Doesn’t HDR increase the response time?

I've got two HDR settings to play with. One on tv settings and gt sport has a hdr setting . If my TV hdr is turned on there is noticeable input lag so leave it in game mode. Question is if hdr is off on my tv but turned on in gt sport . Is it going to do anything ?

It will result in a washed out looking image. Really awful.

Yeah it winds up looking like dookie, with or without HDR after the conversion. It's awful.

I agree, mostly the dawn/dusk shots are the worst. I posted in photography section when I originally noticed it and got no responses really. No one really cares I guess.

That salesmen is FULL of **** . You can't even buy a 50hz maximum TV today . But some tvs CAN do 50hz if you have a pc .no reason to do it. As people have said already, ps4 and xbox one are both 60hz . But if you buy a pc, or wait for next generation, 120, or 144 Hz games might be a reality .microsoft has spoken about the imortense for a strong cpu for high fps gaming for their next xbox . Will you keep your TV for a few years, maby look into a higher Hz TV.

To be fair to the store, dont rely on them for any advice. The only thing these stores are useful for it holding stock at the lowest possible price and attending to warranty concerns.

I do appreciate refresh rate but no console seems to care about anything but 60hz.

In light of this, the only thing you need to get is a 4k60 HDR set in the size you want.

HDR actually IS important and it does make the game look better.
I bet that the next xbox will support higher refreshrates . Games like cod, owerwatch and maby a few competitive racing games will probably have a "high fps mode" . I could be wrong ofcourse .

A lot of TV’s that can do 120 Hz can’t actually accept a signal of higher than 60 Hz. It’s mostly for frame interpolation and running 24 FPS movies. It won’t be until hdmi 2.1 becomes available that we will see many TV’s doing native 120 Hz.

Ohhh .forgot what i said then . Some TV used to advertise 600hz which were obviously not a support for 600hz .thought tvs had at least came to 100hz nowadays .

Well I finally got my new TV (Samsung NU8000). DHL lost the first one that I ordered! Was a drama. Ended up getting a 55". Its epic. I have to say though that although its great and I'm enjoying the improved screen, bigger size and thinner bezel, I struggle to see much difference in GT Sport aesthetics. Its such a good looking game anyway and looked great even on my 10yo HD Samsung.

Is there something in particular I should be looking at to ensure that I've got it all configured correctly?

Is HDR working? Make sure that the input your PS4 is hooked up to has HDR enabled, it is something that you usually have to manually turn on for each input on the tv. Also make sure the PS4 is set to automatic for HDR.

Yep got all that set up.

UHD activated for the HDMI input I'm using.
Game Mode is on too.
PS4 video output settings set to automatic

I flicked game mode off once to see the difference and the screen seemed to get a kind of orange tint all over. Not sure if normal. Didn't look as nice as with game mode on, so I reactivated game mode.

Will play around this weekend when I have some more time.

You have different settings for each picture mode! So game mode will look a lil different especially if u haven’t adjusted it’s settings. I mirrored for the most part, my settings for cinema Pro. They both look great, but game mode does have a brighter look than cinema mode.
