These shots give the best view yet of both, the coupe and roadster version of the next-generation Audi TT, showing how the company has grown and adapted its design to stay at the top of the style charts. The models revealed here will be joined by a three-door hatch variant, but it's the classic two-door body style that will make up most of the sales. Although the hatchback Shooting Brake concept - unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show back in October - was first to showcase the TT's new look, these pictures uncover the production version for the first time. It has been caught testing by our spies and, as you can see, the current model's instantly recognisable lines have been moulded into something much more modern.

Ready to go on sale late this year, the TT will have a new rival in the shape of BMW's Z4 coupe, but the next Audi will boast a more spacious cabin. While the outgoing model's back seats are uncomfortable for adults, rear passengers in the newcomer will benefit from extra space, and there will be more luggage room in the boot.

The extra millimetres have given the company's designers greater flexibility to pen a more attractive hood for the Roadster, which will join the line-up in 2007. What's still uncertain is where the three-door Shooting Brake version will fit into Audi's range. If it's priced as an entry-level variant, it will be too close to flagship A3 V6 models; but if it's placed at the top of the range, it could steal sales from the rumoured forthcoming executive A5 coupe.

Benefiting from Audi's latest engine technology, the new TT will be offered with the 2.0-litre powerplant from parent company Volkswagen's Golf in both naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms. A 250bhp 3.2-litre six-cylinder unit will head up the range at launch, and all motors will benefit from VW's latest Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI) technology to boost efficiency.

The firm's latest turbocharged and supercharged engine will be available too, while plans to develop a diesel TT are thought to be underway. All but the entry-level variants will come with quattro all-wheel drive, but buyers can expect a more involving driving experience across the range.

Enthusiasts also have the prospect of a genuine supercar-baiting TT flagship to look forward to. Likely to be badged the RS, this range-topper will be powered by a 2.0-litre bi-turbo unit, and will take on BMW's hot Z4 M. Expect to see the new coupe in the metal for the first time at the Paris Motor Show in September this year, with the first lucky buyers taking delivery before the end of 2006.

As with all spy pics the cars lookin ugly. The article also has a few factual mistakes and also state some things as fact when theyre just purely rumours. For the TT to take on the Z4 M it will most likely not have a 2.0T:ouch: And FSI came from audi and not VW.:dunce:

They ruined it...dear lord after I just propped them up in another thread. Oh well every car maker has at least one bad apple. = /

I didn't see this, now this looks ok. Those spyphotos makes the front nose look like ****. Black will not be a good color for this car I can see.

Thats right purdy right there...

I like the "mini-R8" look that the new TT will have...

Ooooh. The red one with the RS rims looks sexy!!! I'd sign up for one provided mine looked EXACTLY like that. And ABT Sportline would get a call promptly after it was delivered! Otherwise, the TT is one car that never really made it design-wise.

... You dont think the TT-design was successful? Id say it was one of the best cars available for quite some time, both on the inside and out. It had a good balance of looks that were both radical and yet restrained on the outside, and the interior looked great in all black with the bits of aluminum trim throughout the interior.

I liked the look of the old TT, and I doubt the new one can quite live up to it.

I'm confused, though...which of those photos are more credible? The ones at the top seem like the real deal (more than one photo, not a drawing, etc.) but there's one thing wrong...the grille isn't the Audi/VW goatee.

If the TT ends up being the version depicted in those first, snowy photos, I'm not impressed. The tail-end looks nice, and I can see how the front end could be made to look nice, but as it is, it just doesn't work. Is it just me, or is there too much front/rear overhang?? :odd:

The old TT was... well, cute. This spy model is told to be inspired by the VW Golf. It's actually styled pretty clean, though the look of the older model will be sadly missed by TT fans. I have to say that I like this new design, but out of 100% approval, I'd give it between 70 and 75. It's still a nice car, just with bolder, more aggressive styling. As with most cars I've commented on, the arrangements either in the rear or in front can be their downfall. Sad to say, the headlight and grill combination look somewhat off. I'd want to accentuate the headlights with the grill and not cause an imbalance. So if you have a medium-size grill, then you may want some taller headlights. Unless of course, you want to design the grill and lights like the Dodge Ram (not hating on it). If you have a tall grill, you may want the headlights to look on the same level of the grill without making the front look too much like a truck (like most of today's Cadillacs).

Overall, many people don't like the new design, but I think it's hate-it-or-love-it. Hit and miss. The style is clean, though it can use a little more work. Or of course, we can always set up side-by-side pictures of the old car vs. this new design.

To help visualise what the next TT will look like mix together the shooting brake concept with the old TT and the R8.

This new TT will have a pop up spoiler like porsches do.

...I like the new Audi grille, and I am surprised by how many people think the opposite way.

Cant wait to see how well the VR6-powered TT will perform...

I have some breaking news on the audi' TT's dynamics. It will use a haldex setup and have near 50/50 weight distribution which means the car should handle like a rwd one but with the safety of a 4wd one.

Engine rumours...

The new Audi TT Mk2 will have by introduction a 2.0T FSI engine with 220 hp and a 3.2 VR6 engine with 250 hp.
Later there will be following a 2.0T FSI with 170 hp.

But the engine rumour is that there will be a "TTS" with a high performance version of the Q7 3.6 FSI engine producing ± 330 hp.
German "Auto Motor und Sport" have also mentioned that the TT will get a 3.6 V6 with 330 hp.
