New DualShock 3 pad, controls are wonky.

Hey guys, so I just picked up a new gamepad, and I believe it's the DualShock 3. On the front of the gamepad it says DualShock 3 and Sixaxis. When I try playing however, the triggers do not work (I have them set to gas) and I'm using manual transmission, and when I try to switch gears, it goes from 1 to 6 (cycling through them, doesnt just skip) and 6 to 1. The pad works fine in other games, including the triggers. Does anyone have any idea whats going on?

Hmm, problem fixed. I reset the controls for Controller 1 to default, tried racing, triggers worked fine for shifting, so I went back the controls screen, remapped the controls to my liking, and voila! Tragedy averted.
