we nearly broke the record of 36 ppl on at once 5 away from matching it tonight and 6 away from beating it .. i think we should arrange a time everyone should coe on to beat it!!
 
Yes, I agree. Surely with more than 1800 registered members we can have more than 36 of them online at once! How about a party? :D

I'm starting the GTPlanet Newsletter tomorrow (Tuesday), so I'll make a comment it. How does August 29 (Wednesday) sound for everyone?

Yes, the time zones could be a problem with many of our European visitors. :( I think the early afternoon (around 4:00 PM EST) would be the best time. This is when the site gets most of its traffic, as I'm sure many of you are accessing the forums at work. And, I believe it would be about 9:00 PM for those in the UK, so we all might be able to make it. :)

I don't know, but I am sure that several hundred people could be online at once (it really depends on the server load). I'm not worried about vBulletin, it can take quite a beating! (The largest vBulletin board holds the record at 768 concurrent users.) :eek:
 
Man, usually every time I go to sportbikes.net there is at least 70-100 members on. It's a pretty popular place I guess...


I also noticed ls1.com has over 20,000 registered members :eek:

20,000? That's nothing! :) The forum I was referring to (http://board.flashkit.com) has more than 220,000.
 
I think we should revive this some time. What's the current maximum, Jordan? Surely it's been over 40. And does that count guests? The most I've ever seen was something like 26 ... I was pretty impressed with that.

There's a channel (room) on the Undernet IRC network that AVERAGES over 750 people. That's in ONE ROOM. Crazy stuff. I'd bet they've peaked over 1,000, just shooting for numbers one night.

We could say ... the first tuesday of every month is "Party at GTPlanet" day. That might jack the numbers up a little (: There has to be incentive other than just "hey, bunches of people will be there", though.

then , i also suggest towards your party night thing that people are expected to post no less than a set amount of posts ;) to stop these billy no mates just sitting in the sidelines :D :cool: say 50 posts each :eek: :cool:
 
Well, once again, I don't think that post counts are really the important thing. It's the quality of posts. If we get a bunch of people (say ... 50) all posting together at the same time, surely there will be something we can talk a LOT about. I think it could be pretty cool. (:

What we really need, though, is more talk about GT3 and other racing games. It seems lately that there has been a lot of talk about various other topics. Not that that is a bad thing, just that GT3 has started to dwindle off, and GTN is a ways in the future. That's just my observation ...

i only suggested the 50 posts to stop people sitting reading and nothing else, i am not interested in adding posts to my tally , just trying to bring non posters out of their hiding place ;) make it 10 posts ! now thats more reasonable and should keep most of us busy :cool:
and as for gt3 still for me the best game ever ! and i will keep on posting in the challenges section as long as i'm here :D :cool:
 
Maybe a thread for checking in, like a guestbook for the party or something (: "Thread about nothi... the party!!" It could be a poll too.

11 - 20
21 - 30
31 - 40
41 - 50
51 - 60
61 +

Then it could just be a chat thread to spurr people to create their own threads.

It could all be kicked off with the new website on the new server. New New New!
