What are you talking about hotrods?? There arent any cars in the NTSC version that arent in the PAL (...right???) Its just the other way around (Audi Nuvolari etc.)

What do you mean?, you dont have a SCART input on your TV??
I do, but proper RGB requires proper RGB input terminals on TV, an RGBtoScart is not the best solution. (to my knowledge)

Yeah, but almost all TVs have proper Scart sockets. And from what I know, RGB cable gives you the sharpest pic quality, did you try it?

ZK, tried to PM you but your personal storage is full. Can you possibly clear. Would like to discuss offline. thx

There is every chance of getting some vegemite and a few VBs if you really want them.:D Just steal any Aussie's overnight bag (sportsman/tourist/grandma - any Aussie) and it will contain both. Good work on knowing we don't drink Fosters!

Its a cold day so I'm off to the Belgian beer garden thats just a block up the road from me now, I've finally worked out whats good! Tripel Karmeliet (spelling?!) is my favorite beer (kwak is my second fav), until I have something better of course. Its like drinking a steak with the viscousity of honey... Mmmmmm.

Anyway....

I would really like to know how you go with the Yella-bird, its a real love it or hate it car...
:)

Hehe, just wait till you've tried a "Duvel" then. Try drinking 3 in an hour of them on a warm evening, see how you "walk" away then!

i h8 being ignored
Tracktorgtr - So do I. :)

I’m not ignoring you but I needed to verify some info before replying.
On http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/gran_turismo_4_race_list.txt chapter 9.3 and 9.4.

There is mention of 9.3 Hot Rod Competition and 9.4 Muscle Car Competition.
On page 1 is stated: (for use with the NTSC U/C (US/Canada) version of Gran Turismo 4)

I took this gamefaq list and compared it with the races on my game DVD.

9.4 matches my DVD but there’s no mention of 9.3 HotRods in my game.

Perhaps the writer of that information took some liberties of his own. I can’t verify his claims. I can only report what I see.
I haven’t actually played the in the US arena yet so I can’t comment on what actually happens there.

To my very, very limited knowledge on the subject of Hotrods (and I apologise if I’m stepping on toes here) a hotrod is usually a custom built car with disproportionate wheels, lots of chrome, outstanding paintwork, oversized engine, proabably near "useless" for day to day driving but a hell of a lot of pleasure and fun for the owner and onlooker etc. etc.

Please take this as a very rudimentary statement and please lets not go in to the discussion of what constitutes a hotrod and what doesn’t, I don’t know, and to be frank I don't care.

Wrt are there different cars in NTSC and PAL, no idea, and I really don’t care as I’m not about to try all 700 or so out. My garage holds at the moment well over a hundred and that at this point in time is more than enough for me.
Trust this resolves the issue.

@ Tracktorgtr: I didn't understand (in fact I still don't) what you were asking. Perhaps if you had worded your query differently you'd have had more responses. As to "gamefaqs"...take EVERYTHING they say with a grain of Salt...preferably a 50 Pound Bag! That site is an absolute "FOUNTAIN of MIS-INFORMATION!"

@ AMG_SLK: THANX for the following:

Having owned several "Hot Rods" in my youth I found your description to be VERY ACCURATE! 👍 ...O.G. :D

Old Geezer - I will from now on. To be fair I found their site first and somewhere in there it mentioned this one. Then I subscribed.:)

Wrt age, it's all in the mind :) , too bad the body doesn't listen. :indiff:

I just had a look at your write up on the Missions. You are going to love # 34! :nervous: I bet you trade in your AMG after for another brand. :ouch:

I look forward to your post when you get to MISSION 34. :)

Death to the SLR!! :yuck:

I like Duvel a LOT also, but its probably 3rd or 4th on my list. Don't worry, Tripel Karmeliet and Kwak are something like 12-14%! On par with Duvel easy! I didn't walk home, actually did some of John Cleese's "Ministry of Silly Walks."👍

Sorry for being so VERY off-topic. Don't ever drink & drive (though its fun in GT4). :dopey:

Maybe I should petition for a new "drink drivers" lap times database... (you have to be over 0.05% BAC (over 3 cans of VB in an hour)- legal limit in Aus, dunno the limit for America/anywhere else). Hmmm... 👍
I'm looking for something silly to do after my motor carriage thread is winding up... this might just be it... 💡

You can sign me up right off... my old mate Tim and I used to play GT3 and GT4 Prologue over a few tinnies (he lives in Melbourne now by the way!)... there's nothing better than an enduro over a couple of light ales, but it plays havoc with the old lap times.... it was always pretty hilarious waiting until a straight bit of a circuit and then trying to get a decent swig of beer before the straight runs out...

(NTSC) Muscle Car == (PAL) Old Muscle Car
(NTSC) Hot Rod == (PAL) Muscle Car

PALcars == (NTSC's cars) + rebadged Opels + one more JGTC car

Mission #34 - Just be thankful you have the PAL version :sly:

On to more important subjects:
Duvel - ahhh... good stuff. There's a bar up in San Francisco that serves 60oz bottles of it! I admit to a couple nights where, with a few extra people, we've gone through 2 or 3 of those in a night :guilty:

Ohh.. and thanks for the Narration. It's been mighty entertaining 👍 :D

I'm on NTSC...which JGTC Ride am I missing?
There was an NTSC vs. PAL thread a while back. I think it's a Toyota Esso Superflow something, something, or the other :dopey:

Old Geezer
I'm on NTSC...that's why I'm "Stuck" at 99.6% ...O.G. :D

You must become ONE with the RING O.G! Repeat after me... Ommmm.... [Stupid 🤬 worthless boat of a car] No, no, no. Ommm.... :sly:

THANX jdw 👍 ..."Been There...Tried That!" Between a Venue I'm NOT especially "FOND" of...a Ride that handles like MOBY DICK on LAND!...AND my "Aged & Decrepit" reflexes I may NEVER get 'er done. (Of course I thought the same thing about the RUF @ Complex String in GT3! ) ...O.G. :D

jdw is correct once again. The Esso Ultraflo (no 'w') Supra is out of the NTSC version for the same reason that the Toyota GTOne has incorrect "decals" (or whatever you want to call them) on it.

And would that "Reason" be that one of the EVER GREEDY Oil Companies isn't satisfied with just PRICE GOUGING...they demanded a "Royalty" from PD for putting their name on a car in a Video Game  as well??? :irked: ...O.G. :D

Hi AMG_SLK,

I've enjoyed reading about your GT experiences, please keep posting your progress, you've been highly entertaining!

There are problems with GT4 but it is still probably the best Driving game out there.
Gold Licenses may seem like a crazy joke at first, but if you watch how the Demo Driver does it and keep practicing at them yourself your time improvements will be dramatic!

Even on the inside? I never hit the wall or got 4 tires off but I put two tires in the dirt on almoast every turn, apex and exit. It's just part of straightening the road, I do it in real life too if I know there isn't a drop off or rocks or anything. Watch WRC on a tarmac rally, they don't care at all, they put the whole car a good ten feet off track at times to cut down on elapse time.

Anyways the best way to beat it is to pass the first car you come up on cleanly before the famous "banked hairpin" (don't know the real name) but if he holds you up at all you aren't going to make it.
