The leader was arrested and suffered a "minor gunshot wound", another was killed, they were arrested during a "traffic stop", my guess is they'd gone for supplies in the town. BBC.

They supposedly attended a meeting in a nearby town. Apparently, the authorities set a checkpoint to catch them and arrest them on the road, rather than at the protest site.

Saw a few rumors that the victim was shot a whole lot of times, but from Bundy, he was shot thrice, after he had already put up his hands to comply with the arresting officers... and the last shot was when he was on the ground.

Serious allegations... and if he was indeed shot on the ground, the forensics should back that up, easily enough.

One news outlet reported that he had resisted arrest, but the FBI and police did not confirm this, and are not releasing any info at this time. Supposedly there will be a press conference come morning.

Until then, all the rest of us can do is speculate on what the FBI might say.

Wouldn't be surprised if they were murdered. They don't exactly have the sympathy of the aloof majority-- eg, Yee-Hawd, etc. Everyone that publicly defends them will be labeled a kooky militia nut.

What people need to understand is that this is no different from the countless blacks victimized and mired in crime from the drug war. Mandatory minimums created this. If people can march for Treyvon and the fat kid from Ferguson, they need to understand that this is the same struggle.

I think when the smoke clears you'll find that the shooting of Finicum was justified under police protocol just like it was for Michael Brown. He was likely armed and probably made aggressive moves towards the police. I'd be surprised if it was anything else.

TL;DR: Driver in the vehicle behind LaVoy's said he was told by one of the passengers that LaVoy and a passenger got in argument about what to do. With one person already on the ground in handcuffs, LaVoy sped away, then when his vehicle got stuck, got out and ran towards the agents, who then shot him.

A passenger in the vehicle with LaVoy said that the police started shooting at them first, after which, LaVoy tried to drive them out of harm's way, and they were shot at multiple times. When the vehicle got stuck, LaVoy supposedly ran out and told the police to shoot him instead of the passengers.

These two accounts are both rather different from Bundy's original account of the shooting. And hugely different from each other! But both point to LaVoy not being armed or shooting back.

So far, we don't have the FBI's version of the story. It's supposedly under investigation. I hope it isn't a whitewash.

Not hard to imagine the agents were easily spooked, when they knew the militants were armed... but you'd think they'd have cameras on scene for their own protection.

This has always been the biggest danger of this protest, and the very public proclamations by the militants that they were armed and ready to protect themselves... it built the expectations that they would use arms to protect themselves from arrest, possibly making the agents trigger-happy.

But Finicum, with police in hot pursuit, attempted to leave the main road and drove into a snow bank. When he emerged from the vehicle, FBI and state police ordered him to surrender. That's when, authorities say, Finicum reached down toward his waistband where he had a gun. The SWAT team opened fire. Finicum was killed. Ryan Bundy suffered a light wound on his arm.

The shooting was captured on camera by the SWAT team. FBI and Oregon police officials are discussing possibly releasing the video, in part to counter claims by supporters that Finicum was gunned down while trying to surrender.

Thanks. Was looking in all the wrong places. Was watching the feeds from the local Oregon channels, which are a bit more sparse on info.

Seems like Bundy's bodyguard was the one who got the story right.
Well the video will tell the story as long as it's clear and focused. If the FBI is mentioning the video already I have to imagine it exonerates them but we'll have to wait and see.

Too bad there's no sound.

Seems like a suicide by cop situation. He reached down for that pocket multiple times before they shot him.

Perhaps that's what he wanted to happen.
If I remember correctly, he's the one who said they would never put him in a jail cell, so he was probably going out with a bang.

Cliven Bundy was arrested this morning on the way to the standoff site by the FBI. It was unclear what he was being charged with, but speculation has said that his charges were related to the 2014 Nevada standoff. His charges will be revealed later today.

Also the last of the protesters will turn themselves in today.

They are indeed charging him in relation to the 2014 standoff.

In other news, Finicum's family is debating the FBI's account, and wants to file a case.

Cliven was probably arrested for conspiracy in this Oregon case. I doubt it's anything from 2014.
