my updated tune settings on this fantastic Ride:
(Offline practice, no Aids please, wheel G25, Manual Paddle, real Grip settings)
(Didn't test online yet, but surely will require a radical different tune)
R35 TC - tuned for Nordschleife now 5:52:75x with no ABS
& after 1 yr of playing this game, I finally found out some practical magic to LSD settings on this track.
(Off the top of my head;
700pp, 897HP, stock weight, no ballast.
Engine to 3.
Aero fr and back, 2 notches from maxed
Ride Height F: +6 , R: +5
Springs, F: 13.4 , R: 12.2
Damp Ext F: 5 , R : 3(don't recall if 3, or 4)
Damp Com F: 2, R : 3(don't recall if 3, or 4)
ARB F: 4 , R: 2
Toe F: -(Neg).10 , R: +(Pos).30
Cam F: 0.7 , R: 1.0
LSD F: 7/42/11 , R:8/46/8 (still experimenting, but 1 thing I discovered for damn sure, is high Accel values are your friend, more explained below)
Torque Split: F:20/R:80
Brake Balance, F: 2 , R: 3
Racing Softs.
Top Speed on Straight: 335 km/hr (with feathered throttle to prevent engine cutoff)
Consistent Laptimes with all Aids off: 5:55s or better. (striving to acheive 5:49:xx, will require a lucky error free lap, but % of doing so is very good in this car, depends on my stomach)
Transmission: Tweaking here and there, but aim for FD 3.600-3.620 (whilst the adjustable top speed is set to lowest @ 200km/hr), to get your new top speed of 340km/hr, and maintain Tasmanian Accelleration.
Now: Why did I decide to try high Accel LSD settings? well, for the longest time, I see tuners using settings of 10, 15, 25 etc, so I naturally played with this range (for far too long)
During this time, my GT5 Peeve was: mundane understeer, or shooting wide out of Apex on Downshift. (when engine revs higher)
When engine revs higher from your downshift, even though you are physically slowing down, and constantly bumping about from this narrow track and rumble strips, your wheels are not slowing down, engin power can be transmitted to the free spinning wheel and cause undesired effects, they try to spin under monstrous HP. Raising the Accel LSD will allow you to make those turn ins on downshift, with ease. No Understeer for raising this , "as indicated in the manual".
When I raised my accel settings from 25 range up to 40 and over, I shaved 3s off the lap instantly.
now, on to Brake LSD settings, I prefer them low, because the car orients itself better at crucial braking points, than it would with locked/ limited rotations. Not sure if I'm explaining this right, but I tried higher settings, and I believe higher settings are fantastic for long tracks like Sarthe, to slow down that Enzo as if pulling it from behind, but this isn't needed on the Ring.
Thank (edit:goodness.)
Fun point: when doing those 1st sets of triple chicanes early on in the track, (section before approaching the first downhill bridge), at approx 20-25s mark, you can literally throw the steering wheel into spin, in the direction you are turning, like those classic pole position arcade games, without a hitch.
