New BMW Seasonal

You know pd, probably they made it worse and will reset again, sometime soon....
That's what I'm expecting

I'm not gonna play it again until it's 2 days before the deadline. I'm pretty disappointed with their method of dealing with cheaters:crazy:

These events that are worth prizes should have an aditional rule that being anywhere else other than the black stuff is not allowed. Its a driver challenge, not how much can you exploit the game...

They run on grass surface with 2 wheels in order to lower the traction, which helps them to maximize the top speed of the car before entering the first corner

In most real life race series this is still considered on track. Only difference is the grass will actually stick to your tyres and ruin your braking for turn 1

I wonder if some people complained or PD just found out in their routine maintenance.

Now the TT rules on track boundaries are getting stricter, 2 wheels ouside the white line - almost instant DNF :) Nice, PD should use this on all TT.

Maybe I should clarify that I was making fun of Polyphony Digital for their frustrating decision to limit participation in a Seasonal Event based on location. Many players have been waiting an awful long time for some new(-ish) content, but now that it's here nobody in not-Asia (and the Philippines) is allowed to participate!

So you're mad that a event/competition organized by BMW Japan (In Asia), who's offering a prize pertaining to a series that's popular In Asia, won't allow participants that aren't from territories In Asia?

Now I'll admit the decision not to include the Philippines is an odd one, but you're really mad about this even though this was announced days ago? Also, none of this content is new. Its the same track and car that's already available in the game so this isn't at all "New" content.

What part of the track are they doing it at? Are you talking about people are putting two wheels on the grass on the main straight? Sorry, this would've been much easier for me to figure out on my own if I was allowed to do this competition.

I'm mad because the rest of the planet hasn't seen any new Seasonal action in a few weeks now. If BMW of Japan only wants Asian gamers to be eligible for the prize, I can understand. The idea that the rest of the planet isn't getting a new seasonal because PD were too busy patching this thing together for a limited few is crap that I can't understand.

What is more, even though I'm fairly confident all of our garages are over-filled with the M4s that have been flowing out of PD lately, it bothers me that GT is going to reward certain players with custom vehicles, unobtainable to the rest of us, purely based on their country-of-origin/GT 6 version.

I'm not mad that BMW of Japan has a special (non-GT) prize for Asian competitors. I'm mad that PD basically told the rest of us to screw off in order to do it. If BMW of Japan wants to reward Asian gamers with the chance for some cool stuff, that's their business. But I'm pretty sure that I spent the same money on GT that Asian players did, but they're now getting slightly more game for their money. And that should make anybody mad.

So I'm guessing the Time Trials with the LCC Rocket, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo and HE G37 don't count as "New seasonals" to you?

Dude, all that "Custom vehicle" that you claim is unobtainable is literally just an M4 with an "Exclusive" paint chip. Is that seriously worth getting worked over? As someone who isn't eligible for that event, I hardly find it a big deal.

And yet you weren't mad when PD limited the Red Bull 5G event (another Japanese exclusive event) to specific region participants?

They aren't telling you to "Screw off", that's just an event for players of that region to win something for that region. Last I checked, Super GT isn't all that popular outside Asia so its not at all a surprise to see what participants are allowed and quite likely at the request of BMW Japan.

Has anyone posted pics of the special colored BMW M4?

From a recently closed thread:

As I said, hardly worth getting mad over.

My previous gold cup disappeared, so I tried again last night. It turned out with a successful (gold) log of my time, but I still didn't get the prize car.:grumpy:

And the car drove differently last night compared to the first day. It seemed more nimble but somewhat too tail happy. Anyway I feel the grip is still not up to the RS level.

There we go, the amazing real driving simulator, new physics are top notch.

The possible spots are usually the fast exit corner like Turn 3 Left hander, Turn 4 to 5 inside and exit of Turn 7, Turn 13. Even you hit the kerb didn't recover after the kerb, it will be invalidated. I recorded a 1.35.747 before they reset the timings last night, then last night I managed to get 1.36.030.

RS tires ( unrealistic grip level ) + top notch driver who will do anything to win the prize = exploits and cheating. At least PD also disabled SRF  and now getting 2 wheels beyond the white line / touching the grass is like instant DNF on most corners. PD must have done ninja update or something similar. I hope PD will continue with the extra strict track boundaries on future TTs.

Yeah they do need to work on that. The first M4 Seasonal around the Nurburgring GP Circuit was a lesson in how to exploit the track boundaries in itself in the corners where there was plenty of concrete run-off. Mind you, having one side of the car on the grass isn't a new exploit. Some top guys were doing this in the GT Academy inspired challenge back in 2012 with the purple GT-R albeit gaining a smaller advantage based on how you guys have been describing the Z4 seasonal.

I think it all comes down to is P.D. improving the grip levels when you drop a wheel off the black stuff and writing code that will invalidate your lap if more than 3 wheels go outside the white line track boundary.

Or it may also bounce when your tyres are outside of the kerb specially on those hairpins, the rear tyres will clip and spin.

Why don't they just implement like "Point System"? Example the track has a perfect 10,000 points (depending on length of the track), if your tires touches the grass (maximum 2 tires) the system will deduct points until you get back on track like 10points/ft also you can go negative if have too many mistakes. The leaderboard will look like this if you have the same time with others.

GTP_A 1:35:790 10000pts (perfect run)
GTP_B 1:35:790 9680pts
GTP_C 1:35:790 9670pts
GTP_D 1:35:790 8990pts
GTP_E 1:35:791 10000pts (perfect run)
etc...

Because that sounds a whole lot more difficult to implement than correctly functioning track boundaries and looks more like something reserved for drifting.

True racers will always go for the quickest time over style points unless told otherwise so this system will prove redundant in any time trial.

How it is difficult? Its simple...Outside the track=Deduct points, Inside the track=No points deducted. I'm not a programmer but its just like an old school game, you go off track/off screen you're dead. But you got a point maybe this is better in drifting than TT.

How are people cheating?
I believe they're adding in a leaderboard mod to single out who are really from the Asia Pacific specified in the rules. Given that some gamers have multiple accounts there's a chance players who are not from the specified region may try to gatecrash into the event.

I set my time there! Now to wait for the special BMW M4 in GT colors. Is it a 15th Anniversary Edition? Only time will tell...

I also get a chance to go to Japan for the real life race in Fuji Speedway and/or Turkey for the BMW Experience!
