New G25 owner...AWESOME!

Just thought i'de share. I had my Driving Force Pro since GT4 release, and a few months of ownership i ran into the "peddle problem". So i let it sit for a while and gave up. Tried a few fixes that were temporary. Then about 4 months ago i got really into trying to fix them. I soldered the connectors to the motors/sensors for the peddles, drilled holes in the casing and used zip-ties to keep the motors stationary. Worked GREAT for while since getting my ps3 and GT5P. But 2 weeks ago the GAS pedal started acting up, gave it another attempt to fix which was no good.

So i finally shelled out the money for the Logitech G25 and right out of the box i can see why it's a lot more expensive. Definately a Great engineered product. You can smell the leather from the wrapped wheel and the shifter boot. The Pedals are my favorite part. They feel a LOT more solid, the brake pedal has a lot more pressure/resistance which takes a bit to get used to but it's GREAT. Only gripe i have is that you pretty much have to be FULLY off the Gas pedal when using the clutch in the game. If you are not carefull it can be easy to miss-shift. The only other thing i would prefer/change would be to add a little weight to the shifter itself, to give more a real feel. Besides that it's the most fun i've had playing ANY driving game. The feel of racing on the road, kicking the clutch and throwing the shifter, definately takes the gaming/racing experience to another level.

My DFP was good while it worked, but the difference in feel/quality is definately above it with the G25. The wheel itself is more smoothe and A LOT quieter. I was whipping the wheel around drifting and you dont hear much, where as wiht the DFP you could hear it oustide my room even with the door closed. All in all it was worth every penny as long as it holds up to the abuse/and usage i'm going to give it. :)👍

yea it is a sweet wheel but don't abuse it too much!!
especially the shifter! dont be too rough with it or you will end up breaking it!

Hey man, welcome to the club! The shifter is a lot more durable than you might think by feel alone. I've had mine apart before doin' a couple of mods and you're not likely to break or damage your shifter with a hard shift here and there, despite how flimsy it feels. The issue you're having with the clutch is kinda lame, but all it takes is practice and you'll get past it. PD changed some code in the game to make the player be more precise with the clutch because (I assume,) too many people weren't lifting off of the accelerator to shift and it gave players with a G25 an unfair advantage.

As Teh_Loserer has rightly said this caused by GT5p and not the wheel itself.

Yes before i got the wheel i heard that was one of the things in the update they changed. which i dont mind or blame them, no need to power-shift in racing...maybe in a balls-out drag race, but i'm not one for drag racing, i like turns, and love drifting.

This weekends project is to modify my cheap little stand i made for my DFP, want to make another bracket for the shifter to bring it a little closer, as it's level with the wheel rite now, want to bring it down a bit and closer to me. Also need something to hold the pedals in place a little better with the clutch use and stiffer brake pedal.

I was doing the Race in the Dealership/Nissan section with all GTR's and i INSISTED on using the clutch, even though it doesn't actually work. I just feel that car SHOULD (and i believe it's coming out) with a clutch and a shifter. I understand the DSG/paddle shifters are actually faster than a human being with a clutch and shifter, but it's just not the same feel/experience. :)👍

I wouldn't hold my breath on that

Depending on the car, phyically pressing the paddles is obviously faster but GT itself simulates gear changes by 'autoclutching' in manual cars which takes longer than we can do quickshifts.

Oh and as for drifting, sad part is not only has PD stopped powershifting (which is a technique in drifting) but you also cant shift at all when the car is in the middle of heavy wheelspin when using the clutch, you must let the wheelspin reduce first before attempting the shift or you will be forced into neutral. :indiff:

Disapointing if Nissan Doesn't release a manual gear box GTR, which is why I still favor/love the R34 GTR as my favorite car to date because of the potential. RB26dett for me. I saw a GTR in person for the first time the other day, very impressive and i'm sure it's fun to drive, but without the clutch and shifter, i feel it lacks the true sports car feel, just like the Ferrari Enzo, amazing car, but paddle shifters. :dunce:

As far as the not being able to shift with a lot of wheel spin, i noticed that last nite i was doing drift trial in the Blitz skyline, usually start off in 2nd and when trying to shift into 3rd too early with lots of wheel spin, it went to neutral, figured it was me but makes a lot of sense now. So you can't power-shift, but you can still clutch kick (kicking the clutch while in same gear). Gt5p may not be perfect but definately lots of fun and LOADS of improvement over GT4, i was very dissapointed in GT4's physics when drifting. I can't wait for more cars/tracks to be released. Watching the more recent D1 video's the Gran Turismo banner under the D1GP banner gives me hope when they make updates/release the game there will be a good amount of drift related content. Since i can't drift my real car as often as i'de like, GT5 is my substitue. :)👍
