Ideally, if you can, an AMD A4/6/8 range would be considered to be a better bet for all round web-browsing and spreadsheet work, as they have a integrated graphics unit that actually runs pretty well in comparison to the competition.

I am assuming that netbooks manufacturers will have some AMD A4 or AMD A6's in stock.

Intel processors are faster at the processing side of things, however the Intel HD3000 graphics chips that is integrated with them is often quite lacklustre for some reason.

However, I haven't kept up with the netbook side of the market, admittedly so all of the above may be incorrect.

They don't put the A4 into netbooks but they do put the AMD E series in netbooks. This netbook is a better value for the money compared to the Asus netbook. It has a faster CPU and better integrated graphics. Much better performance for normal use and office use. For the Intel side, the netbooks come with the Intel Atom CPU which is quite slower and has bad integrated graphics most of the time. So you don't look for an Intel CPU when you buy a netbook.

I would recommended going for an E-450 APU as they are faster and have a better graphics chip.

There's a new bunch of AMD processora heading out to laptop manufacturers at the moment. Can you wait a couple of months to see if they're worth the price or not?
