From one Miata owner to another, I approve. From what I understand, boosted Miatas are rather reliable. Our club president has a supercharged NA that has something like 300k miles on it, and its still chugging.

Again... this board is in dire need of sarcasm tags... or looney tags...

Was sort of thinking the same thing... 240 whp would be a little closer to 270+ on a Miata drivetrain... depending on the dyno... 10 psi only? Are american pounds bigger than the rest of the world's?

Mental, mental, mental car. Awesome purchase!

Probably closer to 280 at the crank but as FAMINE correctly pointed out, crank HP isn't important.

aaaaah what an awesome little car. I would have loved that Mazda entered Mexico like 15 years earlier and sold these cars here. Only recently with the new, no-pop-up, expensive MX-5 did we got a Miata.

What is the old Pontiac? I remember to have read about it... elsewhere, but I forgot what it was.

1967 Le Mans convertible. 326, 2 barrel, 2-speed Powerglide. 270,000 miles. Dad bought it new for Mom at Christmas of 1966, so I've known the car since I was 2. It got given to me after Mom was done with in around 1981-2. I fixed it up then, but it needs a complete restore now.

But the ladies love a padded crotch! :dopey:

I agree... keep it on the conservative pulley... but have everything checked over before you take her to the track... though I suppose the previous owner was meticulous in maintenance?

LSD=awesome. Have fun with that car. :D

aaaah that is way neat. Have you ever considered selling about 4 of your other cars and faving it redone completely with a 455(or LSx)/6-speed combo and all that crap? Or would that be too much?

pictures if you could? price? hah!

Honestly I'd keep the car right where it's at power wise. Any more than that and you'll need to start looking into forged internals. Surprised it's not intercooled at that power level...

Those cars are fun. Took a second generation MX-5 for my first car lessons. Do the first two generations have Traction control, I know the third does.

I could see wanting TC if you daily drove a Miata with boost. But a stock Miata, regardless of gen, shouldnt need TC. Base 350z's dont have it, I daily drove that for a year.

If my dream (more like reasonable day dream) comes true of getting a boosted Miata, then I may change my tune, especially with all the rain here. But I am also a slow driver. People hate me.

Sorry, been offline for a few days.

My Miata is intercooled, though it is mostly stock intervals. And, if yesterday's autocross performance is any indicator, at around 10 pounds per horsepower, I'm already having trouble finding enough traction to put the power down. Next step will definitely be to roll the fenders and move to 15x9 wheels with 225/45 race rubber. 245s would be better but they are rare in 15 inch R comps. Hardcore folks go to 275 Hoosiers but that takes more bodywork than I want to do.

That is a beautiful machine you've got there :D

Thanks!

i hear people say that this is a "girl car" and a stock miata sortof is a girly car, but if theyre well equipped like this one is then they are quite capable machines. cars like this can beat evo's and sti's if the driver knows the car.

They're plenty capable in stock classes with the right tires too. Light and agile cars rock.
