Hi all, as the title suggests this is my first post, but I am a veteran at Gran Turismo having owned every GT up to and including GT5P, and I have to say the new game has me impressed even by the high standards of the GT series.

The graphical details are amazing, even on my slightly rubbish 15" CRT TV! Really could do with getting an HD one to do the game justice.

The handling is brilliant. The previous games were good but the cars seem to have more weight to them now and the tyres give a more realistic sense of grip and transition into losing grip. I have driven cars on the road for a number of years now and also been lucky enough to take cars to their limits as part of a motor racing scholarship, and for the first time GT genuinely reflects car handling to realistic levels.

I have to say the online mode is fun but is almost spoilt by the terrible driving standards of many of the other drivers who think nothing of smashing into you, or are simply not competent enough to stay on the road and end up causing accidents. I've not driven in any higher level races yet and assume they're better.

Keep an eye out for me online - my name on this forum is also my PSN ID, and I can be found driving a white Integra, a red Evo X or a red R35 GTR currently online! I try and be as courteous as possible! Also keep an eye out for me on the time trials record boards in the BMW 1-series tii as I've been setting some top-ten times lately :sly:

Anyway I'm sure you'll see more of me on here!

Same here, although i did register before GT4 and post some nooby posts :dunce:
Anyway, come and race on the PP650 races! There are still quite a few awful race drivers, but there are still many great ones! Don't loose the faith. Oh, and a warning: be prepared to see the words "Lotus Elise 111R/Tuned" a lot, almost everyone uses them.

Welcome to GTP homeforsummer.

Ardius I can't recall seeing you on here before even though you've been a member for so long.

I've made like, what, 20 posts or so? When I first joined I made like 5 posts, all of which were very noob-ish and I got a good slapping (and just so! lol) and I then didn't visit the forum again for a very long time. Now I'm a bit more experienced with the internets, I frequent forums more often and Gran Turismo has always been one of my gaming passions, ever since the first one, so it was inevitable I would end up back here.
Basically, Ive not posted ever since when I first joined until this last week, but Ive always been playing GT, hence why it still says "New Member" up there under my name.

Similar for me really. I used to play for a while in the WRS for GT3 here. Always played GT (except for 2). I took a long hiatus to play FPS games on the PC in ladders and cups for a few years. Only really came back to console gaming since last Xmas. Not even sure what my old name used to be.

Nice to see your sig updated to reflect your win Ardius :)

congrats.

Thanks for the welcome :)

Was racing more tonight in the PP500 level ones and already the competition has improved though there are still a few dodgy drivers. I raced the intermediate Suzuka one around 6 times in a row and quite a few drivers did the same, I'll add one to the white list if they aren't on there already, lets just say it's nice going into a corner with someone behind you knowing they aren't going to punt you off...

Been racing with an Elise 111R in the PP500 events, have to add a load of weight and stick it on standard instead of racing tyres to meet the 500 point limit so it's a bit of a handful, though with a bit of nifty driving it can still beat the Integras that haunt these races!

I have noticed that fewer drivers enter the higher races too... it always takes longer to load as drivers join. I think the idiot racers enter the beginner events because the tracks are easier.

seems to me like you have to go tv shopping...:sly:haha...

That I do! But I've bought a new laptop and the PS3 recently so the TV will have to wait!

It isn't what I'd call "warm" in the UK either at the mo! Though I admit some of the online races have made my temperature rise... :P

Yep I've definitely had a good look... that's why my first post was praising the game as opposed to condemning the generally shoddy standard of online drivers :P

Cheers, I just achieved another win with the same number of racers too, so thats 2 wins for the Jag :sly:and plus 1 more for a 2nd against 11 racers.

You really like your Jag don't you. I haven't raced online you, but then I'm still in the A class races. I don't get as much time on games as I used to so it takes me a longer time to get through them. Onnce I've got a the events done though I'm going to start focusing on the online, I might have an online race or two between now and then though.

Hey am the same been playing the game from the very first iteration.(nearly killed my playstation as I had no memory card at the time!)

Have loved it sinve the first trailer I saw.

Haven't posted much but long time reader of the site.

Its funny because I dont normally use Jaguars at all in GT (although, I am very partial to their XJR-9/XJR-12 etc), its just the XK is so beautiful and its performance is just under everyone else's, so it makes the online races far more challenging, fun and above all rewarding.
Normally my favourite manufacturer is Toyota or TVR (ever since the first GT), there isn't any Toyotas in Prologue yet, and I do have both TVRs. I have been re-learning the Tuscan recently, I might race it online, but for now I'll stick to the Jaguar because it feels like such an achievement to come top of the pack against Ferrari's and especially Elise's.
