Otherwise, awesome design.

I've got all the things you guys are talking about but I'll probably be reworking the design a little more at least around the ear and sideburns. I'll post some more pics including the back.
