"Dee dee dee" on behalf of all the SUV haters, the new GMT900 SUVs are a big hit for GM.

Leftlanenews.com
Sales of Chevrolet's new Tahoe SUV are so strong that General Motors is now trying to accelerate the launch of several other SUVs and ship them to dealerships two to four weeks ahead of schedule, the Detroit News reported today. Other trucks built on the Tahoe platform include the 2007 Cadillac Escalade (plus EXT, ESV), GMC Yukon, and Chevy Suburban.

I've seen plenty of the new Escalades and Yukons rolling around here in Michigan, but were obviously not the entire market for the SUVs.

So we must be getting the Escalade variants a bit sooner than expected, as well as the new Suburban and Avalanche. Sweet. Now if we can fast-forward a few months and get the new Silverados and Sierras on the road, GM can start stealing more sales away from Ford and Dodge in the pickup truck market.

I should say so!
They've been popping up all over the place around here.

Haven't seen any with aftermarket rims yet, but black is a sexy color for it.

I don't know how pooular aftermarket wheels will be on the truck, as GM offers 20" on the LTZ, and reportedly is working on selling up to 26" wheels from the accessories catalogue.

I saw a new Escalade a few days back, and it looked very nice. The design, which looked kinda akward on paper turned out well in person.

It isnt a "sharp" in terms of edges as it's predecessor, but seeing it in person does it better justice than just seeing the pictures. I followed a pearl white Escalade down my street for a few miles a few weeks ago, and I thought it looked pretty good.

BTW: Its a lot quicker than it seems. The new 6.2L 400HP V8 works pretty well with the new 6L80E 6-speed auto. My Jetta couldnt keep up with it at first, but when the road was a bit more curvy, I caught up in a hurry.

That's funny, because I work at a GMC dealership, and we haven't sold one of the yukon's yet.:ouch: The only thing that sold right away because it was special ordered was a new Escalade with 22's.

I havent seen as many Yukons on the road as Tahoes, but Escalade sales are picking up rather quickly.

I'm fairly surprised... I test drove an '07 Tahoe in late January and was bitterly dissapointed. It was probably one of the worst-driving vehicles I've ever been in, and this comes from someone who's family has been obsessed with Chevrolet's large SUVs for nearly 10 years now.

Yeah, they're "ok". I do like the buttons on the dash though, much better quality, and they don't feel cheap.👍

Ive just read in Car & Driver that the new Tahoe has such a good build quality that they were really impressed by all the stuff. Yeah, Im impressed too. I like the new style and the interior. Now my brother wont mock me saying the Tahoe has a cheap, second-rate interior! But man...this shows that GM can turn out a nice product when pushed...pity they didnt do this a decade earlier or GM wouldnt be in such trouble now...

I've had some seat time in the '07 Tahoe, and it is definatley an improvement over its GMT800 predecessor. Although mechanically speaking not much has changed, the combination of the new frame and suspension add to a better ride overall, and combined witht he greatly refined interior, its a darn good truck.

...That said, more could have been done. The dashboard has a hollow sound to it if you knock on the pannels, and the wood trim in the LTZ looks like it was pulled off of the trees in the Wizard of Oz. Its not bad, but it isnt close to the standards set by Volkswagen's Touraeg, nor does it look as refined overall as the interiors found in the current Navigator, etc.

Well, the Tahoe isn't exactly in direct competition with the Touraeg and Navigator, either. That's what the Escalade is for.

Yeah, they said the same thing in Car & Driver that the panels sound hollow. But...still....I didnt think in a million years GM would turn out such a nice product.

Well, the LTZ Tahoe kinda overlaps a bit. I'd say the LTZ could compete with the Touraeg V6 and V8 here in the US to some extent, but I would concede that the Escalade (or Yukon Denali) is better suited to the Navigator.
