Yeah I post slow:P I needed to see if the picture would work since the link to the web site did not, thats why the pic was up first before anything else.

Side note
I'll have to take some picture of my TV room once i have everything hooked up. Its getting real nice in there.

Ah, so you're not a total doofus. Good to know.

Yeah man, that'd be cool to see. It would also make it easier to rob you. (:

It is listed that it has CVI output. Don't you mean DVI? I hope it has DVI, and is High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) compliant. If not, you might have trouble watching some sources of HDTV programming.

Here in the U.S. over-the-air broadcasts can't run it, but digital satellite operators can. So, do you intend to ever watch HDTV movies form either Voom, Dish Network or DirecTV? If so, you need DVI and HDCP compliance.

OK, then you don't need DVI or HDCP compliancy.

I don't see CVI in the pictures you are displaying. So, I'll just list what I do see.

You have three inputs there plus one output (composite). The rounded threaded nipple looking thing is your antenna input. I take it the lone component input is the wideband component input? That's where you'll need to connect a HDTV device or HD digital tuner.

AV1 has either component or composite video input, so I'm guessing this is only a standardband component input, but I might be wrong. This is where you want to connect your DVD player or PS2.

AV2 has either a composite or s-video video input.

I have the monitor out on my HDTV set connected to a VCR. No antenna input to my VCR. I use my HDTV hard drive recorder for recording TV shows, and use the VCR for recording what ever is connected to the HDTV set via s-video, webtv box and DirecTV reciever, or whatever images are on the HDTV that dosen't come from a digital connection.

Not a bad setup you have there, really.
Happy watching!

This link should take you to the Sony product page for this TV.

Sony 70" XBR® Grand WEGA™ KDF-70XBR950

KDF70XBR950.jpg

It's a rear projection, but it's damn fine. I honestly enjoy the picture quality of a CRT over just about anything. And my choice would be a 32" 16:9 Trinitron that Sony was putting out last year. But that was $3,000. This 70" has hella-more features and comes to $7,000. For a bit over double the price you get more than double the screen area and lots of input options and such.

We've got a 32" Trinitron WEGA. It's very good, but we should have gone for the 36" after all. Oh well!

The 32" WEGA I saw was wide (as mentioned) 16:9 and had DVI inputs. I was thinking it would be cool to use as a computer monitor.

I stand by Sony products. I think they're the best consumer-grade in quality and functionality. They tend to be a bit more pricey, but they last longer because of better builds, better technology, and the inclusion of all current audio / video types. A good Sony product will last you 50% longer than most anything else, but generally doesn't cost 50% more.

Just to point out I found out what CVI means. Componet Video Input. :banghead:

Ahhhh, that makes sense. Though I think it's too close to DVI.

So how do you like it? Are you having "movie nights" with friends and stuff?
