Sounds like the Clubsport Shifter has taken a backseat to all this CSR stuff. I like my GT2 and Clubsport pedals just fine, now I want a CLUBSPORT SHIFTER!!! Where is it Thomas?

Im guessing it will be early spring.

Im thinking about the CSR wheel and CSR Elite pedals, i havent read much about the wheel, how does it compare to the GT2 and Clubsport Pedals?

CSR + CSR elite pedals = £350
GT2 + Clubsport pedals = £393

Or

CSR + Clubsport pedals
GT2 + CSR Elite pedals

CSR is pretty much the GT2 with a different rim. Like the Porsche Rim or the CSR rim is your real choice.

I read on this forum, CSR Elite pedals are pretty much all you need if you play on consoles mostly. I tend to agree.

Having a GT3RS clubsport package and having wrecked the microsoft wheel I ordered the CSR wheel and a shifter set in a weak moment for use with forza 4.
Tend to use the CSR with the G25 pedals , but if if the CSR will work without probs on the PS3 also the GT3 wheel will be replaced by the CSR.
Still dubbing about buying an extra wheelstand though...

The wheel stand is good, even better if you modify it a little and add 2x Mini Buttkickers / Aura Pro for Left/Right tactile effects and a 3rd one under the wheel shelf for LFE effects. Brings a whole new experience :)

Just parted with £450 on Fanatec CSR Wheel, CSR Elite Pedals, and CSR shifter :scared:

Hope it's worth it, as i'm upgrading from my first wheel which was a DFGT

I notice alot of CSR Elite Pedal purchases going on. As an owner of the Clubsport pedals I would really suggest you guys upgrade. Not that I think the CSR Elite is garbage or anything. But here's what I do know....

CSR pedals (UPDATE on 2. July 2011: these are CSR Elite pedals) are similar to Clubsport pedals, but have some heavy duty plastic components instead of being fully made out of metal. Brake pedal uses an adjustable load cell just like on Clubsports, but they went for regular potentiometers for the clutch and gas pedals. These two pedals use a very interesting mechanism, where a plastic "toothed tongue" is being pushed as you press the pedal, rotating the potentiometer inside the small plastic case. In the video we can see that pedals use metal springs and can be adjusted for stiffness by turning two metal nuts.

I ordered the CSR Elite. I will change my order once someone wires me 50 more bucks :)

To be honest, I like the look of the CSR Elite pedals, the option of reverse mounting, or hard mounting each pedal, and until some of us have them its far to early to make a judgment call, imo. They could be great, or horrid. Potentiometer's have worked well in lots of other great pedals.

I am still unsure if the CSP's support the abs vibration on consoles...can you confirm they do/do not?

Mine do

Actually ABS vibration has worked on PS and Xbox for ages.

Fanatec's site claimed that spring and damper function doesn't work on Xbox either.

They do too.

Fanatec underselling themselves. Maybe they have updated the site now.

WTH? Why was I under the impression they didnt yet?

I just found this out, last week when I was trying to "loosen" the wheel up for F1 2011. Thomas actually suggested to another GT2 user to mess with the damper settings, even though in the instruction booklet it clearly states those setting only affect PS3.

Thanks for the confirmation guys. I am torn now...damnit. Why did you have to post that t.o. :yuck:. Next time lie and say if you use the vibrating ABS or the CSP's your dog dies and your wife leaves you....

Let me clarify though ...

"The wheel handles the brake vibration by setting the ABS function (0-100%) in the tuning menu as the wheel and pedals need a wired connection, Forza has no impact on this feature at all. The only way to have a game handle the brake vibration is currently on PC via seperate wheel/pedal USB connections and the game needs to output the telemetry to the brake (usually by installing a plug-in).

The brake pedal does not receive any information from Forza about your wheels locking, you simply set the wheel to the desired brake percentage for activating the vibration motor and is used as a haptic signal for when you have reached (or nearly reached) the limit of braking before lock up occurs."

So although the vibration works it's not what you think. But with a little tweaking of settings you can get it to do what you want.

Ok, so its not an offical supported feature by console games (i.e. Forza), as it is with certain plugins with PC sims? I think I get it.

But you can get it pretty close. Well if the CSR elites dont work out, I can always sell them and save up for some CSP's. I still want to try them out.

Just to add.

How I set up my ABS was simple.

The load cell has a variable dial on it.
Basically you set the vibration to occur dependent on your preferred foot pressure.

Turn on telemetry in Forza.
Drive down a nice long straight and apply the brakes until they start to lock up. Easy with telemetry.

Alter your onboard wheel settings. Increments of 5. 100 being full foot presure to activate.

I can tell you now that Forza is around 85.

I now know that 85% of pressure will vibrate my pedal and wheel rim indicating I'm about to lock wheels.

Going to your load cell dial you can adjust the amount if pressure needed to get to 85%. More if you where footwear less if in socks etc.

It feels like cheating because after a lap(a bit more when you first start) muscle memory kicks in and you can bring your brakes to the threshold at the last minute.

It's that good.

Hope I explained ok.

Edit. I'm sure the elite pedals have a load cell don't they?

They just don't have hall effect sensors in throttle clutch. Just potentiometers. No biggie that.
I may be wrong.

The ABS function works great on my CSP. You just need to tweak some settings to your liking. Thought I read a topic somewhere about which settings needs to adjust for a reallife ABS feel

Grtz

Just parted with £450 on Fanatec CSR Wheel, CSR Elite Pedals, and CSR shifter

Me too!
Does anyone know how long it takes for delivery, after Fanatec accept order (uk)?

I got my confimation of order on friday, so I'm hoping it takes no more than 1 week! :nervous:

hi all i need a wheel for F4. i have thrustmaster 500 for gt5. so i guess my real question is the csr the same as the porsch gt2 or is it better. im using the WSP so i cant mount a shifter.and hoping csr puts the feeling there i really dont want to spend another 700$ on a wheel.so i would like to know how it feels when driving also if the shifter peice that connects is firm or flimsy ty. ps dont mind the spelling
